Hey, italian here 😁 so, just to make things clear, "mammone" is not just a man who loves his parents (and his mom in particular), it's a man who lets parents interfere with his life even if he's an adult and maybe married with children. It's considered a bad thing because this kind of men usually don't really grow up or do choires in the house and never take their partner's side during an argument with the intrusive mother... I hope it's more clear now with some example!

The "players" are insecure, always looking for validation, not happy with themselves, but most men are responsible, determined and more attached than we think they are. ✌Generally speaking. 😊

Being a lot abroad, I can easily see how many of these stereotypes are true. The most visible ones for me are three: Italians are smoother and very flirty; they the are a lot more attentive on the details about their look and style; they like to eat well and generally they like to cook. Of course it depends on people, but I think these three are the more true. Even the most shy, the worst cook and the less stylish Italian do these three things more and better than other nationalities. For me the most shocking living abroad was the shyness of the guys, which for me was considered shyness but maybe just because I am used to a more direct way to speak. If an Italian is interested, he will let you know it. It's not the same with French or Americans, for example. Of course is my experience, can't speak about all the countries. About the other things, they change more: mommy boys yes, but from south to north it changes a lot. About unfaithfulness, to be honest I don't think so. Yes, Italians like to flirt and are very easy on compliments, but generally they are very strong with long term relationships and are less open-minded about open relationships than you can think. About what the girls are saying on self curing, I think it's a very cultural thing: in Italy there was a very deep and radicated machism, the man was THE man with all the masculinity traits well enlightened. Now it's changing of course, but women still grew up a little bit with this idea of the macho. I am not speaking about power stuff, but about appearance and behavior towards women. This is a little true through all the south European countries to be honest.. And with this come all the general idea of the direct man who has to conquer and doesn't pay attention to cure because is "girly stuff". It's a mentality which is changing slowly. It's funny you mention it, because one stereotype Italian have about English people (well more the Anglo-Saxon world) is that they don't cure their appearance too much and are sloppy (maybe for an "Italian prospective").

As a German i think Italian Men have ...even along other Men...a very Good Reputation, something that is very Rare in this World. It is because of the Fashion and Design and the Food ....Thats what Italy is WorldFamous and Respected for. And Italians should be aware of that and should keep it that Way. Please! That is really important .....to keep Italy, Italian! Because This is a very precious „Brand.“ And even the Shady and Gangster Image....is more looked at in a Funny than a hateful Way. To me it is impossible to dislike Italians. :) Even if they Dislike me...... And Italian Women are considered Worldwide as the most Beautiful.

These girls who criticize moms will become the same kind of mammas who will be criticized by their son's girlfriend. Granted. 👍

North Is the true center of Italy and its heavly industrialized so therefore people are alot more "timid" but also work alot (generally speaking) In the south people practice agricolture and its generally the "poor zone" of Italy , theres lots of mafia but also alot of nature and pizza too

L'università in cui ho studiato distava dalla casa dove abitavo con i miei genitori poco più di un chilometro. Perchè avrei dovuto andare a stare per conto mio ? Per spendere soldi che non avevo che avrebbero1 tirato fuori i miei ? Mi sono lauteato, avevo un buon lavoro ben pagato ma ho continuato a vivere con i miei non per ragioni finanziarie ma perchè ci stavo bene, fino ai 34 anni Mi sono sposato e ho messo su casa per conto mio. A 49 anni ho divorziato, alla mia ex moglie è rimasto l'appartamento che abitavamo e che era in comproprietà, a lei è stato affidato anche nostro figlio. Sono ritornato a vivere con mia madre rimasta vedova in un appartamento grande. A lei faceva piacere che ci fossi , io risparmiavo un affitto e ero felice di stare con lei. Ho ora 67 anni, sono in pensione e continuo a vivere con mia madre ormai molto vecchia 91 anni. Siamo felici entrambi. Sono un mammone ? Se lo sono non mi pento di esserlo, anzi sono contento.
