The "Touradas" bull thing i mostly a Terceira thing, is a touchy subject even between islands. Not long ago, someone representing (goverment) the cultural departement, before going to the goverment, made some remarks against them, and to help the case, he was from São Miguel... That didnt help (people from the Azores knows what i am talking about) and it wasnt well recieved in Terceira... For example, the bulls are in the Azores chrest of arms and were even part in a battle in Terceira against invadors. Like i said, a cultural and touchy subject. You should visit Pico and São Miguel (the biggest islands in the Azores). Lovely video.
My father inlaw did the running of the bulls back in the day and lost a shoe... I don't believe there were ropes on the bulls then. I believe tha be a little more fair. Hopefully you your feeling better
😂😂😂 the bulls are alright... is actully they pay back time ! dont worry that... those bulls are better treated then alot of animals world wide by the way its very atlantis way id living !
I moved to Terceira in 1960 at the age of 13. The next 3 years were some of the best of my life. We lived in Praia da Vitoria. This video brought back so many great memories
Loved the video ! As a Portuguese myself, I hate that we still have traditions with the bulls, in recent years there has been a lot of discussions about the bulls tradition, same people (like me) are against it but there's still a lot of people that defend it (mostly older men). It's sad!
Your story telling and editing skills have been growing so much!!!! I thought your videos were great a year ago, good lord you're killing it!! And that bull run thing has always weirded me out. Why the heck do people want to do that 😂 glad to see you're still out exploring!!!!
Nice! It's interesting to think about how seasons change when it was so bright outside at 8pm and now where it just gets darker and darker here in Sweden!
Glad you like the video! 🤩 The half sleeve tattoo was done by an artist called Nini who lived in Hanoi, Vietnam. When I was living there I got some work done by her 😊 She’s very talented but I know she’s since closed her shop and opened a new one somewhere in Australia 😃
Nice little video. I live part time in São Jorge and part time in Southern California. Yes the first time I saw the Bull Run I was amazed as well. Especially since my only reference before that was from when I lived in Spain and witnessed not only the running of the bulls but also bull fights. The people in São Jorge are extremely nice as well and things are very affordable.
That’s amazing! Super cool to have those two options! I remember think Sao Jorge had a Jurassic park type of vibe with its nature, but you’d know better! :)
Hey Kim! It’s more common to get your van to Madeira 🇵🇹 or the Canary Islands 🇪🇸 The Azores is extremely far and I’ve not heard of anyone shipping it there 😃 hope it helps
Fantastic video as always Natasha! The things you see and do... And you had to show food..? You really had to go there didn't ya? Oh I love food and trying new things and tastes. Damn it! Now I'm hungry! and it's 1.30 a.m right now...(can't sleep, hurt my back.) Be safe Björn
Hehe a little midnight snack perhaps?! I’m sure you’d visit that island and never leave 😂 the food is so good!! I’m sorry to hear you hurt your back :( I hope it’s nothing serious… it’s my turn to say it - be safe Björn you need that back! Big hugs!!
@@NatashaBergen Thank you Natasha. I hope it is just a stretched back but it could be a bad disc. Hurts like a "mother in law".Yeah you really do need your back painfree. Have you ever noticed how many times you drop something on the floor? You do when your back is bad. I'm like a cat.I have it in my hand(paw) and then just pffuff down on the floor like an idiot...AAAAARRGHH!!! I'll live... Thank you for caring Can't wait for your next adventure
I've now watched many videos from all different vloggers...there wasn't one video where the skies aren't overcast. What was your experience with the weather/climate over there?
Hey George! It’s definitely a pack for all weather kind of place. I was there during what’s supposed to be the best weather in July and I experienced everything except for snow. Be ready for wind, rain, sunshine and depending when you go, and if you climb Mount Pico, very low temperatures.
