For many decades, American Jewish authors have tried to untangle their two identities, reckoning with both Jewishness and Americanness in their writing. Joshua Cohen and Nicole Krauss, two prominent younger novelists who have emphasized Jewish themes in their books, will discuss how these identities influence who they are as authors and how they approach their portrayals of Jewish life through these lenses.
Joshua Cohen is the author of The Netanyahus, winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, as well as several other works of fiction and nonfiction. His works have appeared in The New York Times, Harpers, The Jewish Daily Forward, Tablet Magazine and The New York Observer.
Nicole Krauss is the author of the international bestsellers Forest Dark and Great House. Her fiction has been published in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Harper’s Magazine, Esquire, and The Best American Short Stories, and her books have been translated into thirty-seven languages.
This program is presented in partnership with NY Jewish Week and UJA-Federation of New York.

The word is goy, it literally means nation, it generally refers to non Jews, however in some usage it is used pejoratively. However, it is simply interpreted as nation

@@rachelgarber1423 It's very offensive. Jews really need to confront their racism problem, IMHO.

I like what she said about being home sick. We are home sick for paradise where Adam and Kuah abided before DisObedience
