An overview of the most common conditions affecting the lungs, explained simply. I talk about airway diseases, such as asthma and COPD, interstitial lung diseases, pleural diseases (effusion, pneumothorax), lung infections and conditions affecting the lung vessels (pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism). It is an overview of the most common conditions encountered and what they mean. Hope it's helpful.

Such in depth explanations, fantastic. If only GPs had the time to explain these conditions. Are there medical treatments for bronchiectatis?

Doctor, I am a career firefighter. I have been out of work for quite a few months dealing with a toxic smoke inhalation injury. I was diagnosed with restrictive airway disease. I am currently compliant with my steroid inhaler and besides time and medication, is there anything else I can do to improve my function to get me back to work? Your videos are fascinating. Thank you very much for what you do.

Is Sarcoidosis the only autoimmune condition which could cause lung fibrosis and liver issues?

actually no, but this requires a more complicated nuanced answer. I may make a video about this soon but likely will post this on my other channel dedicated to interstitial lung diseases (www.youtube.com/@InterstitialLungDisease). That's where I discuss these type of conditions specifically. Thanks for the question

@@DrStefanCristianStanel Thank you. After a year I've been referred to the ILD team at ST James Leeds but still in the initial diagnostic stages but so far my lungs and liver are affected. I'm being told upto now that it doesn't look like Sarcoidosis so I'm desperate for information.
