The first week of 2022 brought hurricane force winds and subzero temperatures to Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska. Gusts of winds were clocked at 113 mph and the temperatures hovered at 0 or below making for EXTREME wind chills. The wind damaged property throughout the Valley and caused power outages for much of South Central Alaska. Because we had a generator and woodstove, the weather was merely an inconvenience, but for many it was a terrible start to 2022.
