Invertebrate Paleontology and Paleobotany is a graduate level course in paleontology at Utah State University, which covers the major groups of marine invertebrates, fossil plants, and the important techniques and tools used in the field of paleontology. It covers ichnology, fossil preservation, taphonomy, ontogeny, cladistics, biostratigraphy, paleoecology, extinction and evolutionary rates, and many other tools used by professional paleontologists in the study of fossils and their importance in the field of geology. Course lectures are produced and broadcast from the Uintah Basin Campus in Vernal, Utah. I read all of these pundits that critique your diction. To hell with these shutins five dollars says they never get off their ample posteriors to actually hunt specimens in the field.Love the vids!!!!

32:20 Oh, *that's* what that is! I've always wondered because I sometimes see them on the beach.

mate it's arthropods not anthropods and it's phylum Mollusca not Molluscidae. a lot of your pronunciation of the terminology is poor, and i think you should work on that because it can be very misleading (e.g. "anthro" implies a link with humans which clearly isn't the case with arthropods) and your lectures are otherwise fantastic. much appreciation for uploading them, sorry to be so critical. i think it's great that these are freely available, it's really admirable.

A large faunal of fossil monoplacophorans occurs (associated with stromatolites) in Upper Cambrian strata of the Ozark Uplift of Missouri.

Hello, What is the function of suture lines? And the function of the rostrum in the belemnites.
@BenjaminBurgerScience

In ammonites the suture lines separate each chamber, which grow as the animal grows. The largest and latest chamber contains the animal, which moves into a new larger chamber as it grows, each suture is the attachment line between each chamber. In belemnites the rostrum basic function is in maintaining the right buoyancy as the animal grows, sort of like a diver's weight, keeping the animal at the right level in the water column.

This is a running joke in the class. Since I do more research on Anthropoids then Arthropods I tend to miss pronounce Arthropods, and yes one made it pass the censors. As for Mollusca'dea damn you mouth parts there is no D in Mollusca.

With regards to sutures. I have an ammonite/nautiloid with a clear nautiloid suture. The inside has aragonite filling out the individual septa. I noticed that in one part of the fossil, the shell is deteriorated and you can see the aragonite from the outside. When putting it against the sunlight, you can see what is definitely an ammonitic suture. Any idea what's going on? Can a nautiloid have ammonitic sutures in the middle layer, but a nautiloid suture on the outer layer?

There is no visible siphuncle and it has an evolute shell. The whole fossil is covered in a nacreous layer with nautiloid, or goniatitic suture at best.

Just saying your pronunciation is very poor: Bivalvee, Molluscidae, anthropoda
