'hi Elsa&Barron&Camp...I used to be homeless for more than 35+years..to me it was a vacation..i didn't even have a tent until the end of that time..I slept on benches and cardboard carried my food with me and one little blanket packed inside a small backpack..to survive snow..bitter temps..and rain..&extreme heat(lots of ice water lots)..it was pretty easy to survive..I learn so much about myself..so much joy and so much freedom..and learned alot about insects,dogs,birds,eaglesetc.squirrels,bunnies,baby dragonflies,bees,wasps,rats,mice and bobcats....my fav bird was the robins..they were my best friends..not to mention an occasional blue Jay and a few hummingbirds..who brought me joy when I was sad lonely and crying..but all in all everyday was planned from sunup to sun down and through the rain...during my free time I was enrolled in life college for free..' Happy Campers everyone..'💛💚😎

Kimberly Henry, same for me. Scamp life came up on mine this last weekend. I am fascinated with them and their lifestyle. I am almost 78. I have always liked the idea of camping but not the reality. I love my bedroom and bathroom. Don't like to be w/o them esp. at my age. These young'uns are teaching me so many things I never heard of. I'm old but I still like to learn about new stuff and ideas. Thank you Ella and Barron (and Kamp).

@@judybunnell9202 never too old to learn. I have a favorite Great Aunt (and forgive the adjective) but she is the C O O L E S T old lady around. I think you'd probably be in the same Category. I get the whole outside bathroom bit. But still believe I'd want to have a seat sometimes. Simple thing when the weather permits...a wooden frame off the ground with a seat attaches, add a hand trowl to dig a little hole in the ground - put the "seat frame" over the hole and there you go porta potty for camping. You can still "poop in the woods" but why not have a seat while doing it....PATENT PENDING.

Loved your mini talk about where your channel is heading. I have noticed that a lot of channels that start to pick up in subscribers and that get noticed tend to make videos that aren’t true to their original content aka the content that drew so many people in the first place. I think it’s really amazing that you both have a great mindset about what success means to you both and how to keep it steady for what you both want in the future. Love u both’

With growth comes attention, more attention is also not the barometer for success. Fame is not success. Too often fame is perceived as the ultimate form of success, but again, success it is not. What drew me to y'alls channel was, well, y'all. The beautifully filmed and tastefully edited clips of scenery are wonderful, they inspire a sense of ease. Current culture wants us to feed into the anxiety of what we don't have. By sharing your scampy tales you show yourselves living the opposite, living out of gratitude instead of greed. Of quality, not quantity. Keep creating content at a pace that is appropriate for you, we'll be here. Oh- And from me to you both (and kamp lol): a most sincere thank you. I spent all last year with my nose to the grindstone and having your videos to look forward to allowed me to imagine a world outside my service jobs.

Can honestly say, THANK YOU for not posting videos with 'click-bait' pix. I've seen too many RU-vid channels sink to that level, and to be honest, that's when my subscription typically ends as well. No matter the content, seems when the Channel sinks to click-bait level, content suffers as well. I'll continue to watch, to see where the direction goes, typically, not in the direction I'd hoped for. Love your channel, love your content. Thanks to both Elsa and Barron, and of course Kamp!

At 72, I don’t feel that primal “urge” to grow and keep up with all this “electronics” stuff; I’ll just watch. Oh, by the way, you can make a paste using wood ash and water to scrub the little window in your cookstove and it will take all that smoke and soot stain away like magic making it perfectly clear again.

Came back to this video to say that your conversation about growth really resonated with me. I started uploading RU-vid videos because I wanted to remember stuff I did and maybe share some useful tips with others who have similar interests. I don't have time to make it my full time job or even a part time job, and never intended to. Yet, in the past few years, I've gotten so wrapped up in a stupid idea that with RU-vid (and social media) I am "unsuccessful" because it's growing slowly, or the thought that I'm a failure with making videos because I have fewer than 1,000 subscribers, etc. Then your conversation came along and it was exactly what I needed to hear - I didn't start this project to have "growth" (at least in terms of metrics), I started it as a hobby! Thank you for sharing a refreshingly different, and much needed, perspective. By the way - your unique POV is what led me to subscribe.

I could never do that but love to look. In my feed to the right this scamp living kept coming up, that was about 8:00 pm I'm like really I don't want to see that. Well at 8:30 I broke down and started to watch!! It was the video of the snow storm. At 12:30 am I was like I better get to sleep. When I was a kid my dad owned a sawmill and would bring sawdust home to put in a hopper attached to our wood stove. Not sure how it all worked but it was how we heated the stove up, plus we had split wood. Loved that wood stove. Warmed us and our clothes in the morning and laundry dried over top of it on a rack. Remember polishing the cook surface with newspaper.

I am almost 70 years old now, and retired, I did alot of traveling when I was younger, driving all over the united states, massaging people on the way to earn money, we didnt have any of this, computers, cell phones, youtube , social media i would walk up to strangers and start a conversation, and tell them i am traveing across the United states and Canada, I am earning money by massaging,,, I would get massages every day. Now I am just stationary, here in Palm Desert, I love watching these channels, it makes my day,,, along with exercises I follow for seniors on youtube, and healthy recipies, I love watching you guys, no matter what you are doing. Its inspiring.

I see what you guys are talking about and I respect that so so much!!! How, many people just care about the number of subscribers they have and how many they can acquire to compete with the other famous RU-vidrs... where you guys are grateful for your many viewers but your focus isn't about getting as many subscribers as you can, but your focus IS about delivering mindful, real quality content. I appreciate this so much because when I look for motivation, I normally look to youtube. Many people have click bates or unrealistic routines and goals. I for one, am finding myself downgrading in my very blessed life, and just being happy with the present and all of the gifts God has given me instead of all the material items I can acquire. I feel so much more free and healthy in life.

I absolutely love your way of living, the way you 2 take care of your entire Self, mind body & spirit, in addition to taking care of each other, the Scamp and Kamp, it's incredibly inspiring. I've been working towards becoming my Ideal Self for a long time, it's not easy and sometimes I start wondering why I'm even trying to make these changes. Then I watch your videos and when I see real people already living the life I aspire to it really revs me up, energizes my motivation, and helps remind me why this is important. Something to consider, having a compact fire stove in a small space even with sparing use would introduce ash and smoke particles inhaled into your lung similar to a pack of cigarettes each day. Ash and smoke are obviously carcinogens. Many firefighters, BBQ grill masters, etc. suffer emphysema, lung cancer, and are more susceptible to flu and pneumonia. I know there is not a cost-effective way to heat your trailer while boon docking, so I just wanted to leave a note of caution. You may want to visit a pulmonologist (aka lung doctor) as part of your annual health checkups to make sure you have early detection of any potential pulmonary issues. Love your videos, so just wanted to make you aware of the risks.

Barron and Elsa, I wanted to say that I really appreciate your approach towards "RU-vid success". Keeping life simple and uncluttered is absolutely a desired lifestyle many would love to live. Even I would love to live that kind of life, had I not started a family 24 years ago. Their wants, needs and life choices are not necessarily in line with the simple and uncluttered ideas I would choose, so we comprimise and doing fine. In the mean time, I get to feel the feeling and live the life in short bursts when we get out and go camping in nature, and kayak fish in the ocean of the PNW. Much respect to you two (and Kamp) for your choice to live life to the fullest in a small trailer parked in some of natures most picturesque locations. Keep up the good work.
