the way you describe "my" people is really nice, but I think you are trying to not say anything bad about Austrians ;) because we also have a lot of bad attitudes. thank you anyways!
I'm in Vienna actually and because of what I do I haven't met a lot of austrians, mostly foreigners like me. Fortunately, of little locals I've met so far all were really nice :). I don't know what that song is about, but we have one called "Lovrinac" which is litteraly the name of a cemetary in Split, where I come from. It is quite good actually mocking the politics and society in Croatia so if it's something like that, I get it :p.
Well, I lived there for 11 yrs & was married to an Austrian for 8 of those. I did not find them to have much family closeness. Friends tended to be more valued than family. That was my experience in Vienna anyway. Maybe its better in the rest of Austria
+Shi Cruisin' it is actually like that, tbh. Friends are more valued than family, but if you for example consider your sister as a friend of yours, not only a family member, there is more family closeness. (it is a bit paradoxical, because if you consider your sister as your friend it's not family closeness but friend closeness (??) ) PS: I'm from Austria
+Shi Cruisin' vienna is very different from the rest of austria. its the only really big city. in the rural areas / smaller towns family is VERY important.
Joost Schenk So? I don't care who watches these. Anyhow, his descriptions are pretty accurate so you'll have a good chance learning more about your ancestry.
In school we have even more holidays because when for example a thursday is free, the friday is too because we don't go to school for just one day :'D They are called 'Zwickeltage' expecially in may there are a lot of them there is no week without at least one free day! Makes school life hard though because you have to fit a lot of exams in just a few days ^^
