Excuse my unlearned question. I brought a bunch of pretty stones from the prospecting trip. Including a bunch of quartz. Now i am not sure the quartz will polish or break up. If it does break up will it make a decent rough grit polish?
Quartz is a soft mineral. It may not polish other minerals if they are harder. Quartz can be tumbled, but it needs to be done carefully and not mixed with harder rocks that will beat it up.
