What is a false gospel? How do we know if we are believing a false Gospel? What are the common false Gospels of today? Jon Moffitt helps you first understand the true biblical gospel and then helps you compare it to other false gospels that are circulating Christianity today. We must always protect the core of the gospel, "faith alone."

I have tried a lot to earn salvation before because of Lordship salvation. They always ask to repent from sin or turn away from sin first inorder to receive salvation. Some preacher would go to the extend "If God is not Lord of one, He is Lord of none." I had depression and anxiety because of this. Most probably I was unable to be perfect. Always doubting, always fighting and scared. According to Jesus even hating is murder so how could I ever be saved. There are many things in our hearts that even if we don't act upon it which is very sinful and so I thought I was destined to go to hell. But a friend of mine told me the true gospel now I am resting on Jesus. It's not that I accept sin or sin deliberately. I respond to God's love with love through obedience. There may be times I grieve the Holy Spirit, but I always feel bad if I do and later ask for forgiveness. Even in tough times and even when I struggle with sin, I still know now how to rest in Jesus. Thanks for this message because these days the true gospel is hardly preached and it has even come to a time where the true gospel is considered to be wrong.

@@Worship_Universe Where did I say that obedience saves? I am saved by faith through grace. I just said I respond to God's love through obedience. I don't want to be chastised. I sin everyday in thought, deed or action. But I prefer not to even in this flesh. I want to serve God. There is nothing wrong in wanting to serve God

This really helped me, thank you. I literally transcribed the part you described the true gospel so I can come back and read it. I constantly struggle with assurance but I must say, your videos are a great help. May God bless you and this ministry. My heart hurts for all the people who struggle with what I struggle with, and have no help to break down the walls of what they might be wrongly believing. It really is a work of bewitching, when we start to believe a false gospel.

New to reformed theology, it sounds so beautiful that it Christ alone but I'm having trouble believing it's true when I look at other passages in the Bible. It seems like we need to overcome in order to be accepted or be obedient enough.

Adhering to the "Saved by grace alone" or "Just believe" doctrine while throwing all the other verses out the window is a pretty gutsy move. That would tell me that the apostle Paul was going around, preaching a gospel that goes well beyond "faith alone". Paul said in Galatians 1:9 that everyone is accursed that preaches another gospel than the one he preached. Taking Acts 16:30-31 as the entirety of the bible would tell us that no repentance of any kind is needed for salvation. Acts 16:30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” In addition, only the person asking what he needed to do to be saved would need to "believe". This infers that the rest of his household could be complete atheists, yet would be saved. Are we having a contest to cherry-pick scripture and water down the Word of God until it has absolutely no effect? If so, the entire population of earth should read ONLY Titus 3:5 and see that Jesus already saved us by His mercy and we don't have to do a single thing. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost If we take this one verse literally, without reading any other in the bible, one could come to the conclusion that: 1) They don't even need to "Believe in Jesus" to be saved, because this verse doesn't say anything about belief. 2) They don't need to hear the Word 3) They don't need to read the Word 3) No relationship with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit is needed. 4) Hell is completely empty because everyone already got saved by His "mercy". 5) Sin as much as you want to, because repentance (to turn away from sin) wasn't specifically mentioned in this verse, either. If this is the case, then ask yourself: Why is there even a judgment of man (Revelation 20:12-15)? Why is there a Gospel? And why is there even a Bible? It's as if one has come to the point of saying, "Sorry Jesus, but I'm not going to obey Your Gospel because, after all, obeying is a work." If one is going to take the "minimalist" doctrine to the nth degree, then you should end up with something similar to the above. Take this approach and you will eventually find out that God is NOT playing around. He will not be mocked and ignored. In flaming fire, God will take vengeance on those that do not know Him and do not obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). The Word of God commands us to make our calling and election "sure", not "minimal" (2 Peter 1:10). It also instructs us to study the word to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15). The best policy is to read the ENTIRE Word of God for yourself to find out what the TRUE DOCTRINE and TRUE GOSPEL really is and then OBEY that gospel. If you are genuinely seeking God on this topic, He will most definitely fill in the blanks on any questions you have. All you have to do is ask Him in sincerity. When the early disciples preached the Gospel, what did the hearers of that Gospel actually do? 1) They repented. 2) They got baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. 3) They received the Promise of the Father - The baptism of the Holy Ghost. If a person truly BELIEVES the gospel, they will OBEY the gospel. In addition, once that individual experiences the grip of sin unravelling and being removed from their life and the POWER of the Holy Ghost living inside, they will NOT be ashamed of that gospel, even as Paul declared in Romans 1:16. God provided the plan of salvation for all men, women and children when He was under no obligation to do so. This is the very demonstration of His grace and mercy. Arguing against Lordship salvation is not the issue here. The real problem is that one can argue so hard against works that they take it over the edge and completely IGNORE and therefore REJECT the instructions given from the Gospel, stating that those are works as well. THIS IS DECEPTION OF THE HIGHEST ORDER. Do yourself a HUGE favor. Don't take reckless chances with your salvation. OBEY the TRUE GOSPEL.

4:17 "we will never stand before the Father and say how good we did" Matthew 7:22 - "On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’" Jesus here talks about the people who believe a false gospel, a works based gospel.

Excellent summary! It is difficult to Guage with some traditions though, like Lutheranism for example. They technically believe you can lose your salvation, but they believe that occurs if you cease to trust/have faith in Christ alone.

I spoke with a woman who said, "I owe God my tithe," and "I owe God my worship." I pushed back on the use of the word "owe", as it leaves the impression that Christ's work on the cross leaves us in debt to him. What are your thoughts?

The gospel that is taught by many people today has been reduced down to just "faith alone". This false gospel of "faith alone" has made following the commandments of Christ null and void. Obeying His commandments have been eliminated from the gospel and have been made subsequent and optional to salvation. Walking in the Spirit has been made optional as well. This false gospel of "faith alone" changes what Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 - For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. By teaching that we do NOT need to keep the commandments(plural) of Christ as the gospel, the saving power of the gospel has been neutralized. The end result is that millions of people have been deceived by Satan into thinking that they are saved. They were taught that "faith alone" saved them apart from them having to keep the commandments of Christ. This has become Satan's masterpiece and has deceived millions of people into thinking they have eternal life in Christ when they actually remain lost.

Humans can’t understand prophecies until after they have been fulfilled… “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:19-21). “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 AKJV)

Greetings. Did Augustine get his interpretation of Romans 5:12 wrong? The reason I ask is because it was Augustine who set the western church on its course of original sin and inherited guilt. Many Christians don’t realize that a whole different understanding and interpretation of this verse came out of the eastern church. Thanks

If you are in Christ and do not abide in Him you will suffer condemnation, not to eternal damnation but here in life. Imagine believing and not knowing His Word. Happens all the time, how abundant do you think that brothers life is here? Those who are in the flesh cannot please God, but, you are not in the flesh if indeed yhe Spirit of God dwells in you. It does not say that you automatically please God, it implies that you are able to please Him set you mind on the things of the Spirit.

Sowing to the spirit means sowing and abiding in Christs love stewing in it The result Fruits of the spirit Love patience peace joy kindness faithfullness Sowing to the flesh Is religiously doing good works sinning less by willpower The result? Boasting Strife decensions fornications leciviousness hardheartedness The reason is because when you fall in love with someone you naturaly want to do what makes them happy You naturally become humble and docile because of love But when you sow to the flesh you can become prideful and weak and justify your weakness

Just one question that I think about that never gets talked about in this type of video, does anyone think like me that the fruit of the Spirit is the way a believer does any good ? Born again child of God should bear fruit I think would could agree ? Apart from me you can do nothing I am the vine and you are the branches! So is it works ? I believe here is what people get confused about! Religion says do this give that obey and be forgiven ! Man’s attempt to get to God. Jesus is Gods attempt to get to mankind! If you think you have to work out your salvation you can never earn it stop! The free gift that we can never earn was paid in full by Jesus the spotless lamb of God that took it all on him by one man Adam sin entered and by one man Romans 12 :17 how much more will those receive Gods abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ! BELIEVING THE GOSPEL AS THE SCRIPTURES HATH SAID Todays gospel message has been so watered down that it instructs us to only "believe" and then we are "good to go". But there is no POWER in this and it is NOT the gospel that the disciples of Christ obeyed in the book of Acts. "Believing" is the gateway to "Obeying" the TRUE GOSPEL. However, believing in and of itself is not a complete response to the entire GOSPEL. Jesus said "BELIEVE", yes that is true. But Jesus further expounds "BELIEVE AS THE SCRIPTURES CONTINUE TO SAY" (John 7:38) Jesus instructed His disciples to baptize. He didn't speak this directive just to give them "busy" work. In the scriptures below, we see example after example after example of what the listeners DID after Hearing and Obeying the True Gospel. There is a pattern here. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Why mention baptism in the scripture if baptism is irrelevant? Because it is relevant. Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Again, The disciples of Jesus Christ baptized. Joh 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, Joh 4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) Peter is preaching the Gospel. He doesn't say, "for the few of you that feel the need to get baptized, go for it!" No, he says, "Be baptized every one of you..." Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Those that gladly received the Gospel that Peter preached got baptized. Those who rejected the Gospel he preached, didn't. Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: Philip is preaching the same Gospel. As a result, the people believed and as a result of that belief, they got baptized. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Simon heard the Gospel. He believed and as a result, he got baptized. Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Philip preached the Gospel to a eunuch. As a result, the eunuch does not say, "I believe in Jesus" and then go on his way. Instead, he wants to get baptized as soon as possible. Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Act 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Peter preaches the Gospel. As the people heard, the Holy Ghost descended and filled them. Afterwards, Peter instructs them to get baptized in the Name of The Lord and is alluding that no man should get in the way of that process. He did not say, "It's optional" (Acts 10:37-48) Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Paul and Silas preach to the keeper of the prison. Paul says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." but he does not stop there. He preached the word of the Lord and as a result, the keeper of the prison and his household were baptized. Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Another instance where people heard the Gospel. They believed and as a result, those who believed were baptized. Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. In Acts 19:1-9, Paul is asking a "believer" if they have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost since they believed. They haven't heard about the Holy Ghost. So what does Paul start asking about? He asked how they were baptized. They had been baptized according to John's baptism of repentance. After Paul explained the gospel more clearly (since Jesus had since risen), they got Re-baptized. But this time, it was in the Name of The Lord. Because they repented and got baptized in the name of the Lord, God was obligated to baptize them in the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38), because it is His Promise (Acts 2:39) If you read further in Acts 19:8-9, you will see that certain people BELIEVED NOT and started speaking evil of the gospel that Paul preached. 19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. 8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. 9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. The response to the TRUE GOSPEL includes: 1) Repentance (acknowledging and turning away from sin) and 2) Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ and as a result, that individual shall 3) Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus tells what happens when we "BELIEVE AS THE SCRIPTURES CONTINUE TO SAY" John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Which Gospel of Jesus Christ will you believe? The one that the early disciples of Jesus preached as documented in the Bible? Or the modified/simplified/modernized version that would be considered "Another gospel" by Paul. Paul says the person that preaches "Another gospel" is accursed. Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. Do yourself a HUGE favor. Don't take reckless chances with your salvation. OBEY the TRUE GOSPEL. Acts 2:38 clearly tells us that if we will 1) repent of our sin and 2) get water baptized in the name of Jesus, 3) then God is OBLIGATED to baptize us with the Holy Spirit. Why? Because Acts 2:39 goes on to say that this promise is for every single one of us! So, the question is simple: Have we done steps 1 and 2 so that God can perform step 3 in our lives?

So there is an entry fee to entering the Door? Doing steps is a work-based salvation. So if a person does all the things you mentioned then they have something to boast about. The Gospel is about Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection. He died our death and paid our penalty for sin. If I believe Christ paid my debt through His finished work, where is the boasting? It's all Christ. Baptism does not save. Confession of sins does not save. Repenting of your sins do not save. Repent in Greek means change of mind (the New Testament was written in Greek; context is key). We are to change our mind about what we believe saves us. You need to keep the spotlight on Christ and not on steps to approach Christ or steps to obey Him. You are blocking God's grace with obeying the law.

The thief on the cross was not baptized. The Phillipian jailer was not baptized. There is no mention of the disciples being baptized. The paralytic man was not baptized but received forgiveness of sins. The woman who washes Jesus’ feet at Simon the pharisee's house received forgiveness of sins. Cornelius' household was saved but no mention of baptism. "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message." What message? The Gospel of Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection. I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. 1Cor 1:14-17 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Eph 1:13-14 Hearing the Gospel of your salvation? Having believed? You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise? No mention of baptism. Baptism does not save. The Gospel of Jesus Christ saves.

Christ is the Living Water. When we believe in the Gospel of Christ's finished, redemptive work at the cross, His burial and resurrection, we are immersed, we are baptized, in Christ. Stop adding work-based and Lordship salvation to His completed work at the cross.

I think the biggest lie in the Christian churches is the teaching that there is no escape from the flesh nature. In truth, The flesh has no power over those who have truly been Born Again. The struggle is when people try to conquer their sin by their own power, because they have not received the Holy Spirit: Collosians 2:11 "and in Him (Jesus) you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ," Romans 8:9-11 "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you." 1 John 3 "Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister." When Paul spoke about his struggles with sin, he was speaking about his past before he received the Holy Spirit, because he also said: 1 Corinthians 15:34 : "Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-I say this to your shame." Paul also said, "Those who are in the flesh cannot please God." Romans 8;1-8 When Jesus said, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." He had not sent the Holy Spirit yet. Jesus told the Pharisees, "You will die in your sins." For anyone who dies in their flesh, they are guaranteed to end up in Hell. “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” Romans 8:13. God's grace does not allow us to go on sinning. God's grace changes us. God's grace does not free us to sin. It frees us from sin. Decieved Christians have a false sense of security believing that they can sin until the day they die and still go to heaven, but they don't have faith in the power of the Holy Spirit to free them from sin. To deny the power of the Holy Spirit to deliver us from sin so that we can live a righteous life is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

This False Gospel is Free Will. That a dead man in sin chooses God first, and that salvation is of the free will of man, where Christ died for every individual without exception and yet the atonement of Christ is not ACTIVATED until one makes himself his own high priest and makes a "decision" for Christ. The Bible declares that Salvation is of the Lord! Salvation is not just some offer, it's a declaration of an accomplished finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross for HIS people! Matthew 1:21
