Rahu and Ketu, also known respectively as North and South Lunar Nodes, are common terms that are used frequently in the Vedic Astrology system ( Vedic Jyotish). Understand their astronomical definitions through this easy-to-understand short animated clip.
This is a simple illustration of the Solar System. It not according to scale and proportion and is simplified for the purpose of clearer description.

@Vedic astrology through animation Can u give source from Ved which says Rahu is a point and not a demon..As per our (Rig Veda 5.40, 5-9; Subbarayappa and Sarma, 1985 p 196) rahu head was cut by Mohini head Rahu take revenge from SUN and MOON and hence eclipse occur If tomorrow NASA ISRO stop giving the exact date and timing how on Earth will these astrologer tell tomorrow next week/month is eclipse show me your calculations methods if any written in any hindu scriptures for predicting Eclipse because I only found that its the Rahu revenge which causes eclipse

For those who are looking for how Rahu and Ketu influences humans? Rahu and Ketu are cosmic allegories who substitute planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto(along with Moon) in Sidereal Astrology, as these planets are too far away and remain in one single Zodiac for too long.. The Moon(Chandra) completes its orbit round the Earth in about a month crossing the orbit of Earth twice in the same period, once when it goes from south to north and at another time while travelling from north to south… The ascending point is called "Rahu" and descending point - "Ketu". These have retrograde motion in the Zodiac at the rate of 19°20' per year… It has been established beyond doubt by Astrology that Rahu and Ketu influence an individual's life, at times more than other planets… These nodal points Rahu and Ketu affect our central nervous system as well as sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems which work on the principles of electromagnetic systems. The nodal points are psychosomatic which govern not only the stress level of our mind but also the activities of hormones, blood circulation and function of the heart.

@@animeeditzz4362 There are studies and speculations suggesting that the revolving planets and planetary alignments orchestrates Solar activity which is responsible for Geomagnetism, now Geomagnetism is known to influence wide variety of organisms including humans. Scientists have found traces of Magnetic particles in human brain particularly in brain stem, Cerebrum and Cerebellum. Magneto-reception is an ability of an organism to be able to detect and find direction with the help of Geomagnetic field. Recently even humans are said to have such traits. In a study it is concluded that Geomagnetic field conditions plays a major role in development of foetus. Researchers like Harlan True Stetson, Maxwell Oscar Johnson and American Radio Engineer John H.Nelson have discovered that revolving planets causes Solar activity. British Astrophysicist and Astronomer Dr. Percy Seymour has written 2 startling books on Astrology explaining the possible Scientific mechanism behind Astrology. He was ostracized and criticised by his colleagues and Science Community for writing such books. According to Dr. Percy Seymour, the idea of planets influencing Solar activity through resonance is neglected. Most recently, Physicist Dr. Frank Stefani from Germany and Dr. Jóse Abreu from Switzerland have come to the conclusion that revolving planets causes Solar activity. Dr.Jane Blizard’s work for NASA showed evidence for heliocentric planetary conjunctions, oppositions, and certain 90° alignments giving rise to violent solar disturbances. Due to this, the fluctuations in the earth’s magnetic field will change from 0.0ci to 2.0ci (ci - International magnetic character figure), as noted by geophysicists. This means earth’s magnetism will change depending on disturbances caused by solar magnetic wind. This change in earth’s magnetism will bring changes in human beings. He declared, “If all these speculations are proved to be right, it means that we were totally mistaken about Medieval Astrology.” Swiss Astronomer Johann Rudolf Wolf was the first Astronomer to relate planetary alignments to the formation of Sunspots. The planets are said to orchestrate Solar activity through tidal resonance, there is a concept called orbital resonance in Astrophysics, even Barycenter (an Astronomical and Astrophysical concept) also plays a role in orchestrating Solar activity.

@@animeeditzz4362 In March 1951, an American Radio Engineer John H Nelson discovered that there was a correlation between different Planetary positions with respect to propagation of Radio waves, he observed that different Planetary positions orchestrated formation of Sunspots on the surface of Sun which then caused the distortion in propagation of Radio waves. The discovery of an American Radio Engineer John H Nelson in March 1951 where he discovered that there was a correlation between different Planetary positions with respect to propagation of Radio waves suggested an objective evidence for Astrology. The discovery of Radio Engineer John Nelson seemed to suggest that alignments of planets with respect to the Sun also had an effect upon Earth. These angles also seem to coincide with Astrological aspects: Opposition 180° Quincunx 150° Trine 120° Square 90° Sextile 60° Semi-sextile 30° In traditional Astrology, the opposition, square and trine aspects are said to be powerful and other aspects are said to be less powerful.

As I revisit, I have a doubt. You show the moon's orbit around earth and earth orbit around sun in synchronous way right? In this part of the video, why does moon orbit only once as earth revovles around the sun? It should revolve 12 times as we have 12 full moons and 12 new moons in a year. The green dots that you showed are not rahu and Ketu but actually points of full moon and new moon. Rahu and Ketu occur when the new moon or full moon becomes an eclipse. Correct me if I am wrong. May be change the video accordingly. Thanks.

Yes, you are correct, moon does orbit eath roughly 12 times per year and..and we didn't show it in the video. See, the point of the video was to explain the definition of rahu and ketu and so it is a very simple animation, the scales are all off and the proportions are a mess but it is a bit easy on the eyes and easy to understand the concept of rahu and ketu. We have mentioned that the scales and proportions are off in the video description. About the green dots, they are infact rahu and ketu and they play a major role in causing eclipses because there is an eclipse on newoon and full moon day if the moon also happens to be in the vicinity of rahu or ketu on that day. We are considering making a video on eclipses soon where we will explain the role of rahu and ketu in causing an eclipse. Thank you for question. We are continuously trying to improve our videos and animations and comments like these help us in doing that. 💛

This is an excerpt from a Polish book on Vedic astrology. "Above all, the positions of Rahu and Ketu play an important role in astrology to this day. Astrologers therefore need a system of computation that would allow them to determine the position of these bodies at any given moment. and Ketu were also necessary for the astrologers of the time. There is no evidence that any other method of calculation was used than the principles set out in Surya-Siddhanta. Like the Vedic scriptures themselves, they may be from a distant age. It is difficult, of course, that these rules were always used. Certainly, however, Vedic society, with its emphasis on astrology and the timing of religious ceremonies by astronomical arrangements, needed more than a mere description of eclipses and other phenomena in the universe.". ..translated in google hope there are no bugs 🙂

This Video is marvelous. This is a wonderful explanation. Easy to understand More logical.. Wishing you all the best to come out from your intellectual thinking process. You are trying to add a “ Astrology is a Science” status . I think the cosmic world have decided to get something out from you to this world. Moon is orbiting the earth in 27.3 days. But it take 29.5 days to change from new moon to the next new moon day. This is due to the movement or orbiting of earth during that time. I understand that. “But the moons orbit itself rotates around the earth once in approximately 18 years so Ragu and kethu also takes 18 years to complete one revolution around the earth.” This is what is recorded in this u tube. But moon is orbiting the kalapurusha chakkara in approx. in one month. Where as ragu and kethu take 18 years to do the same.. Moon, Ragu and Kethu are a combined package revolving the earth. . How can you explain this time difference. Also how can you explain 18 years for ragu dissai and 7 years for Kethu dissai. I will appreciate your explanation.

Great effort to present Vedic Astrology. However you decided to mix modern Western astronomy into it, by showing heliocentric model. Vedic scriptures present geocentric model. Reference is found in the 5th Canto of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, Chapter 21: Thus the sun-god travels through the universe for a distance of 95,100,000 yojanas (760,800,000 miles from the Earth) at a speed of 16,004 miles at every moment. At the center of the universe is the Mount Meru with the Earth. The Earth is stationary and the Sun revolves around the Earth at great distance. That is the understanding of ancient vedic astronomers and astrologers. Please consider these points 🙏

Thank you for watching the video and for the comment sir. Yes, you are correct, the Srimad Bhagvatam does say the sun revolves around the earth. But you have to understand its a relative process. From earth the sun is seen revolving the earth while from sun the earth will be seen revolving it. You can make calculations based on perspective of earth or the sun and the results will be correct for that perspective. It's easier for us to make calculations if we assume sun is moving because we are fixed on earth, and the results will still be correct. It's a mathematical trick. The world today knows how earth revolves the sun and the sun is stationary but still chooses to say "The sun rises in the East and sets in the West". In the strict sense of things this is wrong no? Can future generations accuse us of not knowing the motion of earth based upon this? Therefore Srimad Bhagwatam explains it that way. There are many other references like Surya Sidhhanta which also explains how earth revolves the sun. I am thinking about making a specific video on this issue. Please stay tuned for it. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@vedicastrologythroughanimation yes, the Lord is leaving us the possibility to see it and calculate it both ways and seemingly the result will be mathematically the same. But the problem with the geocentric model is that it will bring you away from sastra, as you have to add things to that speculative model, which are not mentioned in sastra to make it "right" all the way. I will mention the "tilting" and "wobbling" of the Earth. Where is this mentioned in the sastra? The explanation of the Srimad Bhagavatam is in it perfect, no need to speculate and interpret it if you want to call it "vedic". Otherwise I have no problem if you think you have better proposal than the Puranas, you can come with some other name. But like this it is not really "vedic" or "puranic" in a strict sense, it is what you have interpreted into it. That is why we have Buddhism, Neo Hinduism, "modern" this and that. It is legitime, but then we also know what is what. Thank you for your kind consideration. I am looking forward to the new video you have mentioned and will take the liberty to comment on it. 🙏

Vedas, particularly Puranas, present a geocentric model of our plane, where Earth is stationary and the Sun goes around the Earth. It seems we both agree. 2. The relationship between the Sun and the Earth can be described by using a model of relative motion, where by using both the geocentric and the heliocentric model we come to the same mathematical results. We both agree. However, the problem and major differences between the two models arise when we try to explain the appereance of day, night and the seasons. 5th Canto of the Bhagavatam is explaining that the Sun goes around the Bhu Mandala, which is as almost wide as the Universe. According to Bhagavatam, Sun rotates around all the planets, not only the Earth. So this model is quite different, than the modern scientific model. There is a mistake in this video in the end when the points moving along faster as if the path of moon rates at the speed of earth. I think you need to correct it to prevent misinterpretation.

Sir, its a nice question and I too have pondered over the same question for a long time. Vedic texts are very rich and deep in meaning. It uses similes, metaphors and synecdoche that add layers to the meanings. They deserve rigorous analysis and certain wisdom to be understood. May be its the same with the story in question. Although the definition of Rahu and Ketu presented in the video is correct and is in confirmation of definition from "Surya Sidhhanta" and also modern science, currently I am not able to answer your particular question because at present , I too dont know the link between the story and the physical definition of Rahu and Ketu. The jury is still out. I will share the knowledge if i come across it in the future. Thank you for watching the video and making the comment.

@@vedicastrologythroughanimation I can try to answer if you permit. Rahu and Ketu are two points of eclipses in a solar year. These are symbolically said to have drunk Amrita. Meaning as long as Earth, moon and Sun exist, these points of intersection exist. This is eternity for our existential frame of reference. Their relation to snake 🐍 implies the wobbly path taken by the changing rahu and Ketu points as years proceed, as nicely depicted in the video above. If you have more doubts, do pose 🙏🏻thanks.

If it is scientifically proved to be true ,we must feel proud of our ancestors Rishis Munis for their observation and foretellings of solar and lunar eclipses with two shadow points called chhaya grahas 180 degrees opposite to each other,by associating the event with Avery good story of samudramanthan and distribution of nectar and wine by lord Vishnu in a most beautiful lady form called mohini, amongst devas and demans and a deman named Rahu the son of singhika seated in the que of devas between sun and moon gods took nectar by mistake and on pointing out the fact by sun and moon lord had cut his head but due to drinking of nectar he was alive with his head and trunk body and became the cause of solar and lunar eclipses.thanks

Nice video! 🙏🏻 One small correction.. there is no term planet in Vedic astrology.. only Graha.. Rahu ,Ketu are called as shadow Grahas.. Graha means exert subtle force on something ( in this context these 9 grahas exert force on earth and hence all living beings)

Isn't the moon 5 degrees from the ecliptic plane? Sounds like your said 35 degree and the animation is highely exaggerated.

Thank you ☀️ My wife is a June Cancer and I'm a July Cancer I've known of the Moon being our ruler but never heard of Ketu or Rahu before.. Im trying to understand our differences cuz we have kids and I don't want to break up.. I was losing a little hope because she is a Fire Tiger and I'm a Metal Monkey which says we are not compatible. It was actually feeling like it.. So I went back at looking at the fact that were both cancers. I wanted to find some hope and insight. Now I have an interesting thing to explore lol . I knew it was something,,, just couldn't put my finger on it.. Thank you and God bless.. One question tho : Some people were calling these planets with no mass , which was a little confusing. Are they 2 points or planets ? Ty

I doubt if this is a legitimate explanation. When talking about earth, our puranas do not consider planet earth but they talk about 'Bhumandala' which is a very large chunk of flat and stationary earth with the 7 nether worlds (Underground regions) or lokas underneath the surface of Bhumandala (Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Rasatala, Talatala, Mahatala and Patala). The Sun, moon and other planets move around mount Meru whose base is located at the center of Bhumandala. And the distance between earth and other planets is described in terms of vertical height above bhumandala.

Actually it takes 18 years for rahu(North node) -ketu(south node) to complete one full rotation in opposite direction. rahu's nakshtras are Ardra, Swati and Sadhayam Or Shatabisha. And ketu nakshatras are Ashwini, Magha and moola. To all who still are not clear about rahu and ketu, it is nothing but geometric point of solar ecliptic plane where the moon crosses while rotating. That's why rahu and ketu are told as shadow planets. One important point here is, in your birth chart you can see rahu and ketu. It tells who you are. Your soul growth. Your lagna defines the fate for this life. So pls study your chart and realize where you are in this birth life cycle. To attain moksha, rahu-ketu placement is most important. Rahu shows your desires in this life and your future. Ketu denotes your past life and your knowledge. So pls neutralize it and balance your desires and try to gain more knowledge. Once you attain wisdom, it will automatically guide you to the right path. That's why ketu is symbol of knowledge. It will suck everything that you have with nothing left and give knowledge. Remember Palani Murugar. Too much of desires and bad character will definitely pull you again for next birth. That's how the design is done by God in this universe. See thirukural #360. It is very hot gas. process of preparing everlasting ghee comes out of heating milk and processing it many ways. Conquering your mind is the biggest fight. Fight within yourself. That's what Lord Dhakshinamoorthy's Chin mudra denotes to self-control those 3 demons inside you. Try meditating with that chin mudra for atleast 5 mins daily and tell within yourself that you will self-control and stay positive. That's it. Leave the rest to god. Improve your positivity and Sun and Jupiter (Guru) will pull you to move towards moksha. Meena rasi is the 12th house and it is the Moksha house. Lord of Meena rasi is Guru or Jupiter. So Zero down all your bad habits like Sexual thoughts and habits, desire for money, gold etc. Jealousy, Anger, short temper etc. Do good and be good. If your Thoughts, words and actions are good everything will be good to you. Choice is yours. God has given that free will. So we should never miss use that free will. That is where Rahu-ketu plays that important role. Remember, though it's very very tough, but it's all for your soul growth and Good Karma.
