All good advice the only thing ill say for the millionth time YOU DONT NEED TO SPEND $1000.00 for a quality 100ah lifepo4 battery. Dakota has really screwed many people thinking thats the case. There are many quality 100ah options in the $350 to $500 range. Don't be lazy educate and research.

Be careful with those bargain brand batteries. LiTime for example claims they have grade A cells when they really use B grade. So you’re really rolling the dice on how long your battery will last as well as how many amp hours you’re really getting.

Great Advice. I had to figure it out on my own started with a 50 amp LIFe good for 1hr hard 2 hours at 50%. Then I bought a 2nd 50A life and split time one Battery for XI3 the other to chart plotter then swapped prior to running 1st battery dead. After watching your battery box video, I bought a 3rd matching 50 A Life battery 2 in parallel 3rd to fishfinder and acc's if necessary I can swap to 3rd bat for reserve.

A 60AH will run a bow mount trolling motor full throttle for 4hrs. Cut back 20% and you may lose .25mph but you're good for 10hrs. Amped Outdoors is built for saltwater w hardware SS, aluminum... (only 4 cells and they are incased in a metal frame).

Look for a group size 27-29 deepcycle. This is what I had available to me in the past on my VibeSeaghost using a 90's minnkota 36lb thrust and furthest I went was around 4.6 miles round trip at 50% thrust. Still had some voltage to spare but was cutting it close to draining the battery too far. I had a small wheelchair battery 30ah 25lbs tucked away just incase. Beware them deepcycles be heavy.
@wyatt1153
@wyatt1153 Год назад
A Minkota 30 only draws 10-12 amps on the first two settings. 30 amps will easily get you a couple hours of fishing.

@markweatherall7437
@markweatherall7437 Год назад
with regards to the amp draw you mentioned early on in the video. Does that depend on what gear selection? My minn kota is a maximum current amp draw of 64A so I presume that's on gear selection 5 which is maximum gear. My question is what current amp draw would it be on gear selection 1 ?
@OneObjective
@OneObjective Год назад
Yes it’s all on what speed you run. The higher speed will pull more amps. If you run speed one you will run all day no problem. If you run wide open you might run an hour or 1.5 hours depending on battery size

Is it okay to run a trolling motor full speed with a lithium battery? I heard it wasn't.
@OneObjective
@OneObjective Год назад
The reason some people say that is because they are running to small of a battery. If you have a 55 lb on a single 50 amp. It’s not good to do it. It burns up the motor board on the battery. Because it’s not made to handle the amp draw. But if you run a 100 amp on a 55 lb you will be fine. It’s built to handle the amp draw.

Question for you, if i did 4x50amp 12v batteries would that be equivalent to 2x100amp 12v batts or not because of the different size bms systems?

I disagree on buying 80 to 100 amp for a kayak without any numbers, that is telling people nothing but that bigger is always better. I made a video explaining amp draw and speed that way people can decide how far and how fast they wanna go ill leave a link here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qQi7VZ7BExE.html

We have tested smaller battery’s but also have talked with other battery company’s. They highly recommend people running bigger battery with 55amps plus. Or you can buy two smaller battery’s and run them in parallel. But by the time you do that you could have bought one big battery. The issue is the mother board. People are roasting them due to high amp draw. We also recommend a bigger battery so you can run at higher speeds or have extra if you may need it.
@rodrigoelgu
@rodrigoelgu 2 года назад
@@OneObjective if you use a fish finder 12, 16, 32 amps battery for a trolling motor yes you are going to fry the board but most trolling motor batteries start at 50 amps continously. Now if it was for a bass boat I'd say go for 100 because of the beefier board but for most kayaks I don't think is a big deal considering a good speed of about 4 miles and you are drawing 20 amps so you have planty of amps left. I know because I have one and i have done all these tests. And yes manufactures want you to spend the most possible of course, but like I said the video i made explains everything and people should decide what range and speed they would like to go because on a kayak you can't really go faster than 4.5 mph with a trolling motor.
@OneObjective
@OneObjective 2 года назад
I will say this. We have roasted two 60 amp battery’s. And we only ran a the motor on it. It’s fine if people want to run what every size they can afford. But the warranty on the big names battery’s aren’t as good as they seam if you burn up two battery’s in short period of time. Been there done that one.

@Rybay Do your research bro, you can get 100ah for less than $900 like the PowerQueen and Ampere Time. If you are that scared of your battery catching on fire, then nut up and get a Dakota. I'll just keep fishing with my 150ah hypery I paid 500 bucks for. Only weighs 37lbs, too. I also have a renogy bluetooth 100ah for $500 and a 100ah powerqueen I got for $350. All used for hours going miles across lakes. You don't need $900 for a 100ah LIFEPO4.
