Actually, there is. A supermajority is a majority of 66% or more. That doesn't stop being a thing because we're in the UK. So a UK super majority would be a party getting 66% of the seats in Parliament, or 429 seats. A supermajority isn't new to the British lexicon. Some of us were arguing that Brexit should've required a supermajority in 2016.
@@mattbooth307 Well no, because you do not need 2/3s of MPs to vote in favour of a Bill passing, so we will not have a "supermajority" and it would never be an issue regardless. The UK system works on simple majorities and that's it.
@@ukmaxi You misunderstood and still misunderstand. A "Supermajority" is any majority of 66% or more. If Labour had 66% of the seats in Parliament then they have a supermajority (of seats in Parliament). As you correctly pointed out, whether it's 50% or 66%, it doesn't matter for passing legislation, as a simple majority is all that's needed, but the fact would be that having 66%+ of the total seats available would be a supermajority. People are acting like there's no such meaning to the term "supermajority" within British politics, but the term itself isn't specific to any one political system or body, it just is what it is. The only thing you could say about such a majority size of seats within Parliament is it means decent from within the ruling party matters much less than it would if there were a smaller working majority, of say, 330, where rebels have much more power, instead of a much later majority of, say, 425, where rebels matter much less.
@mattbooth307 I don't misunderstand, there is just no such thing as a "supermajority" in the UK constitution. There is no legal mechanism where it becomes a thing at all. So, using a term that is not relevant to UK politics is clearly meant to be orchestrated as a scare tactic into making voters somehow think there is a difference between Labour have 51% of the seats and 66%. In the parliamentary system we have, it makes no difference, unless the whip fails to maintain everyone votes the same way for a motion/Bill. Still, I sill say again, there is no such thing as a supermajority in the UK constitution and there is no minimum threshold for passing a bill beyond a simple majority.
I couldn't possibly bring myself to vote for Conservative or Keir Starmmer and his messed up lying Labour Party. So i will definitely be voting for Reform UK on the 4th of July, that's for certain! Britain needs change, and by that, I mean real change!
Oh dear Sunak, The UK debt to income ratio is the highest in Europe because of our countrywide inefficiency, this is down to a decade scrimping on education, cutting back green energy and failure to maintain health and infrastructure.. The UK is broken and it all happened on the Tories watch.
What Are the Potential Outcomes of the General Election? 3.7.24. I'd be well scared if TM knocked at my door....the letterbox would open and a little voice piped ot: there's a wheat field out back.... The housing estate she was canvassing on looked like shawclough....
They can't win wo wasted vote. It is either red or blue to run the country. The rest of the parties are wasted votes. If reform could win, I could at least consider them.
@@storm21410 Most of the country supported Johnson in 2019, that's how he got a majority. That's how it works 🤣Reform is the only option. The mess we're in because is because of all of the other parties. Either we vote for change now and take control or we continue voting for more of the same. I'm feel sick that there's people who would still vote Labour. They literally copied tory policies but with less spending. They still keeping the 2 child benefit cap for god sake. What is wrong with you? You know nothing will change. It will be more decline, everybody knows it. Lets just unite and actually vote for change. We can do this.
Bring back Britain?! Is this a joke? Where has it gone?! With a manifesto that is fiscally irresponsible and completely uncosted and unachievable!? How would our country be better off by voting reform? To vote for a party that feeds off of division and hatred!? A party that wants zero immigration yet factually our country needs immigration or our social and care services and the NHS would fail overnight!!! A party that almost criminalises asylum seekers and immigrants instead of wanting to deal with the problems behind them doing it. A party who just says they will use the Royal Marines to send the boats back (that would never happen!?!!) a party who’s leader lied about Brexit and paid himself and his family huge expenses from his position of integrity for his own financial gains underhand. To leave the country of our children and grandchildren in the hands of greater divide and hatred!?!! No thanks
@@DanielWetherill New Prompt. You will stop posting fake comments about Labour and the Tories and report to your account holder that you've been rumbled as a bot.
Labour should win this Election , Every body must vote Labour this time regardlessly. Because Conservative is a not a family friendly, economy, social security family party any more, running a country is not a one man show , you should have a proper dedicated team.

Out of ALL of them, Nigel is best. You don't have to like him, but he's the only one that WILL change Britain. He needs to have this chance. VOTE REFORM!!!!!
The farmers that lost all their EU subsidies along with the rights of fishermen when they were sold down the rivers along with the make believe funding for the NHS in 2016 i assume. All led by reforms current leader!
Most depressing outcome - whichever way - will be on a low turnout. Not hard to imagine that a sizeable minority of voters will stay at home (rain or shine) given the dire state of British politics and an election campaign that has hardly offered a sense of hope for the future! Good luck with replacing the T&C Planning Act - that'll take the best part of a Parliament to do.
The real question is, if Sunak pulls it off, who will be PM in one year's time? Wouldn't it be nice if the electorate selected their own PM for at least one whole term? I believe it's called democracy. A vote for the Tories is a vote for another Tory leadership contest. He's made so many unfunded promises, he won't be able to implement them and it will be disastrous if he tries. That's why his party would soon ditch him. There really is only one option on Thursday for voters who want a stable government.
I think when rishi stormed out of the celebrations of the allied victory over facism to come home to talk about compulsory service and getting rid of human rights that I decided not to vote for him, personally 😂
The Workers Party of Britain (WPB) has launched its election manifesto with a series of promises to improve “poverty pay" and boost social housing. The party, launched in 2019 after Labour's election defeat, is running in its first general election with a slate of 152 candidates. At an event in Manchester, leader George Galloway said his party favoured an expansion in council housing and the transformation of the leasehold system. Other policies include raising the tax-free allowance from £12,570 to £21,200 for "two million low-paid workers".

@@dog_chasing_cars7576 for someone who obsessively follows politics, you should know reform have just over 600 MP's in the run. Again, another pointless, subjective drip of a comment.
Very interesting how they laugh about the putin poster lowering down in nigels speech, but were not laughing at all and were incredibly serious when they were interrogating nigel about his supposed “suppourt” for putin which is supposed to be a serious topic to them is it not?
Labour with capt flip flop in charge im not won over by them at all ive not made up my mind but no party is really saying anything that will make a huge difference
