I think what’s best is if vatsim came out with one. And when a real atc isn’t online the ai would control the airspace make it to were you have atc all the time but also real controllers can join at any time and start controlling
That is an awesome idea for that sim to use because half the time you're on an approach and boop there goes the controller.. I think AI will be used more and more once the pioneers of the ATC market get everything figured out
What’s crazy to me is how hard it is to build atc within the sim that is written to respond to your response. Atc is pretty standard terminology in the AIM.
Thats how it is in Simrail multiplayer where you can join as a dispatcher to any place on the map and replace AI and if you quit AI will replace your spot.
I have Say Intentions and Beyond ATC. For GA VFR I highly prefer Say Intentions. I am a student pilot and find it works better for me. What I like is that I don't need a flight plan. If I want to simply go out and fly locally, practice whatever I can do that with SI. It seems more realistic and a better option for me. I can start up, grab the ATIS, request taxi, etc. I can then decide what I want to do during my run-up, hold short and ask tower for closed traffic if I want to practice touch-n-goes, or tell them my departure direction (ex: "northeast departure") If I head out and want VFR flight following I can easily change coms to departure and ask ...it doesn't care and goes with it. I can ask the tower for frequency change before they give it and it'll approve. I know that typically you may request flight following during the initial taxi call, but in the real world that isn't a requirement (just makes your life a little easier on comms after take off). In some XC training I did (real aircraft), I heard another pilot with VFR flight following say he was going to hang around in an area at a lower altitude for scenic flying before continuing to his destination ...Center confirmed it. I tried that in SI and it worked fine ..and seemed very realistic. I haven't heard either SI or BATC ever cancel flight following due to work load. Side note: departure/center doesn't 'have to' do it for VFR ...it depends on their workload and I did once have departure cancel flight following when I asked in real life. I assumed it was due to work load ...I stayed tuned and heard many comms (further south of my area) ...they were very busy 😂 Both BATC and SI have been improving (readbacks need to be correct in recent updates in SI for example). Both may get a little confused occasionally, but overall both are quite good ..I just prefer SI for me as a student. Plus: SI has a taxiway editor that you can update the taxiways at any airport ...in case MSFS doesn't have them correct ...and you can add/update hangars/buildings so for instance I can then request taxi to november hangar and it recognizes that ...and provides the correct taxi instructions. Pretty cool! Take this all with a grain of salt (just my opinion). As a student, I prefer SI based on the type of flying /learning that I'm doing (typically local flying and practice). Hopefully this helps someone who's looking into purchasing any of the products 👍
BeyondATC actually handled your takeoff the correct way compared to the other two. It based the runway on the prevailing winds instead of your flight plan. Also, why did you ask for crossing clearance when they already cleared you to cross the runway in the initial taxi instructions? Were you just trying to test them out to see what they would do?
In my opinion what the ATC should have done was asked me to amend my flight plan for the correct runway or told me that 35 is not in use then I would have been okay with that. But I understand why they did it was because of the winds and even in the navigraph flight plan I showed everybody that 35 was not being used. As far as the clearance for crossing runway 17 I don't think I've ever heard them tell me to hold short of a runway in any of my taxi instructions that I've ever gotten so that's why I always hold short and then ask for a crossing clearance, but yes I understand in their clearance they gave me told me To Cross Runway 17 and did not tell me to hold short.
@2020fsers Better to check than wreck when crossing! 😂 I agree that it would have been better to give you a new runway. What I did like about BATC is thst they kept me from going to the wrong altitude. I have tried to descend to odd alts when it should have been even and they denied me and told me I needed to pick the proper alt for my direction of flight. So that was cool.
So can we take the voice of Say Intentions, the responsiveness of beyond ATC, the ATIS of Beyond ATC or Pilot2ATC, plus VFR capabilities of Pilot2ATC and make a 4th option? 😂
Excellent video. Nice job, this was a great and unbiased comparison of each of the 3 👍. Appreciate the work you put into it. As a IRL airline pilot I have beyondATC only and enjoying it very much so. Was interested in sayintentions but not crazy about some of the odd terminology and clearances the ATC gave and the long pauses. I wouldn’t be so critical of it but at that hefty price, I’d expect much more. BeyondATC has its bugs but the one time fee with pretty good basic voices. It’s simple but gets the job done (mostly). It’s a better choice for me personally. It’s exciting to see where this newer ATC tech goes in the future and it’s great to see there’s competition in it.
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it it took me quite a while a little over 20 hours to do this video for everyone. I'm also excited to see where AI is going to take us as far as ATC applications I'm also looking forward to maybe some other people joining in and creating a more competitive market. I feel once Beyond ATC and say intentions which are pioneering the market right now get everything figured out it will make it much easier for other people to come in.
I never could get Pilot2ATC working correctly for a full flight, and for 60 bucks, that was frustrating. Next I tried SI since it released before BATC, and I have definitely seen noticeable improvement since signing up, but the constant repeating of commands from the ATC is frustrating. BATC has been the best from start to finish for me, however over the last week they had some server issues which caused several CTDs for me in the middle of flying for my virtual airline. They all have their place, and of course need kinks worked out, but I like where the AI market is going for this stuff!
Great video. Tower giving you vectors! Hell NO!!! You just left approach radar. I have BATC & P2ATC... prefer the physiology flexibility BATC gives you. P2ATC is showing its age now and it costs double that of BATC and it's still basic text to speech. I'm ex pilot & ATC BATC gets my vote... and it's only been out 2 weeks!!!
Great video detailing the various (top) ATC payware mods available as we speak. The comparisons built in every step of the filed flightplan are very useful in making a decision for a future purchase. Price wise, concerns still remain. Well done!
I have Sayintensions, BATC, and FSHud. Sayintensions now has a sub program where you can edit taxi ways. BATC basic voices still better than Piloit2Atc. Still a work in progress.
yes i have seen that taxi edit program . I would have thought though since using navigraph in SI & looking at a navigraph chart that it would have been correct .. idk lol .....yes the voices in p2atc are a little weak lol .
To be fair P2ATC is dependent on the quality of whatever TTS voice you give it. That being said, no TTS voice comes close to what BATC puts out. Even in basic mode it's 10 times better than any TTS dependent atc solution.
Nice comparison. Very comprehensive. Here’s a nit. When checking in with a radar controller, you should report your current altitude along with the assigned altitude. It is how the radar controller verifies the altitude data for your flight is correct on their screen. In the real world ATC (radar) will ask you for your current altitude if you fail to report it on checkin, which is an annoying waste of time in a busy sector . The AI ATC apps seem to be dropping the ball on this. Finally, two years ago you did a brief video on FSHud. This autumn they should be releasing v2.0. Will you do a revisit of this product when v2.0 comes out?
Yes I can take a look at the new FS HUD.. I still feel that either of the two AI softwares are good but they are not complete I actually canceled my say intentions just because every time I flew with it there seem to be some sort of problem and I just felt it was easier to not use it I do however still have the Beyond ATC which is great for IFR flights but like you were talking about they may not be complete as of yet
Nice job On this Video. I can’t imagine the total time involved. I have P2A and BATC but prefer Vatsim. Do any of these auto sync if say Vatsim isn’t available? Thank you for your dedication to maki g our Sim experience the best it can be.
BATC doesn't synch with VATSIM in the literal sense, but you can close it when you get to a VATSIM-controlled area, then start it up again when you are clear and it will pick up where it left off. Say Intentions doesn't synch with VATSIM either, but I'm not sure if you can disable/enable it like you can with BATC.
Thanks for the comment... I spent a little over 20 hours making the video with shooting the videos and editing.. None of the applications will sync with that sim but you can pick up on your flight wherever you want I know with Beyond ATC and with say intentions you can just ask for clearance wherever you are and get clearance from that point.
I think as a novice to all this SI even with the price cut is too expensive for what you get, the voice in P2A just annoyed me BA I think that it corrected your takeoff and a 1 time payment would be my option

I hate the voice in the 3rd one. maybe I will go with the 2nd one. You need to change your screen image with your logo and clean up your desktop for the videos. Not that it is bad but a little promotion of your channel would be cool.
SayIntentions is looking at reducing their price soon. They use the chat gpt API, and Open AI recently released a faster and cheaper API which they have started trialing successfully
@@foodflights1408 can't argue with that. It is a very promising premium service with a premium price. I am currently happy to pay the $30/mo price because of the great interactions I've had with the developers in their Discord. I don't think it will ever be a one-time purchase type of service given the underlying technologies the service is built on. Pilot edge with live professional controllers is $20/mo for full coverage of the LA center area, so if SI can get down to that price point and continue to tighten up the logic I believe they will be around for a while
@@197jm I've been following them on Discord as well. They are cool and are very committed to making it a great program for flight simmers. I definitely don't see them as cash grabbers. They are charging what they have to to keep the lights on so they can keep innovating. I currently own BATC, but I'm keeping an eye in SI to see how things progress and how their new pricing model will look.

The video must have taken so much time to put together. Thank you. I have purchased BATC and my complaint with that that you have to have a SID otherwise the program will give you an error. I wish I knew that before purchasing. I fly GA aircraft and fly from smaller airports that do not have SIDs. So it's pretty much useless for me. Thinking about getting SayIntentions. When it comes to the taxi instructions, I have a buddy that flies out of KAVL and he said that it is common to use both sides of the runway to taxi to runway 35.

Just like to thank you Jon for the advice re moving everything from my community folder to allow the recent update.While I did lose some files I was able to get the tbm930 which I had but without gages in the cockpit. Now I can fly the complete tbm930.And the update 15 is awesome.
The 2 I know of is pilot edge and vatsim . I feel pilotedge is much more realistic than vatsim however limited on coverage . Vatsim is also limited but is free.
Based on the winds BATC did the right thing by overriding the departure runway from the flightplan. The one thing is, ib FAA territory BATC does not assign the departure runway at clearance. They claim it's prototypical? If so, how can you preplan your flight, especially on airports with multiple departing runways?
I am sticking with FSHud it is the only one that controls AI traffic. Controls both player and ai miles better than default atc. Might look into BeyondATC once it has ai control.

I know in the real world sometimes when I talk to a controller, there is a delay out of necessity because listening to my awesome voice is not always the controllers one and only task in life. Having that delay every transaction however, feels a little annoying.
The delay that you hear in the video is normal speed generally It takes around 6 seconds for a response time in sayintentions and in the real world your average response time is anywhere between 5 and 8 seconds anyway so that's right where it should be. And again that's all relative on what airport you're at the amount of traffic that is going on you could be waiting much longer to hear back from a controller or they could respond Instantly. Beyond ATC kind of spoils us with the very quick response time Which is not realistic, But for flight simming especially if you don't have a lot of time well then you want as quick of response time as you can have.
@@2020fsers founded it when I was cleaning up my cache I have forgot to reactivate my shader cache size in the NVIDIA control panel, if the shader cache size is disabled ,nvidia will delete the GLcache folder after you reboot your computer a few times.thanks for all the great help you give to so many of us

@Pretender_Gamer yeah for Beyond ATC it's not going to do anything for AI traffic or anyone else using Beyond ATC so yes you could have conflicts if you have multiplayer turned on or are using AI traffic
I have all of them, for me the best atc now is SI (IFR/VFR)I, is still beta but have many updates in the last week. For complete Suite P2ATC is incredible and for a cheap atc that woks sometimes well IFR ,BATC, still in Beta. All have pros and conts. for me the best is SI free interactions with the ATC, but is the more expensive.
Say intentions you can pay monthly at the current price of $29.99 and like I said once the expo comes in June they're going to announce their new pricing you can also pay per year with say intentions which would take the price down as well per month If you were to break it up over 12 months. Beyond ATC and pilot 2 ATC or a one-time purchase unless you're going to use premium voices with Beyond ATC and then you're going to pay per character
