Then he once drew Miss Wednesday with her hair down and thought she looked like a princess and changed her character on the spot😄 that's why her character is very different after the reveal, in a way that even her being undercover doesn't really explain lol

There are rumors that this fight between Luffy and Zoro was pushed by his editors but i never saw a source for it. I saw many hating on it cause it feels out of character for Luffy to jump to conclusions so fast and get so serious about killing Zoro when he knows him well, but it's still an entertaining fight for me😂

Fun fact, Whiskey Peak is one of the arcs where the influence of Oda's editors can be felt most strongly. It was still at a time where One Piece wasn't nearly as big as it is today,so it's understandable why the editors wanted to maximize interest. They're the ones who asked Oda to have Luffy and Zoro fight, although it seems very unlike their character (still really funny tho). It's also why the Vivi reveal happened at all! oda initially had the idea of introducing a princess character for the purpose of the next arcs,but as the editors wanted him to move on rom Whiskey Peak rather quickly,he had no time to actually introduce her: so he simply resorted to making Miss Wednesday said princess under disguise! A stroke of genius,I'd say.

Whiskey Peak is so good. You get to see Zoro being a solo badass. You find out about Baroque Works and Alabasta. You get to see these terrifying numbered BW agents get just completely steamrolled instantly. You get Zoro vs. Luffy. This arc has it all, and it's just the start of the lead-up to everything going on with Alabasta. The start of the Grand Line is probably my favorite part of all of One Piece. It's just so good.

Looking back on this part from everything I know now about OP, the Boss' plans are so much more elaborate and impactful than I had realized watching it for the first time. There's so much more that his plans actually play into and he has already achieved so much more than you know watching it for the first time. Oda really is a master storyteller.

This is like RPG games where you grind to level up with sidequests and when you finally doing the main quest you already lvl 30.

Luffy vs Zoro was not initially planned by Oda. This was put in story due to request from Editor. They wanted atleast one occurrence where they fight each other, even for a little bit since it was highly requested by fans at that time. So, it might feel out of place.

I am a long time One Piece fan, currently caught up on the anime. And my ditzy ass never pieced together the Friday the 13th thing until you two said it, omg. Thank you.

Ahahaha I love this reaction. I remember seeing Zoro take them all on for the first time. I think I ended up rewatching that episode like 3 times. XD

10:45 NOBODY was prepared for this plot twist. Oda had already written this chapter of the manga, but he was already working in the whole of Alabasta. He had a princess character, but he didn't have a design for her. He chose to make Miss Wednesday into Princess Vivi right then and there, and re-wrote the chapter accordingly. Needless to say, everything from here until the beginning of Alabasta was adapted accordingly to fit this new twist. Episode 65 adapts the last pages of chapter 107, and chapters 108, 109 and 110. That's means that for 2 thirds of this episode, Miss Wednesday and Princess Vivi were still different characters. And on a side note, in the manga she doesn't use perfume as her means to hypnotize people: her outfit doesn't have a wavy pattern, but concentric circles (one on her belly, one on each boob). Her dancing is what hypnotizes people

Your reactions are the best: you laugh, you cry, you speculate - but you don't overanalyze what you see and just enjoy the journey, and I think that's exactly how a first One Piece experience should be! :D And because of this I suggest that you reconsider skipping the filler episodes and watch these, too. Yeah, they don't add any significant things to the storyline. Yeah, sometimes they contain the most annoying or boring characters. And if you were the kind of watchers that want to catch up to the current episodes as fast as possible, I indeed would advise to skip the filler material. But it seems you're here to enjoy the ride, no matter how long it takes. So why don't get the full experience? :) In the same way, as so many of us did 10, 15, 20+ years ago? In a time when there wasn't any streaming services or long internet blogs that analyzed which episodes should be considered canon or not. When One Piece Fans just sat in front of the TV and watch the newest episode - not knowing if it was a filler or not. And we still had so much fun. There were still such great jokes. Such creative islands. Such crazy (and sometimes very loveable) characters. Did their storylines matter in the grand scheme? No. But they were still a part of One Piece and just because they aren't as incredible amazing as most of the cannon storylines, most of the time they're still good and enjoyable. Heck, some of the most popular One Piece memes are based on stuff that happened in the fillers! :D If you still want to skip those episodes, that's perfectly fine. But do it because YOU want it, not because some people in the comments who can't wait to see you cry about the big emotional stuff, demmand it from you. :) That's just my two cents on that topic. It seems that the names of the women at Baroque Works are chosen based on Oda's favorite events in Japan. In other words, the name of the woman with Mr.0 is the name of Oda's most favorite event. (It includes not only existing events but also his ideal events😅)

Whiskey Peak is pretty awkward in its reveal of Ms. Wednesday as Vivi and how Luffy and Zoro seem to be forced to fight by the plot, but the story regains its footing after this stumble. I'm extremely interested to see how the live action show will adapt this since they have hindsight and can adjust things to make more sense. In particular, Vivi will have to be rewritten so we're not wondering about her hunting Laboon and threatening Luffy to stop Zoro.

Princess Vivi is one of my favorite characters in One Piece.
