I think I just figured out why I am having such a hard time learning to transition. Also, if you made merch that said “What the truck?” I would totally buy.
samesamesame! I've been getting so frustrated with my failed attemps to transition, when everybody looks like they are the easiest thing to do.. definitely will try it with looser trucks.
This was a total game changer. I was wondering why I always felt like o was dragging my skates and struggling to bubble or turn or anything. Instantly felt like I could get a 1000% more confident! Thank you
The “counting the threads” thing is actually such a smart tip, i’m always scared to loosen them differently cause i’ve always been adjusting them on my feeling of how much the trucks move. Now i can actuallt make sure they’re the same
I tried to follow this tip and noticed that while one skate was super tight with only 3 threads, the other one was super loose with the same amount of threads showing. I guess not all pieces are the same (?) anyways, I've adjusted them according to my feeling ..but maybe I missed something...
@@erifa3250 definitely an important thing to note, because depending on how your skates were built, the pins might not be the same length. Definitely go based off of feeling if you notice a significant difference. What kind of skates do you have?
@@QueerGirlStraightSkates thank you!! I have Chayas Melrose Elite (love is love version) .. it’s my 3rd week of roller skating and I’m testing how I like my skates adjusted.. I also noticed that at the end of every outdoor session some wheels spin more than the others so I tight them every day :/
I just got my first pair of skates at age 35 and I am so excited to have found a hobby I love so much, your channel has made it fun and easy to learn and try new things! 🛼🌈🤗
Yay! I did too...6 years ago for three years with a three year break after breaking my arm. Now Im 41 starting again with upgrade wheels w/ lights and protective gear, and Moxi Beach Bunnies in the mail. Now all my girlfriends are joining in on the fun. Cant wait to trick out my Moxi's like I never could as a kid!!!🛼🛼🛼
**EDIT** when referring to the nut on the kingpin, I misnamed it the axel nut a couple times in the video For clarity's sake (I think there is some confusion) I am not advocating for overtightening your nut on the kingpin, because that can cause damage to the cushions. Be cautious of both over tightening and over loosening the trucks. Additionally, if you are adjusting trucks that you are already skating on, you will definitely need to adjust them less than I did in the video (like only a quarter or a half turn) since I was adjusting a new skate, they were already tight and needed to be extra loosened. If you want to watch a video explaining/demonstrating loose vs. tight trucks: check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9wnXeVp7wTc.html
So sorry babe, that people are pricks and don’t know how to teach and correct in a helpful, educational way. I’m sorry that there is an elitist mentality of attacking people who make mistakes. I’m proud of you for taking in the knowledge despite how rude some were in order to get the right information out there. You are amazing. Love you 💕
Great explanation. As a skateboarder, I thought it was cool to hearyou can have different tightness levels on the front and back with skates, as long as you keep it symmetrical between the left and right skate. I like to have my back truck on my board a bit tighter than my front, so at higher speeds my weight is more towards the back for stability and when I need to make tighter turns I shift my weight more forward. Trucks are really the unsung hero of skating and skateboarding, lol. Rock on and keep rolling! 👍😎👍
What a wonderful demonstration/explanation of the anatomy of the truck, plate, etc, as well as how to adjust the nut, with the proper tool and how to balance the trucks on the skates, You are awesome and I will be spending more time watching your videos. You have great humor to boot. Keep the videos coming.
Great info...thank you so much. Trying skating again after about 30 years, but I did skate once about 15 years, so I'm feeling very new. All my skate muscles are gone and there are so many things to re-learn and this helps out the gate.
2 things- 1. I just loosened my trucks for the first time and the ease in getting my spins and transitions are so much easier! A little squirrly still but getting my balance figured out! 2. I received a package from moxi yesterday and the thing i was most happy about was the queen girl straight skates sticker that was in there. We are riding in style with that on my helmet. Truly love your channel, just started skating this summer in July and your channel has completely transformed my skating. Love yall!
Nice video! Thanks. Just got back in roller skates yesterday. I’m 54 and I haven’t been on skates for 34 years. I’m going to loose my trucks a little bit .
You always deliver so much inspiration it's unbelievable! I'm a newbie and have no clue about skates, just a hobby we picked up with my 5-year-old and we watch you and love you! We may never become pro skaters but it is so much fun and you are making it even more entertaining! Lots of love to you from us from snowy Latvia 🇱🇻♥️
Thank you! So insane how this is so imperative for performance yet the focus is on practicing. Buy skates. Practice... ... .. . If your equipment isn't right you don't get the best out of your time. THANK YOU!! Newbie SLC UT
Thank you so much. Before clicking this video I was playing around w my y3 tool and after watching the video I realized my trucks were wayyy too loose. That could’ve ended badly especially as a new skater! I love it!
Thank you SO much. I’ve been skating indoors, but just started skating outside! I have never adjusted my trucks since getting my skates and they were all uneven and all over the place! I can’t wait to try them now that you taught me how to adjust them. Thank you SO much!!! 🥳🌈🛼💖⚡️✌🏻
I got my skates used from a friend, your videos are helping me a lot in understanding the parts of the skate and how to the adjust them and make sure they work well for me. I’m excited to try this out, thanks for being so thorough.
I’m feeling your green hair! You look beautiful! My trucks are all pretty loose. I mostly skate outside, sometimes pump track sometimes skatepark, but mainly just around the neighborhood at the moment.
The thread counting tip is brilliant! Unfortunately now I've discovered my new skates have unequally long threads (Chaya brand) so I had to tighten all the way and then loosen by counting turns. Thanks for your videos! So helpful!
thank you, camera lady for suggesting you guys share how you each prefer the looseness of the trucks. I was so scared that the lady in the frame wasn't going to share that
Oh wow, you're so cool and your Videos are perfect for Greenhorns like me. My English is bad, i'm from Germany but for your Videos i will learn English much better! Thank you ❤❤❤ P.S.: you're so beautiful!
10:35 - ish....I always told my friends, if they're loose enough they touch, you'll turn into Superman. NO ONE wants to fly through the air on their skates. Wheels should *almost* always be in contact with the ground, unless you're purposely jumping over something, of course. :) I've seen so many people at the rink loosen theirs up and catch a wheel...that sudden stop sucks! LOL
@9:50 I keep mine that loose. Super wobbly like some top pro skaters. Some of them use super glue to keep the nut on and shave their bushings, or use 1 or no bushings and just change the washers after they look like Venus fly traps like Daewon. I suggest small height wheels. This is all for advanced skaters.
Hi! I love your videos btw, you’re such a pleasure to watch :D I recently had a lil accident that resulted in me losing one of my action nuts for my beach bunnies. I’ve been looking for a replacement but it’s been a lot harder to find than I thought-apparently the ones at my hardware store don’t fit cuz the threading is different. Do you have any advice on how to find a replacement? Thank you! 🖤
Mine are JUST tight enough not to squish the cushions in the back, but my fronts...maybe just a tad more loose. If I 'tripod" my two front wheels with my toe stop while on, there's JUST a little movement, but not much. If that makes sense. LOL I've been working on toe work, they need to be a little tight (so there's no wobble) when going up on all 4 front wheels, but still have enough slack so that you can still crossover without them wanting to go straight.
thanks for the video, yesterday I was like how do I keep track of the turns of my y tool other than counting . I must have tighten and loosen my truck 6 times on each tuck.
I would say get the rainbow riders! I got them as a beginner and they’ve been great. I wear womens size 10 i have a wide foot, I got a skate size 9, they run in mens sizes.
I got the moxi beach bunnies as my first and I'm in love with them. But I hear the rainbow riders are fantastic, and they're also like $60 cheaper lol definitely budget friendly!!
I actually just needed such a video, cause I've just got new skates the first time and I don't know how to adjust anything. I got a question tho: how do I know if all trucks are evenly tightened right now when they just came out of the store?
So I put new cushions in for the first time and it is so hard to get the trucks in the right position to how I liked it before so you know any tricks or is it supposed to feel weird until you break them in?
I’m a new skater, and I’m currently trying to learn to skate backwards. I saw videos that said to do backward bubbles. I was wondering why after 2 bubbles, I got stuck. I mean my skates wouldn’t budge from where they were at all. Know I know why!
I need totally remedial training. What will be the best skates to get or do I look up skates with trucks 🤦🏽♀️.. please help I’m reallly tryn a get alll the way into skating and enjoy it I lovvvve watching people get down and I just want to skate n be freee with as the wind
Hi, hoping you can help me out here. I just got my skates and was in the process of adjusting everything, but I can't use my tri tool on the truck nuts, because they have a rounded top to them and the tool won't fit on them. Any idea how to go about fixing this? Can I replace them with a normal 9/16th nut? I was so excited to get the skates today, and now I may have to order something else and wait. Any help is greatly appreciated.
How to get a pair of rainbow from VN when they literally make them next door (Cambodia). My current skates are bad. The trucks are nailed so tight i can't do anything
Although I adjusted my Beach Bunnies, I can’t do an inside edge. Outside edges are fine but inside edges aren’t working. Does anyone have an idea why this happens?
So I don't even think I loosened them a ton, but when I did and then went skating last week, I noticed scuff marks that line up perfectly with where the boot would touch on the wheel... basically what you said should not happen. I have Candi Girls so idk if there's just not a lot of room?? I really didn't think I loosened them that much not sure what to do
Omg I was wondering why my skates kept going inward, I felt like I was fight them so I could go side to side like normal and I couldn’t but I’m assuming that they are too tight.
@Jennifer Palacio That same thing is happening to one of my skates but it goes outward. Were you able to fix your problem tightening or loosening your trucks?
I'm struggling so much with knowing if they're too tight vs just right. I watched the whole video but don't understand how much the truck should wiggle for just leisure skating.
Im a newbie and i really get this. From watching a few videos, i think its down to personal preference. I did notice a BIG difference when i loosened mine a bit, and im debating loosening them a bit more to test it out and see what i like.
