Aww man, I appreciate this comment a lot. Because while I do use wiki resources, the research has gone much deeper than that and I’m making an effort in going beyond the simple facts. Thank you 🙏🏽
@@TheMentokI just found this video and channel. Just started the video as well but I know exactly what Max is saying. I’ve found videos before where it was literally just reading the Wiki and nothing else. Props.
I have a theory that Bowser’s brother is Morton Sr. And for those wondering why Morton Jr looks so different from him, I’d say he got his appearance from his mom
We also see the princess use a decoy in SMRPG, although this happens so she can sneak out of the castle instead of for preventing another kidnapping. I always found it interesting that Toadstool could dress up a mushroom person to look enough like her that it fooled her guards and attendants, but this is probably just because her servants are not very smart, lol
Would you consider doing a video like this for your favorite Zelda characters? There are so many videos about their lore and in-universe backstories, but I have a hard time finding anything about how Nintendo developed them in the real world.
Some people says that Mario is considered "generic" and a "blank slate" due to being an everyman with a lack of personality, but I'd say that Mario is more of a "jack-of-all-trades" type of character who happened to be designated as an "everyman" whilst fits into any role. He's maybe a plumber, but he can be a carpenter, a doctor, an artist, a chef, a referee, a Smash fighter, racecar driver, and even a Vietnam War veteran. Not to mention that Mario can show more personality while retaining his hero status, like he can be just as comedic as Luigi in _Mario and Luigi,_ or straight up aggressive in _Super Smash Bros._
I think we see Mario's personality shine whenever there's a more intricate story in play like Paper Mario, Mario RPG, and Mario and Luigi. Even though he serves as more of a silent protagonist I enjoy him most in those titles. But I'd argue even in Galaxy and Odyssey, Mario has a more defined personality.
@@TheMentok "I think we see Mario's personality shine" Then you think wrong. Mario never speak in any game. 😒 You don't get to say his "personality shines".
@@MoonwalkerWorshiper Actual existing people can't speak, and thier perosnality shines just fine. You would probably put them into a labor camp though, if political trends permitted.
Looking at this history, I'm happy to see Nintendo trying to establish Donkey Kong as a power type on Mario's side like Knuckles, Protoman a.k.a Bruce Crunch Bandicoot, and a regular like toadette, pauline, nabbit, etc. increase Come to think of it, the yoshi island ds may have been a foreshadowing in a sense.
I would assume they're just going to make the Mario Bros born in Brooklyn New York again in the movie since it makes more sense rather than being brought by a stork since that's an unrealistic origin that makes no sense, the brothers being straight from Brooklyn just makes perfect sense which also makes sense why Chris Pratt is doing a light Brooklyn
16:35 nah man you don't understand, that's not a gun, that is the device that is used to interface with communications devices in dinohattan. Where humanity adopted mice and keyboards, lizardfolk opted for light guns, I guess. I watched this movie way too much as a child
I could see the Koopaling being the children of Bowser's brother; making Bowser/King Koopa their uncle. This way they can all still be related without Nintendo's concern of Bowser having too many children outside of Bowser Jr.
@@erikbihari3625 If your referring to Bowser's Brother; it doesn't have to be contrived or convoluted. There's plenty of children's media that has an Uncle/Aunt be caretaker to said niece/nephew(s) without any mention of the actual parent(s). Like with the original Ducktails from the 80's or Slappy Squirrel with Skippy etc. It doesn't need to be thought about too deeply.
@@erikbihari3625 As I mentioned before he "doesn't need" to be mentioned. But if we "have" to have one he could just be briefly mentioned; say an implied death from some sort of crazy accident and leave it at that.
So funny story on the Development on Super Princess Peach, it turns out that it was being developed at the same time with another game called Densetsu no Stafi 4 for the DS as well, over at a development studio known as TOSE. (You guys may know the series as The Legendary Starfy outside of Japan) They were known to be a ghost developer taking on various Nintendo projects. A few notable once were Kirby's Block Ball for Game Boy Yoshi's Cookie for Gameboy and NES Game and Watch Gallery series for Game Boy and Game Boy Color Kid Icarus - Of Myths and Monsters Starfy 1,2, and 3 for GBA Starfy 4 and 5 for DS and many more! A few MODERN examples I would like to share are The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild Switch port Splatoon 2 Paper Mario - The Origami King for the Switch (They also did Paper Mario Color Splash on the Wii U) WarioWare - Get it Together for the Switch World of Final Fantasy for PS4 (Though they Co-developed with Square Enix) Metal Gear Solid port for Windows and MANY more!
Just want to say your vids are nice and I enjoy your content! I never played any Mario games (even the Mario Cart ones) but I am happy learning about something in regards to how Mario was made.
This is a little unrelated to the main video, but I think you should do some sort of video on Toonami. That was basically my childhood and my biggest introduction to anime.
@@erikbihari3625 check the credits for the SuperCard cartoon. Admittedly he mostly did the extra named characters like DK Jr as opposed to one of the more main characters but still, Megatron among a monstrous amount of other major characters in animation history old and new.
So, the same manual where it says that Toads were turned into bricks also says that it's specifically the bricks that give you power-ups and coins that were originally toads. The items are supposed to be their way of thanking you for finding them.
You know, like many people, i like to play video games (duh), but what i didn't like is to trying to get in to video games plot. Because it is one of the big messes out there that you would break your head and make your brain run away. Games like Devil May Cry, Mario, Sonic The Hedgehog and many others, messed up their plot so bad that, i don't even know what is going on. Thus why, i only care for the story in those games that make it right from start to finish. And others, who has messed up plot, is not important.
Yeah I mainly do it for fun in these videos because I know it will never 100% make sense. But strangely enough there are people who get into debates over a lot of these plot points. Nintendo doesn’t lose sleep over the story most of the time 😂
“Why is he holding his gun?” You gotta rewatch the movie! The gun is how he interfaces with the computer/video phone. I guess it’s a reference to the zap gun? (Or a commentary on how everything in Dinohattan is violent and crazy?)
Yoshi’s Island very much confirms that Luigi is a year younger than Mario like Luigi was with his debut in Mario Bros. Mario probably aged a little while rescuing his brother since he was able to run sometimes with an invincibility star.
@@priestesslucy3299 Because it probably took 1 year for Yoshi and baby Mario to rescue Luigi. Mario also has traits during the game that are those of a 1/2-1 year old such as being able to run and his wailing being much closer to that age.
Here's an interesting topic for a future video:-"why does knuckles sound lot older than his friends"? Because I think it's a huge contributing factor in his reputation being cemented As"knucklehead"!
@@TheReZisTLust. Pre Sonic X knuckles=reasonably close to sonic's age. Post=Clancy Brown, like he's balls dropped to the center of the earth, like he's an adult hanging out with children, like he's old enough to be sonic's dad, ect.
1:19:59 I lived in Japan for a few months recently, and they had one of those in the local arcade. I never played it, but I walked past it at least once every week lol
Mario's voice in The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach is probably best known for his role as Yamcha in the United States, Pegasus Seiya in South America, and Amuro Ray in Japan (although he's played a million roles, so of course his Japanese audience knows him for a lot more; it's just that his portrayal of Amuro is the main thing he's known for, if you only had to pick one). It's just funny to me that you didn't go for any of the obvious characters he played.
idk i’m probably wrong cuz i don’t know all the history and i’m only halfway thru the video but for bowser and his kids, i like to think he doesn’t actually have any. that bowser jr is just him from the past and the other koopalings are his siblings that died in the past and during the events of some of the mario games they eventually got adopted by bowser, explaining why there is no mom for them. what drives this theory of mine is that one mario game where luigi and him go back in time and interact with their baby forms.
I don't know if you'll save this or not, but if you go in the internet archive, there's a surviving and free copy of not just the '90s Mario movie, but the directors cut which has like 40 more minutes of deleted scenes. It is an absolute fever dream, including thea strikingly familiar methid of destruction of the World trade center.
I imagine that the reason behind the koopalings no longer being Bowser's kids may have something to do with the fact that Bowser regularly kidnaps women, which would imply that Bowser is R-wording these women to have his children 😬😬
This game taught me the way to put out fires (especially ones coming at me with malice) is to use a gigantic novelty hammer. Unfortunately it didn't work and my house burned down. Damn you Mario, you lying SOB! lol
I have one of the older NES versions of the US Super Maro Bros release that still referred to "Bowser" as "King Koopa". So those were still floating around by the time the movie was made.
I really wish there were an ongoing comic book based on the Super Mario franchise. It's an epic fantasy adventure story. It's perfect for comics. I would read every issue. I love the Super Mario Bros comics we got but I want more. Zelda could be a great series too
You probably already now this, but Archie Comics (the ones responsible for the first series of Sonic comics) pitched a Mario comic adaptation to Nintendo, but they declined.
Mario could also be "marionette" like a puppet on a string which you control. I'm in charge! controlling Mario. Very smart. By puppet masters. I'm in charge now. I choose Life ❤
57:56 I found this contradiction pretty funny SMRPG: Peach actually fights and decides to join the adventure despite what they tell her Paper Mario: you play as hostage Peach and bake cakes, also she depends on twink How is Paper Mario's Peach more assertive and independent again?
I always liked Mario I think because I was the youngest child, and I felt jealous that my siblings would get to play as player 1 instead of me, so on the rare occasions where I got to set up New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Mario Kart Wii, it felt very satisfying to be able to play as Mario. I think that is why I like Mario more than Luigi.
A:"valiant comics? What a cioncidence, given live action mario's Other, most famous role(or my apophenia, just acting up again)! B:"Someday could you cover how Sonic X ruined knuckles?
Have an idea why people don't have a problem with Peach but some have a problem with Eggman. From Day 1, all games, comics and shows presented Peach/Toadstool as a princess and damsel-y, so learning her name was actually Peach wasn't a big deal because Peach doesn't clash with the vibe all Mario media gave off (if anything, it's an improvement over Toadstool, which even a guy wouldn't want to be called). Sonic media, of course, was famously very different all over the world and a lot of interpretations presented Eggman as a very serious and wicked threat, arguably more unfeeling than the robots he makes and oppresses people with...A characterization that doesn't lend itself to a name like Eggman. Considering Sonic media didn't become unified for a very long time, Deem Bristow's performance as Eggman leaned into "serious and wicked" (albeit, a great performance) and the POWERFUL anti-3D leanings of many Sonic fans at the time, Sonic fans weren't given a good transition to convince them that Eggman was a fitting name or that this "new Robotnik" was better than "the original Robotnik." I actually always loved 3D Sonic and didn't even grow up with SatAM or Archie and I still found going from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog to Sonic Heroes to be such a jarring transition that it took me forever to accept Eggman as the character's name...Now that I have, however, I can't hear anyone's voice for him but Mike Pollock.
5:55 Every Mario Game is Canon. Even ones that seemingly or directly conflict with other games in the Mario series. Because the word "Canon" in a legal sense, means something you hold a copyright to. It also has other meanings, but, in the legal sense that's what it means. If Nintendo were to declare something "non-canon" then they could, potentially forfeit their copyright. This is why it is not a good idea to let the internet teach you what words mean. Just use the word "Lore," saves you an entire syllable, anyway.
