Maybe worth expanding this video with a graphic showing a channel strip (with tap points) to a bus (with tap points) to a matrix. This would show the entire possible signal flow, show one step at a time and explain all the taps which are so often mid understood on digital consoles as analog doesn’t feature much of this!

thanks Drew, really helps with my monitor and recording mix busses with my M32R. The +M and moving dynamics after EQ is new to me. Awesome! Best wishes.

Loving this board more all the time. Thanks for the further explanation. Makes a lot more sense now. I like those "+M" taps too. Basically, if you want to do something in particular with this board, there most likely is way to do it, it just may take some navigating through some pretty thick weeds. 🤣

Idea for video: When recording to USB-DAW can we capture pre-fader and post-fader (onboard DSP) for each instrument channel to capture clean pre-amp and the session mix in two channels in the DAW? Thanks :)

Thanks Drew - any chance of a video on setting up and using the X32 for a virtual sound check ?

Hi Drew, Thank you for all the tutorials you have doing over the past years. I have learnt a lot from you. I have a question, I'm hoping you can help me out with. I'm using an Midas M32R Live mixer and I would like to send a stereo mix bus mix (11 and 12) to OBS over USB (X Live Card) (M1 Mac Mini). On input channel 1 is my kick drum. On my input channel 2 is my snare drum. I'm using an analog snake and I'm using the 16 XLR inputs and 4 aux inputs on the back of the console. I do not have a digital stage box. At the same time I'm doing a multi track recording into my DAW ( Bitwig Studio). I've routed the mix busses to outputs 1 and 2 . OBS is only able to see outputs 1 and 2. In my DAW, channels 1 and 2 is receiving the mix bus signal together with the kick and snare inputs. Also OBS is receiving the same signal. Is there a work around this scenario where I can get just the mix bus signal into OBS without the kick and snare mixed in and also the multitrack recording without having to remove the kick and snare on Input channels 1 and 2 ? Thank you for considering my question. Jason

Thanks Drew, this is definitely helpful. Have you ever gone in to detail on how and when DCAs will impact pre-fader monitor feeds? That's been another frustration for me. I think I have finally figured it out, but would welcome a more in depth discussion to verify my observations. I have one singer that insists on lots of reverb in his IEM mix. I typically use my 8th DCA to control all FX returns to my mains primarily for when the singers talk to the audience between songs. However, when I do this he complains about his FXs "going in and out." How do I avoid this?

I have just now started using the M32R Live at my church. Is there a way to mute a mic (like the pastor's lapel) everywhere (to main LR, all mix buses etc) with one button? I currently have the inputs to my floor monitor mix buses set to pre-fader and the outputs set to post-fader, which works well.

Can I route the X32 Card out to be Post Fader so the volume levels are effected on the LiveStream signal but not include any of the Eq, gate, etc.? What I'm trying to do is set up a full mix to a DAW from the Card Out and EQ the Live Stream on the Daw for each individual channels and have the Volume of each channel effected from the FOH so that I do not need to Mix engineers, which I do not have.

I watched all your videos I watched everybody else’s videos and I don’t know if there’s anything you can do about a video for these subjects. I understand your videos always have to do with the X 32 and you mention the other types of mixers And what you would see with those as in the compact etc. The first one that would have to do with any kind of board is the safes. I think you even did one and I know they’re opposite of what you think they do but there’s two ways to do safes and then if you do it per scene. I have my stuff working but if I had to explain to somebody I would have no clue because I have saved for example routing on one scene and then another scene I may have different routing and I save it but it doesn’t save it per scene Excedrin Excedrin etc. it is so confusing. The second one would be for example I have the producer and a S 16 snake and under AES a I have output 1-8 and 9-16 and I’m just not understanding how it works it just does. I think a lot of people have a problem with understanding a lot of features on the board even after watching every video on RU-vid because the explanation is there it just doesn’t seem to be deep enough that somebody can say yes I know how this works without a doubt. I think a lot of people like me and say this works I’m Not doing anything else to possibly mess it up

Doing it with post fade and being able to use the fader It seems to me that the fader setting would be the equivalent of an Aux Master Volume on an analog console. Is that correct?

Thanks Drew I'm in Cameroon central Africa my question is how to use 2 mixers and 1 DL 32 on stage ( FOH/Monitor) and be able to control 4 output of DL 32 and Gain from FOH and set monitors Mixer control the other 12 outputs ?

mixing on X32 for 3 years now.. i finally know what that +M mean.. i genuinely though it was a M for "Master" and i was thinking "why the fuck would I need the master level for this" holy damn i feel stupid not knowing that for all this time

And I just watched your video again about safes and it seems it does work only per scene. I just know sometimes I a scene and copied it to a different location and renamed it but when I changed for example a name on channel one and went back to my original scene, that channel one name was now changed also, and I know I was trying to use safes to stop that but it just didn’t work

Hey Drew , I’m a Drummer making multicam drum videos , using the X32 to mix the drums. Using onboard dynamics/FX. So I pre mix the drums and the mp3 I’m playing to. So, I just bought a ATEM mini Pro ISO , how would YOU send the audio from the X32 to the ATEM ?
@jpjakelee3160
@jpjakelee3160 2 года назад
If I am not wrong, I think the ATEM mini only has a 3.5mm input jack for the sounds. If it is, I would set up 2 mixbuses as Stereo, send all your drums sounds there and make sure to pan each drum mic according to your liking and finally, buy a stereo xlr to 3.5mm and hook it up to the ATEM mini. Keep in mind the stereo xlr to 3.5mm could decrease the audio quality but as long as its a short cable it should be fine.
