I'm so glad I found your page. I have chronic pain and acute flares in almost every joint of my body from time to time. I loved gardening when I was younger and did it all the time. My pain isn't new but I didn't have as much to do when I was barely 20 as I do now in my 30s. Hearing you talk about pacing and not needing to get everything done in a day is really helpful because I know sometimes just watering can be so taxing for me and I always feel bad when I didn't get to the tasks that are more about looks than just keeping the plants alive and feeding my family. I don't think I'll be doing a garden this spring because we are probably moving in June but I might do a fall garden next year.

Glad you're here :) watering is so energy draining for me - not sure if you've seen but I do have a video on my self watering systems to help make that easier: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-woTIsX9HhVo.html Hope your move goes smoothly and results in an even better space for your accessible garden

I managed to set up one raised bed this season. Whoop-tee-do! I made it self-watering. With 90 degree temperatures and dry climate, I needed to refill the reservoir only once a week. That's a big time saving. I used the type of self-watering system shown by Albo Pepper. See "Self-watering SIP Sub-irrigated Raised Bed Construction (How to Build)".

Have you tried plastic moth decoys? I've not tried them yet, but I've heard they're territorial, and the moths will avoid areas with too many. I used a white milk jug to cut out mine.

So you pull your large tomatoes when there green? Or are they green tomato variety? My 3 tomatillos were crazy too!

I pulled the green ones because it’s close to frost and I wanted to replant anyways, but they normally would’ve turned red - it’s just too cold for them to ripen now so I’ll put them in a paper bag with some bananas and anything that doesn’t ripen will turn into fried green tomatoes 🍅

Una pregunta....por qué las camas suspendidas tienen diferentes fondos?. Unos rectos y otros en triángulo. Muchas gracias.

no real reason, they're just different styles/brands :)

My area has frost warnings basically all week. Do you pick every thing before frost or leave it?
@thecottagepeach
@thecottagepeach 11 дней назад
I pick all the peppers tomatoes eggplants and summer type crops before frost, but anything that can stand a bit of cold like leeks, kale, swiss chard, lettuce, spinach etc I'll leave in

I was going to ask about any differences with your beds not being connected to the ground. Is it easier that way or just what you happened to get?
@thecottagepeach
@thecottagepeach 11 дней назад
I chose them because it’s easier on my back with my arthritis, I can control soil quality and there’s less pests to deal with. Just a personal preference though!
