What can the 11 inch coil really do? Testing the Minelab 11 inch coil to the max on the Equinox 800

Coil comparison for the next couple of weeks. This week I run the Minelab Equinox 800 with the 11 inch coil, flat stick to see what is really down in the ground. Do I really need a 15 inch coil? The next couple of weeks will tell. This is my comparison for my particular situation.

Hi Andrew and Viv - I enjoyed watching you find lots of lovely relics and seeing and hearing those black cockatoos 👍

Digging at depth in your turf sounds like a special kind of torture to me. 😂. That 1794 token - wow!! Nice find. Still going to get a 15" coil one day, would've snapped up a secondhand ML one this morning if I hadn't just spent that money on that other thing I'm about to do. heh. Happy hunting mate.

That token is cool. Now the oldest European coin I have found. Beats a cartwheel by 3 years. Good luck with the other thing 😉👍

Great hunt mate. Awesome finds, pretty sure the half penny was the 1799 KGIII type. Know that spot, plenty of activity during the rush.

@@TheCoffeeBushKid think I found exact one yesterdy also crusty as all hell.. the tiny head had me stumped for a while, but with some help from this awesome detecting community, was able to safely say it was a KG 3 alfpenny 👍👍👍

Thanks for watching Roelf. The thistle buckle was a ripper. Great little casting. I have a couple of kangaroo buckles but they also made emu ones of which I wouldn’t mind finding. That ship token is now the oldest European coin I have found cos it beats a cartwheel by 3 years. Glad you enjoyed coming along for the ride. Stay safe mate. Regards Andrew 🦘🦘👍

G’day Andrew, another ripper video. Always looking forward to the next one. Top finds there too! Love the buckle centre, I’ve only ever found an outer with the wreath on it. I’ve switched over to running the six inch coil a lot lately after watching your videos and bugger me if I haven’t had a bit of good luck. Three silvers in an hour in ground I’ve hit fairly hard in the past. So thanks fella. Cheers, Rob

No wuckers Rob. I absolutely love the 6”. The only thing you have to do is readjust your thinking to the fact you aren’t going to cover 200acres with it. Once you do that the targets just seem to jump out the ground. After these videos I’m running with my sensitivity at about 24 where it would normally be about 20/21. The other thing is that the 6” is a lot easier on the back. We old blokes have to last the distance. Regards Andrew 😁

The Coffee Bush Kid yes mate I changed my way of thinking pretty quick, those silvers where only in a forty yard stretch. Heading out for a swing in Yarra Glen with a mate tomorrow. Wish us luck. Cheers, Rob

Nice one Andrew! You found a token honey hole by the looks of it. I agree on the new coilteks. I don't see a need for one either. Most stuff I dig isn't super deep. Would be nice to go detecting. If only this bloody monsoon rain we are copping would bugger off. Hopefully some good errosion from this rain. Next week its time to go over old ground.

Yes to the honey hole. Seems you are copping a fare bit up there. We saw the houses floating down the river on the new last night. You would be gutted if it was yours. Good luck when you do go out. Regards Andrew 👍

Hello Andrew, I must say I love watching your videos mate, Very entertaining and awesome finds, love those tokens mate your smashing those, In my opinion the 11 inch coil is just right for the machine.. having the machine set at full capacity it does what you want.. I've dug down 15 + inches for a rivet at a park... at my age digging that deep is about all I can handle... take care mate ATB GL&HH Jim 👍🍻🇦🇺

Thanks Jim. Glad you are enjoying the clips. Sometimes you can find a token every time you go out. Sometimes you won’t find on for weeks. Seem to be finding a few at the moment though. There was a lot of hype about the new coiltec coils but I don’t need a 15””. Proved that to myself now. Thanks for watching mate. Stay safe. Regards Andrew 👍

Also the deeper you detect, the more you have to dig. It can be painful using the 15" Minelab coil where I live on the Murray. Yeah it goes deep but on a high power setting it's usually deeper than I can be bothered digging. I use it for low target areas on a mid power setting to cover as much ground as I can as quickly as possible.

That is a good point Dale. I have an 18” coil for my 5000. Mixed emotions the day I get a 1 ounce nugget a foot and a half down in central Victoria soil. ( We call it soil here but our terminology might be a bit off😂). Regards Andrew

That's an amazing old site and you've dug some great old coins and tokens from there. The first coin you said was William IV looks like it might be a George III Half Penny to me- usually dated 1806. Will be interesting to see how you get on with the Coiltek 10x 5 coil. A 10x 5 and a 15" Coiltek Coil arrived in the mail for me this last week.Tested them out briefly at home today and really looking forward to taking them out for a real hunt soon to see what they can do. Cheers.
@TheCoffeeBushKid
@TheCoffeeBushKid 3 года назад
Funny you should say that about George. I looked at it in the final watch before it went live and thought mmm that could be an 1806 G3. Think you are right. I wanted to do this test on known ground to see if there was anything deeper that everyone had missed. The 6d was the best find at depth. Good luck with your new coils. Hope they go well for you. Regards Andrew 😊

I dug a George III halfpenny here in Pennsylvania, USA last summer so I got it out and looked at it. It is an 1806. What is the reason that date is more common?
@TheCoffeeBushKid
@TheCoffeeBushKid 3 года назад
roelf I believe that they missed some years of minting. On allcoinvalue.com it shows they minted 1806-07-08 and none after that. Sometimes you will be lucky to see the date but most of the time they are so worn it is just an educated guess. Hope this helped. Regards Andrew 🦘🦘
@DetectingOz
@DetectingOz 3 года назад
@@TheCoffeeBushKid I've dug a few KG III Half Pennies over the years. Like you say they are very worn ,but the 1806 date is just readable on a couple of them. The only other date KG III Half Penny I've dug is 1799.Cheers.
