Fear ...I see now ..not just fear of physical pain, but fear of the fatigue, the depression , the anxiety - all of it. So afraid of depression and anxiety. TMS works for everything right. Great advice re re-engaging in life. That letter- didn't say English is her second language ? - "self pity" may have been a triggering word to English first language people , but I totally get what she means, thats why I got completely out of ALL CFS and Fibro and Chronic Pain groups on fb - reading all abt people's latest symptoms will not help you, and will keep you trapped.

I hear you esp. on Fibro groups. When I first moved to the big city after my divorce, went through much fear, depression and anxiety etc. Some Doc said I had something called Fibromyalgia and handed me gobs of medical articles on it which only made me more fearful as I was already a mess from a number of traumas. I found a group on it and since I was all alone in a big city thought the interaction would help--NOT! All the women talked about was how it would only get worse but the buffet was good each time :) So I stopped going and went to my PCP who told me it was a wastebasket diagnosis and I may never have had it anyway--who knows. Then found out that Doc who told me I had it was in cahoots with a PT and sent alot of business their way--and this was told to me by another Doc I did trust and know. Long story short--stop reading or googling about all the stuff--it does make it worse esp. if you are prone to take it to heart and the fear alarm will go off and ruin your day or evening. I still do at times but am getting better.

I hit a bit of a milestone this morning. Yesterday I didnt take any of my pain meds and by teatime it was quite painful, and o thought oooh maybe the tablets were the only thing helping but this morning I've woken up with very little pain, so I've proved to myself that's not the case cos if it was I'd have been in even more pain I am still giving it too much thought, but I am less afraid and when the pain comes it's no where near as bad

“Once I decided not to be afraid of ____, I became less afraid of anxiety.” Yes- fear is commonly seen to be contagious. But so is confidence, self-reliance, and hope.

Yes, emotions are contagious. Surround yourself with those experiencing the emotions and life you want.

Thank you so much for your hard work. Am trying to cope with the fact that my body has become so weak after yrs of being a couch potato & fear that I will not get my body and muscles back. Anxiety was never a thing for me, but has taken a grab on me... Having said that am still my new volunteer work and upping my house work and 5 mins of exercising after waking up. 💪

The body is surprisingly strong and resilient. Like PB says - one step at a time. Baby steps. The body will get stronger and stronger. And I would encourage you to stop telling yourself the story of how weak your body has become. You may have lost some muscle strength, but it's likely not nearly as bad as you think.

W.B I was actually basically bedbound back 25 years ago, that lasted for seven years! Do you know that my body regained its strength, and I in a short period of time was able to walk 6 miles a day, I got my life back. And this last issue I’ve had for the past couple of years is markedly better, I am back walking on my treadmill, and living life, engaging in life, you can do this. Baby steps at the beginning, and sweet talk to yourself that you are not broken. My very best to you!

Boy howdy did I need this video today! Increased my hike by 10 minutes yesterday and symptoms are colorful. How can just ten minutes do that! Very frustrating. Dan, I seem to remember that you or someone else talked about post exercise soreness being interpreted differently for people with TMS. Would you comment on that or point me to the video. So easy to have a great mindset when symptoms are low! I’m disappointed in myself for having such a over-the-top reaction to the return of the symptoms. As always Dan, your videos are such a good medicine.

Hi Dan, how do you deal with frustration of the symptoms? I’m in the category where I don’t fear them as such, they just frustrate me. I can’t let go of the frustration though…
@nadiagaribaldi3561

Frustration is fear.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Год назад
It still falls in the same category as fear. Make a decision that you won't be frustrated anymore. Self compassion. Self kindness. Calm reassurance. The solution is the same.

Do you think that (idiopathic) peripheral neuropathy could be a mindbody syndrome? I ask because, while it fits the general profile, I can find no record in your or dr Sarno's writings or videos about PN being cured by your/sarno's methods. It affects about 20 million Americans and is considered incurable, whether idiopathic or caused by diabetes or alcoholism. (Mine is idiopathic which suggests it could be a mindbody symptom.)
@kathleenwharton2139

My symptoms are all nervous system problems. Neuropathy..numbness..heaviness..stiffness..pain. Doctors say they cant find anything structurally wrong or on my blood work. I believe mine is totally MindBody..Fear and anxiety. 😊
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Год назад
PN is a common medical label given to mindbody syndrome. It fits perfectly well in the "perceived danger" understanding. Especially idiopathic. You are on the right path. Get started here: www.PainFreeYou.com/start There is zero downside to this approach, only benefit.
