Hey everyone! We're back to the series that's been long incoming. I decided to showcase Turkey in the video; while only the West part of Turkey is considered Balkan, the word "Balkan" is actually Turkish and means mountains. I felt it would be more fun to include Turkey in the mix! Also we make a mistake at one instance in the video; editing slip up - this happens as you can probably imagine. We are not AI machines making these videos - please keep that in mind. Alexi S....as an Albanian who grew up in a country where we don't have many stereotypes for neighbours I've always known that all Balkan countries have a much larger Gypsy population than Albania...in greece for example the majority of them have become greeks ....
@@lagjescuni5482 Also I forgot to mention that Greeks do not view Albanians as Gypsies either. Despite some of the rivalries between us I have never heard any Greek refer to Albanians as such. Most (not all) of the participants on this show are usually from the diaspora born and raised in Canada and it shows. They are very disconnected from the actual mindsets of the people still living there

@partizan641 as a greek Canadian I found her embarrassing. Not saying the rest of the people were representative, just that I didn't feel she represented Greeks at all.
I know right... If they were americans I would understand, but seriously, every balkan country has their fair share of gypsies, so acting that ignorant is just plain annoying.
@@Zdamaneta Exactly. It's always funny to me seeing Romanians thinking we're "brothers" of Western Latin countries (Spain, France, Italy) because of our language (which also led to a lot of Romanian artists singing in their language and claiming to be Latinos, absolute cringe💀); when in reality, what they think of us is that we're begging/thieving Gypsies (and add to that prostitutes if you're a woman). Likewise, the ones thinking Serbs or Bulgarians are their "brothers" are also delusional (not as much as the ones I mentioned first, but still). They don't have a "good" image of us like the Portuguese in Spain (and viceversa) where they know they are very similar culturally; or likewise how Norwegians would be seen in Sweden or Denmark. No, our situation is different, because our neighbours either think we're all Roma and live in an absolute shithole country (they probably think we live like the people from Borat) or they claim the "few white European" Romanians (they think they exist) and say that those are just Romanianised Slavs. The only "friends" we have are Moldovans, and even them can be quite something sometimes.
@Marius-Dumitru Catrinoiu look at the second video, you can clearly see how they don't know anything about Romania and how they all answered Romania when asked which country has no mcdonalds and is the poorest in Europe.
I'm glad that the Serbian girl said about the Romanians that are nice people. Yes, they are! I am from eastern Serbia, my home have a view on Romanian side, and we can talk Romanian and understand them. Long time ago there were a lot of Romanians in my area, I grew up with one in the house who helped my grandfather with farming. When we were in crisis, Romanians brought clothes, food and sold them to us, they never tried to beat us with the prices, because we are in crisis, on the contrary! Many people in eastern Serbia have family or roots in Romania. Many women married Serbs and stayed in Serbia. So, Romanians are a hardworking and honorable people, everyone I met has a good soul. People in my area think the same! We still remember some who went further in search of a better life. Maybe people in the rest of Serbia don't know Romanians that much, which is logical because they don't share a border with them. I also want to say that they are very hardworking and honorable people. We lived well with Romanians! 🇷🇸🇷🇴
Most of Serbs except maybe south and parts of western Serbia, know that Romanians are good people and big majority of Serbia and Serbs look at them as friendly nation,we like them
I think they are definitely more than 3% lol literally every big romanian city has at least one gypsy neighborhood/slum and this is coming from a hungarian we also have alot of gypsies. I am too lazy to write a new comment so here: Overall greeks tend to forget they are from the balkans, and connect more with rest of southern europe such us Italy or Spain. Also, on subconcious we believe we are better than the rest of balkans. Especially with the ones we share borders with it's a mutual love-hate situation. For Serbs and Romanians we feel neutral to positive, depending who you ask. Also, I don't understand the lady from North Macedonia. How can you be surprized to feel at home in Albania when your own country is 50% Albanians. That's so so strange. Unless she meant something else? Actually they are wrong, Gypsies have nothing to do with Romania. Roma (Gypsies) originated in the Punjab region of northern India as a nomadic people and entered Europe between the eighth and tenth centuries C.E. They were called "Gypsies" because Europeans mistakenly believed they came from Egypt. People don't pay attention to history.
I literally can't believe there are people who think romania and gypsies are related wtf💀 it's alarming because we STILL need to explain this to some i.gnorants who don't want to learn basic knowledge.💀
Further evidence that Romanians don't have "brothers" and that we're pretty much alone in Europe. It's over when shittier countries than yours (and, likewise, countries with a similar or even higher Roma population) think their country is actually better lol. The funniest thing to me is that the women who were like "Gypsies, Gypsies, c'mon" will probably later go to a Black Lives Matter protest or have "✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿" in their bios. Eastern Europeans (and here, I'd include even us Romanians) will be very vocal about someone being racist or prejudiced against them (bet that if they were called Russians they would get instantly offended lol but hey, Romanians are still "Gypsies" despite having almost nothing in common); but will say nothing or even participate in their own country's ethnic issues (or, really, any social issue their country might face). Funniest thing to me was the N. Macedonian and the Bulgarian chicks, when their country is much more Roma and more Roma influenced than Romania lol. And I'd say something about the Greek chick but meh, she was rude to pretty much everybody so whatever xd
The greek woman does not represent greeks. Everyone in the comments said that in greece we do not call the serbs as gypsies we call them as our brothers. Neither we call albanians as gypsies. All this she made up from her head. Of course we know that gypsies came to the balkans from india that the turks brought them during the turkish occupation and invasion of the balkans. Of course we know balkan nations are not gypsies!!!!

Georgian and Persian? All Balkan lands lived under the Turks for 400-500 years. This includes Georgia and Iran. Turkish culture and food spread to Europe, Asia and Africa. But Romanians are some of the kindest people and I feel like it's sad people are so prejudiced towards them. Romania has parts of its national territory that are found in the historical Balkans. The problem is different! The peoples of the Balkans have a visceral hatred towards the Romanians. Romanian culture had and has a major contribution in affirming the identity of the Aromanians/Vlachs/Makedo-Romanians/Istro-Romanians in the Balkans. And this is very depressing for the Balkan countries that feel "bit on the hat" for the pitiful way of trying to assimilate them. Do not forget that the south of Romania is called Wallachia (land of the Vlachs). The political leaders of the Balkan countries make propaganda and deliberately induce among their own citizens tendentious, biased, and ill-intentioned concepts about the Romanian people as if they were a people of gypsies. For it to be denigrated and disregarded and, thus, to be destroyed, and its vibrant culture to be assimilated by other "deserving countries". Do not forget that the Romanians had major contributions to forming some states in the Balkans. As thanks, they only knew how to demigrate and humiliate the Romanian people. Shame on you!
No one in Bulgaria think, that the romanians are gypsies! We know, that in Romania is a lange group of gypsies, but they are not the romanians. And bulgarian trains are much better than the albanian trains. So this romanian from video is wrong.

Immigrants from these countries have the mindset of '80s and '90s europeans 😂😂😂 Their mindset is so different from the modern european which bombarded with information changes every year, I look at me for example
1) - Romania is NOT a Balkan country 2) - some Balkan people call us as Gypsy, but what they don't know is that THEY look and behave more like Gypsy than us. Never forget that the Gypsies arrived to Romania (first historical document mentions them in Southern Romania in 1385) from the Balkans, Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey. And the Romanian word for Gypsies is "țigan" (read as "tsigahn") as a derivation of the Greek word "Athinganos" (plural : "Athinganoi") = Indo-Greeks (Byzantines). They have been brought to us by the Greek monks as monastery slaves in the 14-15 century. They also arrives from the East as slaves brought by the Tatars. The Gypsies (Hindu) left India around the year 400 AD migrating to the West. Nobody knows for sure the reason they left their original place, India. 3) - the Gypsy myth about Romanians show how ignorant they are, also the Westerners. I met a British man in 1999 saying to me that Romania comes from Roma people. When I told him that Romania comes from Roma (Italy) and Romans, he was like mind blocked (lack of history knowledge). 4) - the truth is that most of the people, no matter their origin, they are really ignorant about their neighbours or other people, they live on myths.

The Sebs say to Romanians in Serbia that they are not Romanians, but Vlachs which acctually is the same). Hangarians also lie about our heritage. All perverse INTERESTS. Talking about the Westerners, they know almost nothing about themselves, so what else could they know about us ? Why do you think all these debate is ONLY about the Romanians in the whole Europe ? The Roman Emperor Trajan wrote a book about his wars in Dacia : "The Commentarii de bellis Dacicis / Comments on the Dacian wars"...the chapters about Dacians are missing..."lost". I find it ironic and hypocritical that these nations, which have a higher percentage of gypsies than Romania, consider Romanians gypsies. The Balkans will never be united, not because of the Americans or as some here claim, but because of ignorance, lack of education and often ill will. Most of the time, mass media and politics create problems and toxic misinformation. 1. In Romania there are between 3%-5% Gypsies. 2. Romania is poor compared to the rich EU countries, but much richer than the Balkan countries. 3. I think that Romania's relationship with Poland is better than with the Balkans, who don't even know each other and treat each other as gypsies. If these words came from the British, who are on the other side of Europe, I would understand, but they come from the Balkans, who have the same problem with this ethnic group. You really don't know that gypsies come from India and that they are just a nomadic minority?!
Its a only a local tale nothing more nothing less. As a Bulgarian i love Romania in fact since i live in Pleven there is a village called Debovo which as a kid my grandparents would speak the aromanian language with neighbors since Vlachs use to live there a long time ago. Bulgarians and Romanians are like brother and sister, i mean Ruse (little vienna) literally has a boat that you can take to the Romania. Dont take everything you see on the internet as truth. To a lot of people the only thing that unites someone and makes them feel at home is finding someone from the balkans in a foreign country. No gypsy who is integrated into the society is looked down at just because he might have a browner skin, people would not even note that as we are generally dark skinned ourselves (compared to western people)
Propably because the romani aka the gypsies used to abduct babies from the balkans and raised as their own. That explains your greek and eastern european dna. Your original dna is indian. Just you had admixture from the balkans when your gypsy ancestors came from india to the balkans as slaves of the turks. Even today gypsies steal european kids in the balkans . There has been the case of small ben is kos in greece propably abducted by gyspies. The fairer the kid the more chance he has to be stolen.
@@codrinpetrescu1555 exactly. His greek and eastern european admixture is because some of his indian aka gypsy ancestors have stolen some balkan kids..
You're gypsy by blood not by culture. If you weren't adopted you'd be robbing people and setting up caravans in people's backyards just like your people do currently. There's a reason they're hated - Luckily for you, you weren't born in that culture so you don't share blame. No sweat; Don't be offended since you're not guilty of their crimes.
Yeah, cause most gypsies in Eastern Europe refuse to integrate or get educated, all they do is steal, beg etc. so of course they don't have a good reputation.
I am Romanian, lately in my city, Bucharest I saw more Ukrainians than gypsy. I think most of gypsy went for the west. But anyhow they are known as a nomadic people.
Romania is not a balkan country. The term "balkan" had been coined by the turks to describe the mountainous area from within the Ottoman empire; please note, the Romanian principalities were never part of it.
@@Marina40935 Actually good part of Romanians and Hungarians are closer genetically than you know, or perhaps even want to know. After all, 1000 years of cohabitation is a millennium. I'm talking about HUNgarians, not the Austro-Germans and Slavs who were magyarised during the centuries.
I can't believe how easily Romanians are called gypsies, this shows me the lack of education and insensitivity of others. While all the Europeans campaign falsely for the lack of discrimination and racism, instead throwing stones at the Gypsies, we Romanians are the ones who have accepted them into the community and tried to integrate them, while everyone is driving them away. First of all, Gypsies are originally from India, they are spread all over the globe. Gypsies are a minority ethnicity in Romania, and it is different from the Romanian ethnicity. Many gypsies have adapted to today's society and are very ok people, but they are still a part that refuses integration, education and with which we also have problems in Romania, not only Europe. Secondly, emphasis has always been placed on what the gypsies in Romania have done negatively in other countries, of course we will not talk about so many Romanians who work honestly abroad, who do good and beautiful things wherever they go. Before you start spouting nonsense, better inform yourself, don't speak from stories and what others say.
1. Just to confirm what has already been mentioned: No-one calls the Serbians gypsies in Greece. 2. No-one calls Albanians gypsies in Greece. 3. In fact, I can’t remember anyone calling any Romanian gypsy in Greece, or associate them in any way. It was much later in my life that I learned that there is a relatively big population of them in Romania. 4. For the girl from North Macedonia who loves Bulgaria. You look very surprised, no-one has told you you are basically the same nation? 5. There isn’t Bulgarian feta or any other feta apart from Greek feta. There are other white cheeses produced in Bulgaria and Turkey, that I am sure they are delicious and I would try them if I wasn’t so obsessed and eating everything with feta. So leave the feta alone please! 6. The Greek girl should have left the country when she was really young. Greece is a 100% balkan country, we are all bad drivers, the food is similar, we avoid paying taxes and then blame the government, dances are similar, we look similar. So at the end when we all hate our neighbors, it’s like we hate ourselves, which we all do as well.
There are too many greeks suffering from self hatred, no lies!! I noticed too many greeks are dealing with this very deep existential question if they are a balkan country and deep inside they would like to be like Spain and italy or even germany( germany that f##@@@ greece too much) i am a serb and i notice this mental issue among many greeks on the internet. They see Balkan people as inferior and react toxic on balkan video 's that promote some simularities between balkan countries. So its a shame to be balkan while its not a shame to be an american or a spanish Who killed too many people on this planet and commit many crimes, but balkan people somehow are perceived as a big threat to greek people. GREEKS cant breath because of balkan people? Whats the explanation of this hatred towards the Balkans? Balkan people even visit greece and spend money there in summer, still you despise us, and i know it. So whats the psychological explanation of all this, consuming too much massmedia? Who feeds your fear and insecurities? Is it self hatred? Tell me.🎉

Albanians are White as snow And Hitler admired the Aryan race, thank you that there were Arvanitas from Morea And Cameria who spread the race to the Greeks a little
Well as a Serb, i hope for you that she is just talking nonsense, otherwise ,.... but i already have some impression that greeks actually despise serbs and balkan people. WHAT we actually do to you and your country? Are serbs invading Greece? Are serbs killing greeks? They even visit your country in summer. But you hate us and the Western massmedia hates us, its in a way simular to what jews had to encounter during WW 2 , how to manipulate the mind of the people and its disgusting. If there are countries that talk badly about greece these are netherlands and germany, and these you hold in high Esteem, i think actually ...maybe serbia indeed should do something terrible, it doesnt matter what we do or dont do everything we do , only breathing is an obstacle to all people
Especially the "Serbs and Albanians are gypsies". The "Greece is not Balkan" comment is inaccurate but understandable for the island people whose culture is very different. But Macedonia and Thrace at least are identical to the rest of the Balkans.
Romanian people aren't Gypsies! This young American's of Balkans roots are such a pathetic, rude and not well informed or what! Bravo for our Serbian girl for telling the truth! All Romaians i know are veryy good hardworking people , very welcoming, have our Balkan warm heart and soul. Very beautiful , justiful and inteligent! Amazing people and real Serbian friends! Greeks and Turks "lived together" for 400 years says the turk. Except he's conveniently omitting the fact that it wasn't by choice, and it wasn't at all equal.
@@generalinformation1707 it's better to say 1400+ since the battle of manzikert only affected the Greeks of Eastern Anatolia, and Balkan Greeks have always been more than Anatolian ones.
As a Greek i just wanna say that there was never any rumor or whatsoever that Serbians are gypsies and to stay away from them . Greeks consider Serbians to be our brothers and we welcome them as that. The woman speaking maybe has Greek roots but she is definately not Greek. Her accent is native American/UK/Canada etc.
This setup is like a United Colors of Benetton ad with all its lightheartedness, their are all basically Americans living within the stereotypes they have of each of their respective countries. I want to name this video "United Countries of Benetton".
First of all, stop being ignorant! Romania is part of Balkan as much as it is part of Scandinavia. The area of Balkan Mountains is about 11.500 square km, none of them part of Romania, but Carpathian Mountains has 190.000 square km, most of them part of Romania. In Balkans as in Romania there is lot of turkish influences, I can't name something 100% original Balkan. There is no Balkan culture, there is no Balkan civilisation, everything is coming from outside, mostly from Turkey and Greece if we talk about Balkan. If we talk about Romania there is lot of historical connections with other cultures and nations such as hungarians, russian, germans. Romania has different architecture than what we meet in Balkans. Romania has parts of the country which has nothing in common with Balkans (food, arhitecture, culture, history, mix of languages, and so on).
Cool Vid. Guys I'm from Turkey/Bursa whic is located central west in Anatolia and trust me we have 100% balkan mentality. Well our lands might be far away from balkans but our minds closer than you think. :) PS: My favoruite sport is drinking beer till the collapse in the streets. :) Love all
We only have 3% of population gypsie, Serbia have 8-14% gypsie. I dont why Romania get so much shit for it when a nation like Serbia clearly has Way more
Bc that is how western media wanted to picture Romania. We Serbs have other descriptions as war criminals, little Russians, drinkers, wild people. So I think it is already enough for us to have those beautiful things said about us in the media. Spain has the largest percent of Gypsie community and to be fear there is nothing wrong with being Gypsie. And in some way, we have other bigger ethnic majorities as Albanians, Hungarians, Slovakians, Slovenians, even Romanians and then Gypsies.
First it is not true and Romania and Bulgaria have more than Serbia, in Serbia they make up about 2% to 3%, that percentage 8-14% are Hungarians lol. I don't know what you have against Serbia, it's okay to be angry about stereotypes about Romanians, but telling lies is not, and as said in the above comment, we also have a lot of stereotypes about us, but of a different kind.
@@amarillorose7810 It is because Romania is bigger than all balkan countries together so we have more gypsies than them even though Romania has only 3% gypsy population.
@@Denis-ed3cm Spain and some other Western European countries have much more of them than Romania, so I don't know why this stereotype is imposed on Romania in the west, probably because of the similarity of the name regardless of the different origin of the name.

In fairness on the Macedonia thing… the northern most province of Greece is called Macedonia and the country is right next door. It’s just an easy mistake to make. Probably why it’s North Macedonia now…
About Bulgarian trains... I'm Bulgarian and it's true. I used to defend our railway system (БДЖ), but last summer I travelled in bed bugs infested wagon and brought them home. Safe to say many sleepless nights followed. I'm not traveling ever again with those trains! That is until next summer of course!
@@giorgiociaravolol1998 yes, but not cheaper. Why would I want to waste money, when with that cheaper train I am going to the seaside to have a blast and waste money there

@@giorgiociaravolol1998that's the case across the entire Balkan. We don't maintain or invest in our railroads so it's dangerous to ride on them at speeds they were originally designed for. So instead of fixing them, we slow down the speed that the train is allowed to achieve so if there is an incident there won't be a complete tragedy. The more the railroad and trains deteriorate, the slower the train transport will be.
As a Romanian, believe me, I lost respect for that Romanian. Bulgarian trains aren't all that horrible; they're only slower than Romanian trains, but their safety and resistance are comparable, and I adore Bulgaria. Funny, that all those countries have a bigger percentage of gypsies than Romania, but keep calling Romanians gypsies, Where is this obsession with the gypsies coming from? Plus Romania is not the poorest country in Europe, it never was. Is not the richest or rich but: Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, etc. are always been less prosperous/rich than Romania. Usually when you are asked things like that is nice to be polite. I'm sure if I'm asked I could say nice things which are also stereotypes for those countries. Romania never had vampires in their folklore, is just an invention of a confused writer who got ill advice from a Hungarian, is incredible how many people do not distinct reality from fiction.
Actually I don't mind at all that they were that nasty. It's the perfect window to their own ignorance as well as their countrymen's. The fact that people from Bulgaria, North Macedonia or Bosnia could think of Romania as some sort of shithole country is beyond amusing. This is literally what people from their country think. While they're still incredibly poor, Romania is doing excellent advance and every year is closer to its EU pals; but hey we're still thieving poor Gypsies and Romania is the smuggle capital of Europe.
So...everything about Romania is now gypsy now? The second best standard of living by most metrics (after Greece) out of all the countries here, by some even the best...so I guess that makes you (except for Greece) worse than a gypsy country...
Noone says such things in greece about the serbs or the albanians. Everyone knows in greece that albanians are not gyspies and everyone knows in greece that serbs are our brothers. Idk what is the role she is playing and why she said what she said maybe to spark anymosity in the comments

Also it may be interesting to Croatian lady to see all those blonde or tanned skinned people live together and call themselves Turk but i can assure you we Bulgarians, Serbs and Greeks are pretty diverse too. Balkans are so underrated while has great potential to become well known place by advertise her geographical, historical and cultural wealth, and you guys doing some good stuff here. You guys seem to disconnect from your Balkan diasppra and became more ''American'' than to Balkan, so i suggest to you to be prepare more and search for some unique, hilarious humor we have in Balkans. Also you guys should give everyone equal times to speak, for example Albanian and Romanian dudes talked rarely. And also you can include a Serbian since Serbia also has a huge Balkan mindset.
Google "Thrace" and you can see that Turkey has a part of Balkan lands too. Also the "population exchange" between Greece and Turkey had effects and there are many people from Bulgaria who are Turkish citizens for years. Also there are millions of "Muhacir"s (estimated 10 million Ottoman Muslim citizens, and their descendants born after the onset of the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire who emigrated to East Thrace and Anatolia from the late 18th century until the end of the 20th century, mainly to escape ongoing persecution in their homelands). Especially recently there are more than 10 million Syrians have immigratred to Turkey, many people from Africa and Ukraine with the recent events. So I do think Turkey is now like a mini USA in terms of diversity. Can't compare with the Bulgaria or any other Southern european country.
