Caity Lotz shares her experience working on Madmen as her first gig out of acting school and what lessons she learned along the way.

Caity Lotz (Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow) joins us this week and shares her evolution from working as a dancer for Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga to gaining the respect of her cast and crew as a director on Legends. Later in the show Caity sheds light on her opinion of Legends of Tomorrow ending and how the working conditions, writing, and morale on the show improved with time. We also talk about her first gig in Mad Men, her emotional drive to continue acting, and her desire to distance herself from the Hollywood scene.

As someone looking to get into acting and filmmaking this is genuinely the best podcast to listen to. So much useful insight and honesty

Been a fan since seeing her on MM-a very tough role she knocked out of the park. The fact that she is also an action badass irl on top of being a great dramatic actress still blows me away

Wow, she definitely killed her first role. I distinctly remember her part.

I like the surprise thing she mentioned. As a novelist (don't look me up, I'm, Polish) I sometimes have the same experience: I write a scene and suddenly something great happens, a new or unexpected idea comes to me, and the scene ends up being way better than I ever planned. This does not happen often, but when it does: you know why you love your job!

Man I'd love to see Caity as the next season's villain on Flight Attendant or on something HBOy

Yes but as an editor it makes it really difficult if all of the takes are different for match action. So that's why the script supervisor is trying to get the same movement across all of the takes. She was great in Mad Men. It's really interesting to see her character grow. I like how her character was struggling financially and then she was doing well and Don was struggling with alcohol.

I love Caity Lotz as much as she loves acting. Her best job is The Machine.

Always thought she looked a bit like Melissa George. Not identical but could easily pass as relatives.

These actors seem so ignorant of the field of employment they are striving for. In reality it's a toxic culture I wouldn't touch even if i had gloves on. There is a reason this show always has mental health advertising

She got into acting my to get even more attention…look at me!!!! Look at me!!!! Look at how special I am!!! All the rest is garbage…saying you appreciate the “craft” lol being unpredictable….just lies to cover your own narcissism

Such an odd comment. Hating on her doesn't make her a narcissist. Hating on actors doesn't make them attention Karen's. Such an odd comment.

@@cyrenedomogalla5127 it is completely true…all actors are complete narcissists who crave attention and think they are better than everyone else…this is a fact
