Sanja’s dedication and enthusiasm is inspiring. “Look there’s a stone circle let’s go look at it“ “no there’s a fence and we’ve other things to see” “okay!” Really good stuff, well made, fun and interesting ❤
You guys are just the best, your description of the history is somewhat wild but extremely funny and educating, I have also been there in the past but never knew what you discovered, learn something new every day I suppose. Another brilliant video, well done..
You’re a much better channel than other channels on RU-vid. Also speak to Marks and Sparks about the Mick Fleetwood Shire collection. Also, another good video you two.
Hahaha, perfect! After a crazy week of work and the stress of being alive in Britain today, I am sitting with a vodka redbull and some tortillas with salsa dip plus the Latest Digitiser video.....bliss! thanks peeps!
Mother Vinegar - amazing stuff ...... just started watching and will add my other comments - chatterbox here but forget quick too x thanks for a great amount of food for thought ! Also nice to see things i knew confirmed xxx
one thing i do know - we have been raised on part lies and blatant lies and learning and living and loving is vastly important to us all - good folk are amongst us all everywhere except those in power x welcome to being teachers in your wonderful adventures of personal development and learning and sharing too xxx
@@MummaearthI think I only descaled the kettle with it once because Paul hated the smell so much, so never again 😅 Lemons work too, if left overnight, but they don’t seem as powerful as vinegar (but at least they smell nicer)
I plan to visit next year & really looking forward to it! Any tips for accommodation within walking distance as I won't have a car. Thanks for this vid. New sub!
I used to love signing in church books - didnt realize they still did that - boycotted churches since visiting York Cathedral and couldnt afford the entrance fees ............... 2017
Brilliant video. Definitely eye opening and a bit depressing that history repeats itself. Eyam village, the blitz and covid 19 all examples of 'do as I say not as I do' and misremembered honour it seems..
Oh no wished i knew about this one…….one of my old friends trig is a descendant from a farm close by that help supply food and meds to the village during the plague and covid time (…..ok im lying about covid times lol ) ,he used to bang on about it at college …cool episode as always and next time your in Derbyshire give us a shout x
I visited this village a year or two back, with my sister. I must admit that I felt little or no emotion about it. At least now, watching Biffo's video, I can feel an emotion...Laughter!
Only just caught up, as I’ve been feeling dreadful the last few days (not plague, fortunately/unfortunately). Good to see you out and about, getting some sun on your legs!
Up round my neck of the woods! I've never heard of this place, you two are teaching more history than my school ever did ♥I might have to go and nick a coin from the vinegar well as a souvenir one day
I was about to note that Biffo's get-up was kinda hobbit-esque, but then he beat me to the punch with the "yes I know I look like a hobbit version of Mick Fleetwood". But honestly, I'd say that Biffo pulls it off very well, regardless of his insecurities. He makes Fleetwood Hobbit look GOOD. Truly slaying it, especially since the sandals make him look ready for a nice holiday, which I reckon we could all use as the dog days of summer finally draw to a close. 4:12, Vinegar Hands is a great name for a character. And probably won't make you break out like poor old Lemon Eyes did. I can already see "Vinegar Hands in the Snake House" being a book in Book of Hours, which is basically Cultist Simulator except you're a librarian cataloguing occult literature in an ancient Cornish library. It's definitely not a game for everyone, but for me it is damn compelling, to the point that once I'm done watching videos today, I'm absolutely going to spend the rest of the night taming the books of Hush House. *_[The Road to Brancrug intensifies]_* As for that stone circle, you just KNOW that weird things happen there during the season of Numa. And as for the eye of the big needle, you could easily fit a camel through that if the camel was liquid. That may sound unhinged, and it absolutely is, but a liquid camel would have a VERY hard time being poured through the eye of an actual needle, due to surface tension and whatnot. Hell, a liquid camel would have an easier time being poured through a mon, aka the traditional Japanese coin with a square hole in the middle, since that hole is way larger than the eye of a needle. 17:20, wait, Eyam had lead mines? That's worrying, to say the least. Not because people got rich off of it, but because well, y'know, you really don't want lead in the water, and I reckon that probably happened because I doubt they had the health-and-safety reforms we have nowadays.
Really interesting. The story is one of legend and like all good legends, there is enough truth for the moral of the tale to be valuable, inspiring and provoking. I wonder what truths and 'over enthusiasm' lies in other British folklore.
I should be writing something funny but I find the Victorian attitude to history absolutely fascinating; that it's something malleable where "as it should be" can override "as it was" and they were not averse to doctoring the odd text or moving the odd prehistoric monument to fit their ideas of how and why things were created. It feels oddly alien and yet... I'm also sure I see the same in our times, where the record of things I remember is not as I personally remember them, and yet I cannot find anything which backs up my memory.
booboworld eh? now that must have been an amazing titular ride .) i do find macabre things fascinating to some degree (not all but some) so i think i can understand how bone catacoumbs or somehing like that would be appealing, but i see nothing in either village that would realy stand out as being spooky. Legends tend to be out of self-interest and exxageration in general. that was to be expected. i am sure the towns that were bombed during battle for bitain were touted as heroic even tho they had no choice in the matter
The whole premise never made sense to me. "The village that sacrificed itself". There was nowhere to go to get help for the disease. Villagers could have gone outside the village into pastures, etc. if leaving the town was thought to be helpful. The history claims coins were exchanged for needed supplies at the destinations outside the town. People were not starving to death. Good for them if they did not spread the disease to others outside of Eyam! But I don't quite see that they sacrificed themselves because many probably would have died anyway even if they had left. Meanwhile, in London, families were officially sealed up in their dwellings while plague was occurring within. The best information from Eyam is that a number of present residents have genetics from those who survived the plague. Scientists have been studying this as some who descended from ancient plague survivors have immune systems that fight HIV.
What made you decided to somewhat shift the channel towards making these little, I guess you'd call them somewhat mockumentaries? I say somewhat since they do still seem to be about real subjects, but they are also comedic.
This is a fair question, with a less-than-easy answer. The short of it is... Digitiser - back in its earliest days, pre-RU-vid - mixed facts and journalism with the funnies. This is more true to that. The out-and-out comedy stuff we were doing before this was more of an aberration. We enjoyed doing it, but we never felt we got the format right. We love travel, history etc. This just felt like a better fit for us. The channel was also stagnating and shedding subs. Doing what we love has turned it around, and we're growing again. Hope that clears it up a bit. And yeah... wouldn't call this mockumentaries per se. More documentaries that just happen to have funny stuff in them.
Nice video, however much people think these aren't Digi I like them. Sad irony that we have the technology to record our day to day routine for decades if not centuries but it's also used to push gargantuan disinformation campaigns.
I'm sad that the video ended before Sanja could read the word "nosegays", would have added a bit more fun to a quite dry video (which I still enjoyed).
Love your videos, I keep coming back to them, except when I do you've changed the thumbnail and/or title. This makes it hard to find the videos I like.
Apologies! We've settled down with the thumbnail changing for now. We were going through a period of experimentation. Glad you like the vids though (when you do find them).
This show is great!! 🤣 Biffo looks like the top half of a Edwardian angst poet plopped on the bottom half of someones doddering grandad. 🤣 Next vid..... Biffo attempts to fix the ceiling? (Please please please) 😂😂😂😂
Don't worry. We have plans. We do take them with us every time we film these vids, so the intention is there. We've just yet to find the right opportunity.
The media does in fact go to representatives of BP and Shell for information about climate change, and that's exactly what's wrong with the media, so you've almost hit the nail on the head there.
Was there somebody from there who died on the Titanic? I have a theory that there is at least one person from every town and village that was a passenger on it. Hmmm.
10:57 Drinking the Holy water? Those lips were dry! A new Conspiracy has arisen. Connect these fings ..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Joking aside, set up one of those funds things as long as its not going to harm your relationship, I admire Sanja for not wanting to take other peoples money. We're all in a crapp place with the cost of everything! No wonder the country is rioting (or at least seems to be).
