Another quote from Hoyer... "He's learning a lot from Kyle, completely buys in on what Kyle is teaching him and see's football Kyle's way. They have that connection and understanding. Also, Brock's main motivation is to make the right decision, whereas other quarterbacks desire is to be a star and try force things to happen their way"

JT O’Sullivan said yesterday that Purdy is the best NFL QB at throwing guys open via anticipation/leading them. Just like with a QBs full field reading/processing ability, people can’t see that via live TV and need to watch the All 22 film to even notice. So they say dumb comments like “Shanahan made those guys wide open”. The same people ignorantly fall in love with the flashy on live TV mega athlete who has trouble getting to the third read and throws with zero anticipation, but has a canon. Kyle has never had a QB with this level of accuracy, read/full field processing ability, timing, anticipation/leading them open and decision making (Belichick said during the Manning Cast the most important QB trait is quick decision making). That’s why Kyle’s passing scheme is totally different now than with Jimmy G.

I just believe Kyle feels his schemes have so many targets to choose from that if the quarterback understands the plays enough, there will always be an open receiver. And I believe Brock purdy is one of the few that is capable of finding open receivers where Brian hoyer could not
@rlandingham
@rlandingham 11 дней назад
Seems like a QB wanting to be able to change plays is like a receiver who wishes to run a different route than the play called. In the scheme, plays aren’t single events-they are steps in a plan. Each play has different options in case one isn’t there, with the final option is QB creativity or to throw the ball out of bounds.

Anyone who says Brock doesn't adlib and Jimmy did hasn't watch the actual games. They both did it about the same, the difference is that Jimmy would abandon some plays too early and ad lib his way into an interception while missing some wide open receiver that if he had patience he could've hit for a big gain while Brock ad libs when those things aren't there because he processes the field so much faster. Jimmy was good in this system. He won a lot of games. After he got hurt he wasn't as mobile and that definitely affected him and was probably the reason he didn't let plays develop as much. Purdy is just better. Also, all good QBs are system QBs, including Peyton (even if the system was Peyton makes calls and adjustments for everything). All good QBs have talent around them. All good QBs are game managers. The reason those terms are used as negatives isn't about those actual terms but about the extra that some QBs don't have. Things like Lamar running around avoiding sacks for a long time until someone gets open and then throwing a bomb down field are those extras but without managing the game, without a good system, a QB like Lamar can win MVPs but he's not going to a Super Bowl.

I have been saying this for a little while now Kyle trusts the plays way more than he trust the players. I would like for him to give Brock a little more opportunity to call at the l.o.s i feel like Brock has proved himself and i know he is capable of it. Jimmy did NOT prove he had the same capability when things fell apart. I love Kyle but in order for us to win a SB you HAVE to trust your QB more than anything

Two Phrases I hate the most because they dont mean S*** - System QB: Every QB plays in a System, Mahomes plays in a college shotgun offense, cant play a game under center, thats his system= ALL QBS ARE SYSTEM QBs!!! - Game Manager: What QB Doesnt get paid to manage the game=All QBs are game managers You can say; Elite vs Average Good vs Bad Exciting vs Boring. but System QB is a bullS*** term use to discredit a QB, and so is Game manager

I think Kyle feels better about Brock ad-libbing than he did about Jimmy. Obvoously there are times when it's necessary. And Brock does it better than Jimmy did. Weve all seen games where Kyle has mentioned Brock doing just that and is complementary. Andy Reid said Mahomes ad-libbing drove him nuts at first, but eventually he got used to it. So he's not too different from Kyle

@@musa7606I mean that’s literally what happened. A lot of people forget they didn’t have Jimmy G when they passed on drafting Mahomes, they acquired him during the next season. At that time their starting QB was Brian Hoyer. They had the #2 overall pick, Kyle admitted he didn’t scout any QBs, they traded down to #3 and took Soloman Thomas.
@musa7606
@musa7606 12 дней назад
@@erikdayne5429Yes, that's what happened. What does that mean though? Simply stating what happened doesn't mean the same thing as what you might think it does when stating it. Taking a D line guy is never a bad option. That Thomas wasn't a show stopper was the problem. Bust or bad scouting? I don't know, because we have also hit on a lot of other draft guys. Regardless, we also took Bosa later and that was the right pick. Mahomes was not a can't miss. Otherwise he would have gone number one. Should Shanahan have taken Mahomes? Sure, in retrospect. But we needed more than just a QB. We needed D line, and we didn't have a Hill to complement Mahomes (who no doubt helped with his development). Mahomes walked into a fully fleshed out team, on the Niners he would have been on a team that had just gone 2-14. The Niners also passed on Deshaun Watson. Looked bad for a while. How's that looking now? The Niners also passed on Rodgers once upon a time. In retrospect, it looks silly, but the truth is Alex Smith was a good QB who came into a bad situation. Rodgers needed lots of development. There is no guarantee he would have gotten that in SF.

Brock ad-libs a LOT, he’s just generally smart either way how and when he does it. Edit: as far as changing the play at the line, that’s different. I think Kyle’s comment when asked was basically ‘yes, you can change the play if you really want to, but I don’t know why anyone would.’ lol. But once the play is underway, he goes off script imo more often than Jimmy did, he’s just much better at it.
