I truly don't understand wtf they mean by the current camera being too easy and having too much range. Dondi was showing Stego as an example of it being unfair that it could see all around its body. Problem is, it literally can't. He was using his developer camera that lets him zoom out to a ridiculous degree. A normal player can never zoom that far. In reality, a Stego looking to its right side would see at most like 2 feet of grass on its left side. These fucking goofy goobers are trying to fix a problem that does not exist.
@@peterd4047 Also not even that long ago, he was ranting in a stream about how he would never change the camera into First person or close to it for the dinos, because of how it would work when humans get added. Now all of a sudden out of nowhere he says "yea no one likes this camera so im changing it to first person pretty much". The guy is speaking to a fucking wall and acting as if the wall is having a convo with him, agreeing with whatever he says. Never in the entire games history has anyone ever said the camera was bad. He has just gotten the idea into his head and taking it as cannon. Im seriously considering that the guy has some form of schizophrenia. Because he will make changes from out of nowhere and always acts as if everyone agrees with him. Even if he has never communicated with anyone outside his circle.
@@nicksalehi97 You might be on to something... Something is clearly not right, and not even just normal "hes an eccentric jerk who cant make up his mind and takes it out on others" sort of way
Now I kinda had this idea for a while and kinda kept it to myself. But i think hes trying to improve more roleplaying than actual pvp content because i think hes trying to groom the girls in the discord (i dont have concrete proof, but thats kinda the vibe i keep getting from him when he talks about the discord and stuff relating to the updates) Like, he wants ppl to kinda fk off away from his roleplaying in-game by making it harder to fight in general and making it easier for him to win fights when he wants to defend his egirls.
@@SirKolass I started eating popcorn 5 comments ago. I am shook that this is even being questioned.. of course he doesn't *want* his game to die... SheeEEaeeeesh! He is a giant man baby with the ego of a Hippo and gets dead set on stupid concepts and powers through them like a maniac.
AmBuShInG iS tOo HaRd This proves a few things: 1. The devs never play their own game, and when they do, they probably do it all at the same time in a group, leading to this feel that they never get ambushed 2. They legitimately just want carnivores to destroy everything with no counterplay, classic carnivore bias 3. They have a complete misunderstanding of what horror actually means. Having your eyesight, movement, senses, and ability to fight all restricted at the same time is not scary or terrifying, it's just fucking annoying. They have a completely surface level idea of what scary and terrifying and horror actually means.
Exactly. Notice how when somebody is comepletly out of options and know they will die no matter what happens they suddenly lose all fear? That’s cause once there is nothing you can do what is there to even be scared of? When you have the sliver of hope that you can live on, every moment of fear is also a moment of hope. With no hope there is no fear. So there is no horror game when you can’t do anything
i've also learned from a friend that limiting camera movement could cause motion sickness of some sort? and they would stop playing the game entirely if the new camera system is added, it just also just gives a strong sense of anxiety and i cant look at my own pretty dinosaur anymore :(
Just remember that when you dig deep into the dino game lore, Dondi is the villain of pretty much every single one of these games. He is a big reason as to why primal carnage never took off, Beasts of Bermuda and Path of Titans spawned because of arguments between a player and another dev respectively, and obviously we see what is happening to the isle right now. With the insane amount of backlash for the new camera I won’t be surprised if this finally dips the player count and acts as a reality check. Although a reality check like this should’ve happened a long time ago.
Fancy seeing you here Also you are absolutely right he is the main reason ps4 primal carnage extinction is where it is at right now ,thank the lord they are making primal carnage evolution
They should make you have to individually move each leg cause moving is too easy in its current state, also the screen should go black each 10 seconds, it's not like the actual players already blink irl
You know what, honestly people need to start implementing ideas to fuck with his head at this point like you just presented so Dondi the great and powerful can come up with his own. You know, help him run it into the ground quicker.
I see three options for why this is happening 1) Dondi has a very, very specific idea of what "fun" and "the correct way" to play the game are 2) Dondi is trying to kill the game without having to just say "games dead" because that will give him a ton of backlash and put the blame solely on him 3) Dondi died to a stego, raged, and somehow thinks the camera is what makes it strong instead of it being 1 of 2 apexes in a game full of lightweights Could be a combination of all three, wouldn't surprise me at this point
I love how Dondi was saying legit like around 2 weeks ago, that its gonna be good with humans being 1st person and go on that 3rd person for dinos are good... blah blah blah... but now its suddenly not... i wonder what happened between that time
@@sitharixaos1217the reason of this camera change is that he approached a stego from behind as omni and got killed, literaly, he explains it on a stream
@@ender_z4nd3r83 yeah Dondi is TRASH at this game. Only a moron attacks stego from behind. Pro players use coordination and bite the stego on the nose while dodging tail swings. He'd actually know this if he had any skill at combat or if he ever watched me and my friends play.
I love how every time they wish to implement some made up limitation, it's always "well ambushing is difficult and this will make it easier" Like bruh LMAO
I'm no game developer, but I honestly want to know how Dondi does anything. Like does he just come into the office with a new coked up fever dream of an idea and everyone else knows they'll get fired if they argue with him so they just compliment his genius and do whatever he wants cause hey, money is money? Camera changes aside he's always coming up with the most convoluted ideas that you know he'll hype up but have to be watered down before release because big shock, most of his ideas aren't possible or are more complicated than he expected. I just don't know why he thinks having a camera in the neck is 'more immersive' - it's like Dondi, immersion is done through so much like sound design, animation, seamless UI and responsive controls and breathtaking visuals; I doubt anybody thinks Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Colossus, hell even Okami was less 'immersive' because it wasn't first person. It's like he played one of the Resident Evil remakes and assumed the camera being so close to the back was scary by default.
Rdr2 is an absolutely perfect reference. Not once in my entire gameplay did I feel not immersed by the 3rd person view. Sure I enjoyed playing in 1st person at times but I'm almost constantly in 3rd person. Same with gta
lmao this game made me go to path of titans and on that game there is footsteps that sound like a semi truck and its still easy to get ambushes. Awareness is key for avoiding ambushes not these dog meat camera changes. These devs and some of the fanbase eat yummy lead based paints daily.
Lying in wait, or sneaking up on something has always been fun to do, even on big ass apexes lol, just a matter of staying as subtle as possible with your approach or positioning, and always keeping your headphones turned up to where not even a compy can slink away unheard. Last bit is exaggerated of course, and the rain is both a benefit and a curse, but path of titans is an objectively better dinosaur roleplaying game for a more casual playerbase, but maintaining potential to be tense, heartpounding, or downright horrifying. For example, a full grown yuty resting not ten feet away from where I, a fresh adolescent maip, am hiding. Oh, qnd a consistent supply of mods on all platforms that often come in waves of up to 4 or 5, which is groovy lol.
@@tt.60fps59 yeah, eating and drinking, the thing you need to do like every 20 minutes to stay alive, almost like it's a very common thing that will allow for ambushes all the time.
@@tt.60fps59 it was not needed. Only zero skill players cry about not being able to ambush. I never had a problem sneaking up on dinos even in wide open fields. Smart players use the terrain to their advantage. Smart players know to sneak up when the prey dino is looking away and smart players know how to use bushes to conceal their position and get closer.
@@kenshinhimura9387 This. This right here. It's the same to avoid danger when bring a prey animal to keep out of sight. It also brings a ton of anticipation and fear of trusting a hill to cover one side to get to more cover, lay low, keep quiet and get where you need to be. Why I say it's the same for prey animals is when you spot a Predator player, need to get around them, hide away from the (or just give up on your goal to play the long wait) but it's the same as ambushing. Keeping a eye on your threat, using terrain to keep out of sight, then proceeding to get to your goal. One is avoidance, one is pursuit. Each had their _OmniPresEnt_ camera, but it doesn't mean the other players can see you. Predators keep view or sound to keep tabs to ambush, Prey keeps view or sound to avoid being attacked. Using terrain or tactics that despite both players having a OMNIPRESENT camera as Dondi likes to call it, but despite that one party still can't see their target.
@@kenshinhimura9387to add on to your point of sneaking up on dinosaurs in open fields, I snook up on a cera yesterday as a carno on a completely open field, almost no bushes or trees present, only tiny mounds
Could you maybe please do a video playing as Teno or something, with the camera zoomed in like is shown in the stream? Like an actual survival video showing what it's going to be like with that change.
They might as well remove the skin system as well. What's the point of making a cool skin if I never get to look at it in game. Also that means no more Nice looking screenshots either
0:18 so basically you spend couple of hours to be an adult big meatball to be a victim 100% of the time and wont be able to swing the tail correctly because you cant see when the utha jumps against you. Sounds about The Isle, classic just making it more and more realistic and forgetting the part about the "virtual world" and the fact that its a video game
out of all things to focus on in a game that needs a lot of work they chose the camera. like why? i thought we hit the bottom of the barrel when they wanted to increased growth times. I'm scared what they'll choose next.
Hmm im so exited to grow my sauropod, its just going to take a week and a half while for the half of it i wont be able to see anything around me, because i will have to hide in the jungle not to be a easy target
The only thing they had to fix about the camera is limiting the rotation to 180 degrees based on the position of the eyes. But apparently Dondi doesn't know as well that dinosaurs have their eyes on the side of their heads.
@@Nickvdb93Yeah this is something I cant wrap my head around, every one of the "big 3" herbivore when compared to their carnivore equivalent more or less demolishes the carnivore. Pachy > Omni Teno > Carno(and Cera ofc) Stego > Deino Tbh in most cases the carnivore needs/wants at least a 2v1 fight to have any decent shot at winning the fight if its players of similar skill.
Bro, Omni plays slow, you’ll never go face tanking someone as Omni, you create windows of attack to either pounce or bite, you will never need to spam attack as Omni, with teno there will be multiple occasions where you’ll need to dish out a ton of kicks in seconds
@@misterionorman9764 just because it plays slow doesnt mean you shouldn't have the option to go nuts on somebody for something of its size and agility a 3 sec cooldown is unreasonable
3:59 I'm sorry.. what? Hit-and-run tactics? You mean the *entire* functionality of Carno and Pachy? Is toxic??? The literal way that the devs designed them to be played because Pachy is too weak to actually kill carnivores anymore and Carno has evolved to be speedy? What next, are they going to nerf dryo is it can't dodge anymore because people want to eat more dryos??
Pachy is fine imo, doesnt need to be able to kill a carno 1v1 and the fracture is pretty broken. Hit and run tactics are the omnis only tool tho, and I dont think I have to tell anyone that omni went heavily downhill since gateway released and is basically unplayable at this point, at least if u want to kill something thats not AI.
@Kampfcookie100 I forgot about Omni, thank you. But my point still stands. The fact that they are further destroying any dinos that have this functionality is absurd.
“Ambushes are too hard”, so their excuse for this horrible camera change is, they want to cater to the worst carnivore players in the game at the expense of herbivores, omnivores and skilled carnivores. Lovely
It's not even herbivores omnivores and skilled carnivores. You can make the new camera work. But why would you? We like seeing our dinos. Kissen keeps saying you need to BE the dino. Dawg ain't nobody ever finna be a dinosaur. The large cam simulates the senses and instinct of a dino better than the shitty neck cam.
@@sugoi9680 the funniest part is, this shit isnt even immersive, it doesn’t make someone feel like they are seeing through the eyes of their dinosaur because they still have to look at the back of its head. They should create a first person view for the dinos, and allow servers to put it on toggle so players can choose or server owners can lock players in 1st or 3rd person. Like they arent even going all the way and doing a 1st person view, they’re doung an ugly camera zoom where a third of your dino will take up the screen and that is even worse than 1st person because it feels half-assed. I won’t “feel like i’m the dinosaur”, i’ll feel like i’m watching a gopro pet video of a dinosaur The devs also apparently want to ignore the amazing peripheral vision that herbivores and other side-eyed animals have
@@AgentMercer Yeah I mean idk how tf first person side eyes would even look. But it's not immersive because dinos would not rely primarily on sight like us
in my opinion. the only toxic gameplay is hacking. if a game allows you to do something without you having to cheat, then at that point its probs an intended feature or a design flaw. heres to hoping that mixpacking can be penalised in some way, but i guess it's intended.
I belong to those who are a little bit annoyed by Discord Groups (sometimes even mixpacking) just playing to go on a man hunt or steamrolling the server. That was sometimes in the past (spiro time) a problem with some groups (sometimes streamers being there with their friends or fanbase). Seeing videos of those KOSing same species because it is a "pvp game" and taking the chances from solos joining up, because they do not belong to the exquisite Club of "friends" does something to the game, that I would call out to be somewhat "toxic". Also the Carebear vs KOS'ing is a neverending theme of spiral down toxicity. Let us not forget corpse-guarding herbivores, vigilante players bullying anyone daring to be a predator. There were many kind and types of "bad faith actors" that could impact the experience of other players, mostly solo-player who make up the majority of the playerbase being those impacted the most. I see why the devs are trying to make changes to accommodate toward parts of the playerbase who just not want constantly have to fear that random groups deciding to make it a short encounter for you. But I fail to see how their approaches are more than just a "measure" to counter "Bad Faith"-Behavior then they are acting themselves on bad faith.
@@SirKolass true. but its not enough sadly. i kinda wish there was some comfort meter or something, where some dinosaurs can mixpack like a stego being comfortable with dryos nearby, but if a rex for example shows up. then maybe the stego gets a panicked status effect, where they randomly 4 call and bite at nothing in agitation, this could also eventually lead to vomit sickness after an hour or two because idk maybe the rex smells bad to the stego.
Evirma- meaning discovery, this whole thing is a test before they either start actually trying in a while or they just go make a new game after getting experience from this one. Mark my words.
I think that a better idea instead of changing the camera is to make senses mechanic, that would act as "radars" for hearing and making creatures out of vision range invisible. That way herbivores would have less hearing and wider vision range, meanwhile carnivores could be the opposite. this way the game would have the realism they are looking for, instead of just lazily changing the player vision.
I’m so pissed bro. I wanted this game since I saw trailers for it, but I didn’t have a PC. After almost 10 years, i grew up, got a job, got a PC, and now the devs are literally intentionally sinking the game. These cameras are a worse gameplay decision than making your dinosaur survival game revolve around fetch quests
Smh I hope Dondi understands one day he made a big mistake in his dicision making. You dont make games for you, you make games for us. Thats the big picture he is missing. I uninstalled and will not be reinstalling.
It's so funny that Dondi thinks he can easily achieve "immersion" and "horror" by just messing with the camera. Both of those take work, game design chops and artistic cohesion, all of which are things the Isle is sorely lacking - hell, fuckers can't even get rid of those stupid hidden ledges that have littered the maps since legacy
Y does every1 hate this change its not like every single player likes how the camera is right now and has zero issues. Deep down we all want this incredible change and definitely not any new playables or features
I really love the emphasis on realism and immersion, I can't wait for dondi to figure out how to transport mosquitos into my room every time I'm playing so I can truly feel the experience of being a sad little beast on an island getting mosquito'd to death!!
You made a good take on the stam changes. Good Idea, actually well done for PvP, but without the other aspects of the game in mind like getting around in the first place it was a very in-cohesive design decision! Would say that nails it. Personally I think the Ideas that the devs have in mind are not necessarily bad, but through conceptualizing to the point of implementing and testing it with a mindset to "disrupt disruptors of fun" to counter "bad faith actors", they made several mistakes. They also tried to go on to make too many changes at the same time, that needed all more attention and time on their own. Migration Zones should have been defined all over the map, for every herbivore species having at least 4 zones with 2 active or something before even getting it tested. But they had a huge map, with buggy zones and spawn systems in the beginning that did not match well with the few established zones for testing, stressing the player more than the server, and in addition to that like plants not giving nutrients or glitching. At the same time (or shortly after) making these stam changes without any thing in mind to make it easier for the low tiers, changing the AI spawn system (that bugged/glitched out) and night vision with an overall darker weather pattern, rendering too many playables blind... that took a very, VERY heavy toll on the whole community. That was a disaster!
Got to love the "ambushing is too hard" lmao. Like people were ambushing EASILY before we had camera lock while eating or before we get these stupid ass new camera changes. Like is Dondi actually so bad at the game he thinks every carnivore player, the majority of players btw, just starve and are continuing to starve ever time they play? Its actually insane to think that you should just be free to kill anything that isn't staring directly at you 24/7. "Guys stego can kill things that want to hunt it" like its not bigger than the entire roster rn except for deino which it can still mindlessly swing on until it kills them because its a slow fatass crocodile. Like its not the fucking camera making stego kill things think for literally any period of time. (Also anyone still in the isle discord at this point doesn't speak or just bootlicks the devs 24/7 its a complete delusion fest.)
Look, this comment is not meant to excuse dondi, but after almost a decade of this exact behaviour, thinking that he cares about what the community wants is just silly.
I mean, not to mention, it's already difficult to see anything while zoomed out as a smaller dino like troodon. Usually what's on my screen is just bushes and grass, rarely get to see myself or much of anything else unless I'm in a field. This new camera system would make the game just entirely unfun. Hopefully he neurons start bumping around and he doesnt go through with this change.
as someone who has had fun in the isle since legacy, if they make these camera changes happen, i don't think i'll play anymore. i was *just* starting to have fun again since they fixed the stam and migration systems :(
The thing I really love is when he is showing and demonstrating how the original camera is too far out on his streams with the Stego and even in the screenshot posted on discord with the raptor and rex, it’s so far fucking zoomed out like 10x the distance you can actually do in game, then argues that it’s too far out. Like wtf? When I’m playing I can’t zoom out far enough to even see the full length of stego never mind have the view dondi has on his streams. Like wtf is he smoking dude fr
It just feels like Dondi is getting sick of this game and instead of announcing that the game is dead, he just keeps adding as much bs as possible to kill it that way
I quit bro they banned everyone on discord who asking questions bout dat topic dgaf i told my friends to delete da game aswell. I might switch to pot ngl
Never thought I would say it but POT is way better than current Isle. With new growth changes the Isle has, POT respects your time(depending on server) and devs add actual dinos to the game instead of grass textures and stupid camera angles. @@YOUNGBOYFAN123
What a nice change! For people who never played the Isle before. And i know Dondi is one of them, because he only plays his silly dinosaur creations on dev test map. Seriously, what the fuck is this? Mf trying to reinvent the wheel.
There have been so many issues piling up for years now regarding balance. The QA team never seems to be on the same page as the general population, and the devs are always on another planet entirely due to playing the game extremely sparingly and with full knowledge of all of its functions (and not only never asking how other player types would approach it but actively spiting other gameplay styles). It has to be the result of poor management from the top down. They have no idea where to even begin looking for issues or how to test them. The hoard branches were the only saving graces we've had for a while.
It’s a shame. Almost the entire game is toxic.. It was so beautiful to me when I first started playing before cerato and the map change… after teno got nerfed I slowed down that had eventually led to a complete halt. Patiently, I’ve been waiting for better news but doesn’t seem like it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dondi gets his ideas by just closing his eyes and throwing darts at a board filled with random ideas, because what sane person would want to see LESS of not just their dinosaur, but also the game in general, just because it's rEaLiStIc? WHO asked for this?
literally only a handful of youtubers manage to keep the game entertaining at this point, by having them play the game for us to give the feeling of the game being "fun" when meanwhile. I play the game and most of the time it's just me walking through night or hiding in a bush cuz my dino tripped and took a lot of fall damage, talk about a top quality dinosaur survival game with "realism" innit
the current one is okay, not great but okay but he is talking about the previous one where you can only run for half a minute and have to sit for 4-5 minutes and starve to death. it didnt work with the size of the map nor fun fro the average player
Oh yes, sure in the 2 minutes of stam they have they wont be able to kill you, skilled players were already able to outplay less skilled players, now it's harder because it takes the bad players more time to waste their stam
Dondi is just giving up on the game and he's like well if the game is going to end let's ruin it for everyone so I don't feel bad about the game dying XD
Dondi has literally jumped in the shit by now and i feel like the other devs jumped with him with these awful changes , why kill your game if you spent that much time on it
Camera changes will suck if they add them. And people complaining about herbivores attacking them is just so fun 😂 Go in the wild and approach an elephant and see if it will attack you...
Honestly glad I quit when 6.5 came out I seen how bad it was and realized it was only gonna get worse I js wish it could go back to when it was like 4.5 or even 5 5.5 and 6
Yeah ambushing isn't hard like at all. You need to plan it pretty good depending on the situation but it's not hard. Have your eyes on your target, get a bush in between, run at them and bite. It's simple enough.
If i remember correctly, Dondi's overall goal with The Isle is to make it as realistic as possible as the dinosaurs. But given the stuff we have now along with this stupid new camera systems, there is difference between making the game realistic and making it enjoyable. And Dondi is defenitely not making it enjoyable.
As someone whos bad at the game i dint want this change it will make it more annoying and restricting. Not scary at all when im just annoyed about the situation rather than scared. Ambushing is easy i know its easy because i am the victim of most ambushes XD ive mostly been playing a scav herra or a scav cera play 😂 like if u wanna increase ppl ambushing stuff find a way to ecorurage solo play. People useualy are not gonna ambush a pack unless theirs spesific circimstances.
Dondi proving he doesnt play his own game by giving us something NO ONE ASKED FOR "the camera angles make it too easy" bro have the time a loose a dino in foliage even if the mf is right if fount of me like what???
Sad.. just sad. I have givien up on this game. If a ton of ppl would quit playing they would stop destroying the game and forced to make it good again.
i feel like the Isle dosent really like PVP... they just want to make things look pretty in path of titans i get so much pvp and even see more dino in that game then 5 hours of the isle ... do people really think dino back then went " yeah T-rex that toxic u attacked me " ...bruuh
