Super underrated channel. Your style of presenting is great. Reminds me of Rudy over at Canon. He can sell anything. Keep it up. You'll have 100k subs in no time. I shoot with a Canon C70 and Canon 18-80 lens. 100% of my outdoor channel was shot with that combo. I'm thinking of grabbing the C400 around the beginning of next year.

Switching from Sony EX3 to FX9 definitely solved a lot of problems! And the recently added FX3 is a great addition. Could I have done the same work with most any camera, sure, but I had my reasons to go the way I did and now several years later glad I did. As folks start rumoring about the next great system I have to remind myself that my cameras won't suddenly start shooting lower quality than they always have!

Am I crazy for wanting to sell my 1 year old FX9 in order to get a Canon C400? The C400 does everything my FX9 does and more. All this while being smaller, lighter, and way less power hungry.

@@sa.t.2507 it's easy to get sucked in by that, the real question is would those missing features really make a difference in your workflow.

@@PatMcAbery hmm good question. Well having AF in 60p would be awesome. Also being able to actually use the entire sensor would be nice also since FX9 only does up to 30p in FF. Since I use slow mo quite a bit I’m always in 5K crop mode. Also the weight and size really gets in the way. And lastly, the FX9 is really power hungry. Not a fan of that at all. Can I live with everything I mentioned? Yes, but it would be nice not to also…

Hi! Am I crazy for wanting to sell my 1 year old FX9 in order to get a Canon C400? The C400 does everything my FX9 does and more. All this while being smaller, lighter, and way less power hungry. I never use my FX9 for live work where all the SDI ports might come in handy. Mainly I do corporate videos and commercials. My main issue with the FX9 is that I must crop in on the sensor to get slowmo, and once I do that I lose the amazing autofocus. With that said the camera loses its main point by being full frame for me. This also means that I have to sell my two lenses, Sigma 24-70 2.8 and Sigma 35mm 1.2 Art. But what can you do. I reached out to several places to see how much I could get for my FX9 if I traded it in for a C400, and 3 out of 5 places didn’t want it at all. They said that FX9 sales have dropped to almost zero. That makes me sad but also realizing that if I am ever to trade it in it should perhaps be now before the price gets crazy low. Am I totally out of my mind? FX9 delivers a great image but at quite some compromises. The C400 is (IMO) almost a Burano in many ways but way cheaper.

Insightful - fighting GAS is tough. Been fighting it for years! I had to tutor younger news shooters back in the Betacam days. I always preached Practice, Practice, Practice. Knowing how to compose a shot, light an interview, shoot a nice sequence, and telling a visual story makes you a better shooter - not a shiny new camera. That's what I keep telling myself when all the new cameras are announced. That said, a new piece of gear can sometimes help get the stagnated creative juices flowing.

I always hear from videographers that agencies want to hire camera ops who shoot with Sony cameras. This always makes me question my choice to shoot with Panasonic (full frame) bodies. It would be nice to get hired by agencies, too.

I honestly don’t think it’s going to come down to the camera. If it does, you can rent for that job.
