Just finding your channel. Spot on info! Our first yorkie came home at 9 weeks, only because I had 25 years of raising westies. I would not do that again, even with a wealth of experience.. I was very concerned about hypoglycemia. Only My history with dogs avoided that. *We got our second yorkie last week, his breeder keeps pups with mom until 12 weeks. Then takes them inside her home for 2-4 weeks. This bypassed all hypoglycemia issues, created great socializing with my older yorkie and he was pad trained and comfortable within a home environment . Best of all, the love shown by the breeder translated into perfect bonding with me. At one week home, he’s pad trained, sleeps in my bed all night, no inappropriate chewing, eats well, good self esteem and AMAZING! The breeder has a contract, shots, worming, vet visit and microchip as well as a requirement to be seen by a vet within 72 hours and send her a copy of the vet report. She sends the pup home with a blanket from her home, a big bag of food, a favorite toy, and a booklet from her with Puppy info and microchip registry info. Plus, she called us at 24 hours to be certain the first night went well. This lady is 77 and been breeding for years. It shows!
I just found your site. I love how your dog lets you do whatever you want while grooming them! I'm considering a Yorkie or a Biewer and doing my homework prior to purchasing a dog. Looking forward to watching all of your videos. You have such a sweet, kind demeanor. Take care....
Thank you so much:). We are best friends, and it really shows I think. I am good to them, and they are good to me ❤️❤️❤️. Let me know what kind of puppy you decide on:). You don't have to get a yorkie to be welcome on my channel 💙💙💙
I just lost my Yorkie of 13 years I'm heartbroken I can't seem to get over it I'm having a hard time it's enjoyable to see your dogs I hope when I'm ready I find your keys just like yours thank you so much
I appreciate you sharing how much you paid for your yorkies. I am in the process of researching about getting a yorkie and one breeder charges $4,500 for a male and $5,000 for a female. As I hadn't researched cost for purchasing one, I thought this was the average price, but knowing how you are very experienced with purchasing from a reputable breeder, it made me realize I need to do some more research to find some other options because the breeder who provided these prices didn't even have show dogs. Thank you for the videos as they have been very helpful as I am considering adding a yorkie to our family.
That could very well be a reasonable price. I have not purchased a Yorkie in quite a while, so it’s possible that prices have gone up substantially as just about everything in the world has. That doesn’t sound unreasonable to me.
I'm getting one for 1200 (male) and it's 1500 (female) but I've also heard some breeders charging up 3500. So those near you may be overpriced. I'm going to bring mine home around 10 to 12 weeks so I have another month to wait
Thank you! My puppy is coming home at 12 weeks, i knew my breeder was a great one, you just solidified my sentiments. AND I have to sign a return contract :)
Hi, just want to thank you for these videos. I have my very first Yorkie, unfortunately I got him at 8 weeks old (I didn’t know any better 🫤) but thankfully the vet says he’s very healthy and the ideal Yorkshire Terrier. I wish I could’ve found your videos before I got him, but it was kind of unexpected. I have never had a Yorkie before, and I get so nervous so I looked online for tips on the breed and so happy I found you. My Yorkie baby (Charlie) is now 18 weeks old, and he’s the love of my life! I’m now sooo in love with the breed and I wish I could put him in shows cause he’s just so perfect! Your videos have taught me a lot and I now know that I have made so many mistakes that I am now trying to correct. I hope you know that you truly make a difference with these videos that you make and I’m a happy subscriber please continue to make videos ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a beautiful comment. I am so happy that you are enjoying Charlie so much, and it sounds like he’s really found a thoughtful, and loving companion by being adopted by you. I hope you have a beautiful day! Megan
@@MeganGraham yes he’s truly my baby boy. Your welcome, I just really wanted to thank you and let you know that you are making a difference. We appreciate you and we hope you continue, I can’t wait to catch you live
Here in Ontario Canada there are no more stores that sell pups, you can't buy any pet in any store, it's illegal, there are not many yorkie breeders also but there are a few, puppy mills are illegal.
I agree you should be careful when looking for a breeder. Some people pretend to be breeders, by hacking videos of breeders. They don’t have any puppies but they want a hefty amount of money for a deposit. To be safe instead of sending money request to do the exchange at your local police station. Most times they will leave you alone, not all the though. Crooks have many tricks. It’s best if you can get a referral. Meghan you share some good information and tips.
I recently got my first Yorkie. I was able to meet both of the parents and all the siblings. I gave a deposit on the puppy I chose, then came back after she was 12 weeks old to get her and bring her home! I named her Sophie, and I'm head over heels in love with her. Sophie is a very happy puppy, sweet, intelligent, and affectionate! She is six and a half months old and will be taking her to her first grooming appt. in a few weeks. I found a certified master groomer, and I'm hoping her first time goes well. I plan on only her ears, feet, and private area groomed the first few times. I think slow is a safe approach to anything new for her. Do you think it's too soon for her first groom? Should I wait until she is older? LOL, Yes we had to answer a lot of questions from the breeder! It was harder to bring Sophie home than it was my two sons from the hospital when they were born!
I love what a thoughtful companion you are to her. It is music to my ears:) I think that sounds like a great age to get her groomed, abs also a really good idea to do a mini groom. I love it:)
I missed another live! 😭 I bet it’s hard when Alfie has to leave to father more pups. When is the next time he will have to do that? It’s probably the longest couple days ever!
I am looking at buying a 6 month old Yorkie from the breeder. Is it best to adopt at an earlier age? What would be the disadvantage if any. Thanks in advance
Petland had a yorkie for 5,000 . I know in some areas of the US that is a good price , but my area they run between 1000 - 3000 at the highest. For a good yorkie. I hung up the phone then I found out they use puppy mills and I got so sad , for the animals
Hi Megan! I’m getting my Yorkie puppy at the end of the month at 8 weeks. Is there a way I can ask her to keep my Yorkie until 10-12 weeks without her feeling like I’m being rude? I did a lot of research and I agree that 12 weeks is best. I did ask her recently and she said that she separates the puppies from their mother at 6-7 weeks but keeps the litter together. Thank you for all of the information in your videos! I’m getting more and more prepared to bring her home!
That makes me so happy that you were thinking about doing that. I don’t think that it is rude in any way, and I think it would make your puppy healthier. Perhaps you could say something like, I would love it if my puppy could just have a few more weeks to grow a little bit stronger and to be with her mom, and I would be happy to pay a little bit extra because I know it would be more expense? Perhaps offer her another 25 or $50 a week because she would be doing a little bit of extra work. I do think that every breeder should do it, but sometimes if you do a small financial incentive it might make it feel a little bit more important to that person as well? I think it sounds like a great idea and you’re really on the right track.❤️
@@MeganGraham Thank you so much for replying! I will talk to her soon and ask her. The way you explained it makes complete sense! I’m so excited to have my Yorkie, but I want to make sure she’s ready to leave her mom and her siblings before coming home. It’s heaven sent that you make educational videos for people like me to be fully prepared to bring our new puppy home. It gives me a sense of confidence and reassurance that all of my research is correct! I have a quick question, do you have a video on how many weeks I can first take my puppy on a walk? I plan to get her all of her vaccines but I’m not too sure when it’s safe to take her for a walk. If you have a video, please let me know :) Thank you again!!
Would you say that every pet store sources from puppy mills? I visited one a few days ago (naive to what you said) and they claimed they source all their puppies from the "top 2% of breeders in the US" and were charging $5k-$9k. insane. but could that have been true or no?
@@MeganGraham I read some reviews and a lot of their puppies apparently died a few days after going home :( none of their warranties or promises were held up according to reviews. how are these places legal??
I see in your links that you recommend 2 different companies for dog food. Which one do I try first. I have 2 Yorkies. A 9 month old and her mom who is 3 yrs. Old. Picky eaters. I give them Dr. Marty’s dog food right now but I feel they need something more and different
Hi 😊 i have a my male yorkie going on 13 years....ive had him from 8wks old....i need advice... due to my Yorkie age , would now be a good time to get another Yorkie? This time i want two ...his name is Benji .. many thanks 😊
Are you asking about getting one other yorkie, or two other yorkies? I think one would be ok (if Benji's health is good) but not two, that would be overwhelming)
