NO WAY! Mike is not allowed to buy and cool chevy's. I would hate to have to hunt him down. Mike thinks every Chevy needs a saws-all and rattle cans. YOU MONSTER! 🦅
Have you driven by a high school lately? In my day, if you were even lucky enough to have a car, it was ten or more years old and previously owned by someone's grandmother. I drive by my old high school now and the kids are all driving 2015 BMWs, and nearly-new SUVs. Yeah, I'm pretty jealous. ;-)
Crate engine swapped 4wd s10 with tall tires. People think clearence is all in the lift, but a lift doesent raise the suspension. Tires do. So lift it to fit taller tires, decent small block, 4wd, bead locks, ect wpuld be cool. Lightweight so it wouldnt sink and small enought to be able to get through tight spots.
Frame is definitely jacked. Hard to tell sometimes without getting it measured but I just learned the hard way with my last truck. Fixed everything and found out the frame was indeed ruined (could’ve been fixed for 3 grand cab off but forget that lol) when we tried to put the new bed on and it was 2 inches off. Almost done parting it out. Luckily that’s gone well. Still would’ve saved a bunch of headache and work had I checked the frame more before attempting to repair. But that’s the beauty of old trucks. Can just grab another one and do it again. Always room for improvement.
It will be cheaper to buy 1 with nice paint/body than buying another cheap one than having to pay someone to paint it. Find one down south and have shipped up.
Daniel he can find ones up here that are in the same condition if not better than the ones down south. Trucks like that in the south aren’t usually in good condition because they’re inspection laws aren’t as strict.
I was really looking forward to seeing the green OBS get restored, and it's kinda sad to see it go. If you do plan on getting another one though, don't ruin it like you did the Blazer. Those 2 door Tahoes and Yukons from that era are really hard to find compared to the 4 door versions and seeing the 2 door Blazer body pretty much get destroyed is just mentally painful
Think ya will have the trail rig back by this fall for some great offroad get stuck & break stuff footage? Anxious to see it finished! Steves "monster car" vs the Blazer!!!
@@TylerDuysen its easy to say u will fix it all in a day. But very unlikely. Trust me, my parents had 3 of these growing up. And I currently own one now. They aren't the easiest to work on . almost every bolt is either broken , ciezed, rusty, or watever. And its not as simple as putring new parts in. U can definitely tell something is majorly bent. When it comes to supsension and frame work. 1 little bend can completely jack up the entire geometry and u have to do custom fab work just to bolt on replacement parts.
that same spot on the axle.. my inspector failed me before it was broke, pointed right at it and said it was time for new lines.. Good to have an old guy who knows the routines looking stuff over. this can happen to anyone. I swapped mine to stainless prebent. Well worth it.
I was looking forward to see where you were going to go with this. Unfortunately I'm totally agreeing that it's not worth it, for safety's sake. Good luck to whoever gets called for that Jeep tomorrow. That'd be awesome to have.
I met a pole with my the front end of my old strait axle dodge, when that tire catches the pole. Goodbye entire front end, actually moved my entire axle back. I can only imagine with the more delicate IFS that most components if not all of them are toast.
Good luck everyone ..and to the winner winner chicken dinner ..awesome ..figures crossed. come on beep beep i want the jeep ...i just hope it goes to a good home ..
I thinks its obvious just from the exterior damage its totaled damage is definitely higher then the value of the truck.....junk it or enter it into a demolition derby
@Street Speed 717 - HEY MIKE!I I got an idea. Keep the OBS Chevy as a parts truck and get another OBS Chevy and just pick parts as you need them. Another idea is having a mini series where you show the teardown of an OBS Chevy and you film yourself taking it apart. Keep the parts you feel you need, load the Dirtymax with the rest and take a vlog entry drive to the scrap yard and scrap the rest. Now that would be awesome content.
Sorry about the OBS Chevy Truck, but I am glad that Steve is okay, that is WAY MORE important than ANY vehicle. Tomorrow in that 12-1 time frame I will be either driving to work or getting ready to drive to work so I will be checking for that 717 area code just in case I could be so lucky, but if not that is cool. The 2nd place GoPro would also be sweet since I have never had one. I don't have any experience aside from driving really slow around the dealer lot with a manual transmission. So if I did win, I would have to get a short tutorial. I have watched your old How To Video with the yellow C7. Good luck to all that put in an entry or flooded the entry box while buying sweet merch. Would go cool to have a vehicle that can go places for hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping that my Chevy Cruze can't.
“I’m not angry at my friend” he said and then goes to say “it was perfectly fine when I lent it to him”. Yah he is 100% pissed. You wouldn’t spend 4 min talking about how your not pissed and take the time to verify his story if you were not angry at the guy. He just didn’t want to come off as an asshole but he’s defiantly coming off as truthful. It’s OK to say you’re pissed even though it was your fault for giving him faulty equipment.
i'm bout to pick up my first obs truck soon, 92 silverado 1500 2wd extended cab V8 with 200k miles, has a clean body, decent interior kinda sits low for a stock truck but has a nice stance. watching your obs builds is what led to this beings I currently own a 97 f150 lariat 4x4 that's built and standing tall like the green obs. my f150s gonna cost more to fix than it'd cost you to fix your truck but i'm gonna keep pluggin and chuggin until it's done and then my obs is getting some upgrades
MIke, sad to see the OBS go but you are right, that frame damage is the nail in the coffin. No sense spending 2K or more on a 1200 buck truck. FYI I doubt the stripped threads are from just the spacers but also possibly from your jack-hammer electric impact when you tighten the lug nuts. It's great for running them down to the point of contact but after that if you are still hitting them with that impact gun then you are doing that to all the lug nuts on all your cars so you might want to lighten up with the impact and start using that 4 way to tighten them down (or better yet a torque wrench)... Just some friendly advice from a fan! because I wince in pain every time I see you use that thing to install wheels.
Scrap it bro. Start over. Look for one in the desert! I'll help you. Find one here in California or Vegas and I'll drive it too you!! We can collaborate. It'll have no rust whatsoever.
I'm not sure how that master cylinder is set up on that year but unless it has 2 designated reservoirs which I'm pretty sure they quit doing in 80's if there gets a hole in the line anywhere in the system you lose peddle all together because I've had to smash a few rear lines shut to get enough peddle to limp home.
What's up Mike great content keep up the good work just one question you said you gave the truck to Steve or did I misunderstand now you taking the wheels and all that off it
Get another obs please would love to see the build you wanted to do. Plus my dad has a 1994 Chevy Silverado 2500 and is stock he is looking to do a build like yours so if you could get another obs it would be nice
Does the states have an annual car check (we have an MOT test every year for cars 3 years and older ,in the UK). Because the rusted rear brake lines would have been commented on for the last few years it was on the road.
Hey mike what year is that my dad has a 93 reg cab shortbox, GMC tho but we all know that they are pretty much the same lol, anywho that truck is a beast. If you would like to respond that would be awesome. Keep up the good work!👍
