From my own experience after weed use you know your reflexes are impaired and you are very much aware of it. therefore you concentrate more on driving than you usually would. I very much avoid driving while stoned but have experienced that i actually drive much safer while stoned because you are aware of the side effects.

For me personally it makes me feel like I'm second guessing myself. And when you're coming out of a junction onto a main road on London, [with all the agressive driving from all types of commuters] you need quick commitment with no hesitation. It makes me hesitant so I feel more accident prone. So stopped doing it. Before driving.

I actually had a near death experience once due to black ice this past Christmas Eve, I almost slammed into two collided cars ahead of me due to slipping into one another, I swerved around them but keep in mind I was also on a bridge so as I swerved around them I literally almost drove into the railing which could’ve led to me driving all the way off of a bridge, but I ended up pulling some fast and furious shit & somehow drifted my truck perfectly back into my lane & ended up leaving the situation without a scratch, I was in shock & had no doubt that I was going to crash my car at the time, it was a blessing, and at the time I was absolutely fried, I still say that if I wasn’t high at the time I probably wouldn’t be here or if anything I would’ve had really bad injuries from the accident that nearly happened. Big up this guy for volunteering and putting us in a good light. With all the evidence of how beneficial this plant really is vs how little there is to say its bad you would think the UK would change its laws. I think its the fact weed hits everyone differently. But I'm sure a system could be put in place to test each individual if they can drive while high/medicated as some people use this for medication.

I am a longtime daily cannibis user. I cannot drive high. I get paranoid, everything grabs my attention, I have trouble focusing on the road and am likely to cause an accident. I have absolutely no business being behind the wheel of a car. I certainly cannot be the only one who gets this way when they get behind the wheel after smoking weed. Some people can handle driving high and some can't; just as some people can handle driving drunk and some can't. Driving high is one of those things that is dangerous for enough people that it has to be prohibited for all people; and smoking and driving has to be treated the exact same way as drinking and driving.

I do not condone operating vehicles while on mind altering substances, but the first time I rode a motor scooter while high was an amazing experience. My motorcycle helmet made me fee like an astronaut, and everytime I flicked the sun visor down it was like being on a space mission. The night lights were simply stunning, and reaching a red light where the visor would come up again were nice moments to take a break from the intensity of it all.

Absolutely great vid. Cannabis is a very complicated topic because of the variability of how people react to it, and the variety of strains with different effects. Should have done 3 bouts though: 1 control, 1 standard use case (which is what you did), and then the overboard test (where the participant then consumes more than they do typically) to see potential limits. The participant did very well because he was consious of his inebriation and able to work around it, would the same be said if he was just that much higher?

I was a typical boy racer when I was in my late teens and early 20's. Driving while stoned was the only time I'd drive sensibly. I'd be driving down the road and look in my rear view mirror to see a queue of cars behind me, then look at the speedo to see I was doing like 25mph in a 30 zone. I didn't drive slow because I was being overly cautious, I drove slow because it just felt nice.

The thing is that the times where I felt too high too drive you would have to force me to go behind the wheel. I would have a panic attack too, for about 2 minutes (until I forgot I was having a panic attack).

*regular user is they key word* you get a tolerance build up and can get effected differently. you can also learn to be aware of how impaired you are. the main issue would be how aware/awake you are as well as reaction time. differences can be minor but still be present.

A few years back (8-10 years, maybe more) the Herald newspaper ran a story about the French repeating a road safety test after not believing the original results but got the same results, divers were "SAFER" under the influence of marijuana. They found that while there were detrimental influences like slightly reduced reaction times, the driving behaviour of the stoned drivers was GREATLY improved with slower speeds, more attention to what was happening around them and better adherence to driving practises making them overall safer. The study showed in order from worst to best;- Drunk, Drunk and Stoned, Sober with Stoned being the "Safest", not necessarily the best. Later the Herald reported Canada also got the same results after hearing about the French tests.

When high, I drive way more carefully, and I enjoy it way more as it feels to be faster than I really am.

It either gives you a calming effect that helps you drive without anxiety or just not giving two shits about the dents you gained on the way while driving stoned.

To me these tests hardly simulate what it takes to drive a car savely. Like I could most likely do these drunk quite easily, as they mostly test your muscle memory. Safe driving mostly takes awareness though, like checking rear mirrors before each turn and such. That being said, I do believe that generally driving stoned is safer than driving drunk. Being drunk causes overconfidence, which translates to carelessness in the context of driving. Weed on the other hand causes (mild) paranoia, making drivers more afraid of having an accident and thus more careful.
