Actually we Mumbaikars can relate these things to a great extend with the Ganeshotsav in Mumbai. Same type of Shopping and preparations before Ganeshotsav, same number of days (10days) the same lengthy lines for Bappa's darshan 😂😂😂And the emotional good bye on Bappa's visarjan day😢and the same line"Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar ya" (Come Fast next year) .
As a bengali person, I always imagined that the closest alternative phenomenon that we bengalis could have to durga puja, would be ganeshutsav. Never been to Mumbai during ganeshutsav( because I would rather be in bengal during that time ). But I've seen videos and movies portraying ganeshutsav and it just looked so similar! Glad something like this exists.

Yes bro I'm also a Bengali and at 2:00 I just remembered about Jaago Tumi Jaago and Bajlo Tomar Aalor Benu. They are magical songs. Without them, Durga Puja is totally incomplete. And Birendru Krishna Bhadra on Aakash Bani just steals the show. I guess Bengalis can relate with me.
I spent one year in Assam during puja. Well as compared to other states, the celebrations are quite high but in no comparison to west bengal's puja. Puja here is at a different level, out of the world.
