As an American I don't know much about the Canadian provinces individual cultures. Today I am very interested to learn about what Canadians think about each other's provinces, whether that be positive or negative. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

As a french Canadian, they were mild about Quebec haha! We are the black sheep of canada. We often have our own sets of laws and customs, for the better or worst. I think we Quebecois likes to entertain the fact that we know better, but frankly this is just a persona, don't take that as us being narcissist. We are often the butt of jokes, so we have to compensate and act like we don't care :D. I love all my canadians people, even if we can be mean to eachothers. @KarstenJohansson Wrong. Newfoundland Music is filled with gems. Some of the best folk ballads and waltzes ever written. I've the bye caught on in mainland Canada because it is a quirky little song that can be grasped onto and is passive aggressive in its delivery by outsiders. No one in Newfoundland or anyone who has a genuine understanding of the body of Newfoundland Music gives a rats bottom about that particular song, and it's comical to hear outsiders act like they are getting some sort of glimpse Into Newfoundland by it.

There's a brilliant joke about Montreal and Toronto that I heard from a Just For Laughs festival comedian back in the 90's: "Imagine two brothers. One drinks, smokes, boozes it up at bars and strip joints, goes to parties, and generally enjoys life. The other's an accountant." (audience (we're in Mtl, remember) ROARS with laughter. Comedian leans into the mic) "I can see I don't have to tell you which is which." Another, by Lorne Elliott, whilst discussing snow days, and how everyone gets an unexpected day off and the kids all love it (talking about the 70's, when snow days used to be a real thing that really could shut down business). "But there was always that one kid in class, 'Tsk, I _wanted_ to go to school today!' These children apparently all grew up and moved to Toronto." You could also try to Bowser and Blue song "Toronto!" too. Recall these are Montreal comedians usually talking to an Anglo-Quebecois audience. They're HILARIOUS.

Quebec is a wonderful place to visit. It’s beautiful but I’ve had very mixed amounts of friendliness. It does have GREAT cultural festivals and amazing food. What Quebec does right, it really does right. I go there as often as possible. Newfoundland is the friendliest place in Canada. If your car breaks down there, you will be invited into any home I think. Lol. Their accents are rich and can be hard to understand. Never call them newfies unless you are from Newfoundland. They work hard and party harder and are, generally speaking, a hardy and proud people. I’ve never had a bad time there even I. The winter when there is 10 feet of snow I’m from Nova Scotia. We are also known for the same thing gas as Newfoundland but they do everything a bit better. lol. It’s warmer and we also know for fishing. Pei is a beautiful little place to visit. It looks like the shire from lord of the rings. Just like old of the rings it’s filled with hairy foot hobbits. Jk. If I could vacation there every year I would. New Brunswick is the annoying bit that separates Nova Scotia from the rest of Canada. It takes forever to drive though the damn place burning you take time to stop and visit, it’s a beautiful place and there are a lot of wonderful things to do and see. Ontario gets a bad wrap but it’s huge, wonderful and dynamic. If you live in Toronto, it’s the centre of the universe. Or so those bastards will try and make you believe anyway. lol. It’s also an amazing place to eat. It’s so diverse, that you can get any kind of food you can think of. The praries are the praries and I haven’t spend a lot of time in any of the provinces that long. I’ve enjoyed myself every time I went but was happy to leave. Alberta has some stunning places to visit. Breathtaking mountains and ski resorts and our king, Wayne Gretzky played hockey there. BC is BC and if it weren’t for the cost of living, it’s the only other place in Canada I’d love to live

I'm a Newfoundlander and on the way home from "town" (St. John's) to where I grew up the car broke down. We had my sister's newborn baby on board to go visit our parents. The guy who owned "the" garage in the town was on a two hour lunch break (code for fishing for a few hours). We got invited in to have supper with the family next door to the garage. They tracked down fishing dude and cajoled him into giving us the part and labour for almost free (we tipped more than it would have cost) We left with a stroller that had only been used twice, 2 bags full of newborn clothes (some with the tags still on them), and a small cooler with sandwiches in it in case we broke down again. We only had 15 minutes more to go, lmao.

""I'se The B'y" (also I's The Bye) is a traditional Newfoundland folk song/ballad. If you want to see how they transport things to the territories during winter they have a show called Ice Road Trucks. It's mind blowing! Also they have a TV show called Highway Thru Hell about 2 different main highways in BC. They both go through the mountains and can be really dangerous at times. Growing up in BC, most people have driven them and have their own stories they could tell. Recently, the river that runs right beside it flooded it and ripped a good section out. It interrupted food and good traveling to Alberta. And cut off the rest of BC from Vancouver and the lower mainland. Check out it!!

Actually, I have been to Alberta & was surprised that the reputation of the PEOPLE was true. You may not see it as you live there, but if you travel to ANY other part of this country & pay attention to the behaviour, loudness, & (I hate to say it but self-centeredness) etc. of the people you will notice the difference. This does not mean that this reputation is accurate for ALL the people in Alberta. It is just rather a noticeable thing from many Albertans if you travel there for the first time or pay attention to them in the media or in social comment sections etc. I think it is because of history - all of the "wild west" Americans - & those wanting to escape American justice started to see the Rockies in front of them & thought it better to head north - into Canada. Also, by keeping such close ties to Texas & other similar States with the WHOLE rodeo circuit (& possibly with the oil) these ties then end up going beyond there & becoming more entrenched than your ties with (ANY) other parts of Canada except possibly Saskatchewan, & your views become/remain more in that American nature rather than in the Canadian one. It's just true, as was first mentioned in the video for a reason. I am not just saying this. The whole country is. It is a shame that Alberta didn't focus more on ties & connections with Canada vs. U.S. because you ARE part of our family - & we love you anyways. 🥰 None of us are perfect - (although our Maritimers - I've never been to Newfoundland - are pretty close. Actually maybe you lot ARE perfect. 😘)

I must protest! 😛 We TRULY aren't that bad!!! Come to Toronto & get to know us. We are confident of our place in this world, sure, but that doesn't mean that we think we are above anybody else! (The ONLY "Torontonians" I have found with this attitude usually AREN'T from Toronto but moved here later. When they have pulled the "I am a Torontonian now so I am part of the "better" people, Torontonians usually make it QUITE clear to them in looks & staring silence that we DON'T have that attitude about ourselves here & they had better lose the attitude if they want to get along with people here.) We WILL also tell others off who are "acting up" in certain other provinces (ahem), because we ARE confident that THEY are no better than us (or anybody else in this country). We WILL also say that "we do ....in Canada" because we do it in Toronto. But when we say something like this, it is NOT because we think that because we do it that all other Canadians must get in line & do the same or their different ways don't matter. Instead, we will say that we do things a certain way (for example) & think that WE ARE NO BETTER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THIS COUNTRY & IN FACT ARE JUST THE SAME - just an ORDINARY/TYPICAL CANADIAN, so other Canadians must also be doing things this way as we are no different or better! (It's true!) We don't think we are worse! But we also (generally, of course), don't think that we are better - at most, we think/know we are better in some ways but so is EACH place in our great, fantastic country. I hope that I have been able to explain us a bit & the rest of you won't continue to have wrong impressions of us & hate us. 😔 ❤ Love to my fellow Canadians (& Tyler of course) & Happy Holidays!

There were a couple of nasty ones ❤️ Some of the best ones: "Ontario makes Québec look good with finances/money." "If Québec wanted to separate, they should have let the rest of Canada vote." "There was a contest on the radio, the third place prize was a week for 2 in Winnipeg. The 2nd place is a weekend for 2 in Winnnipeg and the 1st place is 1 night in Winnipeg." Ontario: "Toronto is an hour away from Toronto." When they got to the maritimes: "Why are we still doing this? All the important provinces have been roasted." "Saskatchewan, easier to draw than spell." "If you go across Canada, you can cross the province of Saskatchewan on Neutral."

Lol But anyway, as someone from NB, I can give my opinions, though note that I worked at a roadside assistance call center for 10 years, so a lot of my opinions are based on that. Territories: I really hope your car doesn't break down, it'll take forever to get someone out to you. But also I visited NWT once and your waterfalls are GORGEOUS. BC: Lots of mountains, and I hope the planet chills out on the natural disasters for you guys. Seriously, you need a break. Also, I've heard that you throw the best Pride parades. Alberta: Cowboys, farmlands, and poor cell reception. Looooong highways. You're also all really chill when I tell you that it'll take 3 days to get a jump start in the winter. Saskatchewan: ....I don't think I've ever gotten a call from you guys the entire 10 years I did roadside, so I'm assuming you all just know someone with a tow truck. Also, loved Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie. Seriously, you guys make great sitcoms. Manitoba: ....Your dispatchers are jerks. I don't know about the rest of you. Ontario: Like the people in the video said, you all seem to think that you're the only part of Canada. Like you're perfectly okay people, otherwise, but you've gotta expand your horizons. Quebec: The handful of you who recognize my NB accent are sweethearts, and I love you. Actually, most Québécois people outside of Montreal are really nice. Montrealers... You all need to chill. Newfoundland: You're all perfect and I love you. No notes. Literally the nicest and most welcoming people you'll ever meet. Prince Edward Island: 2nd most welcoming people, you're also all very lovely. Also you guys are really on the ball for eco friendly lifestyles and recycling, we could all learn from you. Nova Scotia: You're pretty cool. Great scenic coastlines, and Halifax is the closest the Maritimes have to a big city. You do tend to steal all the attention though. New-Brunswick: Home sweet home. Everyone forgets we exist, which isn't helped by the fact that anyone remotely cool eventually moves to either Alberta or Nova Scotia. We're a very pretty province though, and have some great concert sites.

Maybe with global warming the winters are not that harsh anymore, I remember going down the streets and there is just this wall of white, and God in the mornings mom is like get out there and shovel the snow so I can get out to work, drag my sleepy ass out of bed to do some hard shoveling almost every morning, and mom was to cheep to get a snow blower.

Someone said Manitoba is mostly prairie, but actually it's mostly Canadian Shield. Lots of amazing lakes, falls, beaches, hiking. Also, every ethnicity under the sun lives here which is celebrated for 2 weeks every summer in Winnipeg.

Yes, and we are not completely flat either, we have downhill and cross country skiing . There is also zip lining in the Pembina Valley. Gorgeous seeing it all from above. I guess these are just going to remain our Manitoba secrets. As my Dad used to say if we didn’t like something “That’s ok, all the more for the rest of us”. 😀.

@Carrie-so3ro
@Carrie-so3ro 10 месяцев назад
They actually forgot about a # provinces! - Manitoba, Saskatchewan, PEI, Nova Scotia & New Brunswick as well I think - AND they lumped our territories all into 1 which saddens me - (& I AM born & raised & still live in Toronto & took notice. We get a bad rap that in most ways is not true & in a # of other cases does actually have good reasons that you don't realize [ although not what another commentator here is saying nor in her tone!] I DO however admit that SOME of what was said here about us in the video can be true.) It would be nice if they did an updated version of this that actually included all of our country - although I think that they probably only did the provinces (& territories) where there was anything negative to say & found the nice stuff too boring. That means a lot of great things about you there in Manitoba - & everywhere else that was left out.

Thank you so much from Manitoba. I visited Toronto about 14 years ago and I'd love to come again. You guys have a great city with lots of fun things to do. I looooooooved the Casa Loma. As in from Manitoba, i just had to try out one of your rail cars( i can't quite remember what they're called but they move along wires), plus i rode in a subway for the first time ever whist in Toronto. I know not a huge attraction, but i just wanted to ride one As we only have buses and taxis in most ( where there's public transportation) i now live in a smaller city where we don't even have anything but taxis. I enjoyed seeing the CN tower, but was too scared to go up lol. @Carrie-so3ro . Toronto is an exciting and fun city tat makes where I was raised look so small( Winnipeg). Thanks again for acknowledging us Manitobans.

I've lived in Toronto most of my life, but the rest of my family are on the east coast (NS and NFLD). Toronto is decent for finding employment. There are a ton of great restaurants, which I can't afford to go to. Same for concerts. Not all Torontonians are stuck up a-holes, but there certainly are enough here for that impression to be completely understandable. Basically, don't try to talk to people in downtown Toronto on the street, unless they are obvious tourists. Tourists are usually friendly. Most people from here will ignore you or just be straight up rude. I also hate driving here. In any given 30 minute period driving here, there will be at least 10 aggressive idiots on the road you will want to yell at. If it wasn't for my job, I would have left long ago. To the rest of Canada, please don't hate all of us in Toronto. Some of us would love to escape, but that can be difficult to do. But please make fun of Toronto sports teams as much as you like. I couldn't possibly care less about who wins any sporting event, except maybe F1 racing where I will cheer for anyone not named Max Verstappen. He's dangerously aggressive, and generally an a-hole. It's amazing he's not from Toronto. ;)

As an Ontarian, I feel like most of the criticism of my province is directed at Toronto in particular, and frankly I think most Ontarians are down to throw some egg on Toronto as well. As for BC, over the years the stereotype I'm picked up about that province is that British Columbians are, I guess soft compared to the rest of Canada, on account of living on the west coast and having those warm Pacific currents leading to mild winters. At least the ones living in the coastal areas.

I live in Alberta, We've got it all. Besides the two great cities and whole lot of wholesome heartland. There's the Rockies to the West, Grasslands with lakes east and south, and of course the Woodland lakes of the North. It's a great and beautiful province.

I've lived in Edmonton and Calgary... You can try to claim the Rockies because you have a thin sliver of mountains... But please acknowledge that Alberta is inferior compared to BC. Born and raised in Vancouver and have spent a lot of time outside of bc, but I have to agree Vancouverites are notorious for being cliquie and unfriendly and unapproachable. I wouldn't say rude per se but at the very least if you almost bump into them they will say sorry like every Canadian. 😂But don't expect anyone to randomly strike up a conversation with you because they're insular. Except you'll me I'll talk with anyone and often get a weird look. During the 2010 olympics, it was funny, the locals came out of their shell and talked to anyone and everyone it was the weirdest thing even on a bus. The moment all the tourists and athletes left we went back to our "unfriendly" selves 😂 Montreal never wants or needs to be in New York because it has its own level of fabulous but with respect to Toronto and New York I moved to Toronto at 21 in the late 80s, spent a year there, got so sick of the attitude and how fabulous they were (and how much they wanted to be New York but weren't) that I ended up moving to the real thing and spent four years in NYC. A Toronto guyI knew from there who made fun of my lack of sophistication about getting into night clubs or something, saw me in the village of New York City and was all like "oh my God isn't it great here don't you love it oh it's so fabulous blah blah blah ..." As he sort of embarrassed himself in the big city himself and I swear to God it was good karma lol😂 And yup Alberta: America light: guns, oil, rednecks, cowboys, cattle, beef, freedom, guns, Freedom convoys, low taxes, don't take our money, don't take our wealth, no taxes, guns, don't touch our guns or money, F you feds, Freedom! Texas light! Beef! For such a huge, almost ungovernable country, but the one thing that unites us is we all hate Toronto 😂

If you want all the Newfoundland stereotypes in one video... "I is a newfoundlander" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M8j8WL-qw5E.html They are friendly and have a generally good sense of humour. Heck some of the more... vicious(?) Newfie jokes I ever heard were told to me by the "Newfie" I hung out with for a while. Ontario... it is English and the most populated province... it does "put on airs" so to speak. Because of the population (ON and QC are highest) and the fact they are dominated by English speakers they do tend to (in stereotypes) think what they want is the most important. The territories are expensive as so much has to be imported and/or custom built for there.

They used to have some volumes of nothing but newfoundland jokes, written by a Newfoundlander. We bought them and read them because we knew that it was exactly how the mainlanders viewed us and the joke was actually on them. I remember a visitor to my hometown who kept telling people to speak more slowly and clearly... we were going too fast. My neighbour jumped in with "We don't talk too fast, you just thinks too slow". You can still find some of the Newfie "jokes" in small stores around the province. Square rolling pins, mugs with handles on the inside, newfie binoculars (two beer bottles taped together). Pre- 9/11 a lot of the tourists used to eat the sh*t up.

Newfie here .... "Ise the bye that builds the boats and Ise the bye who sails her", Ise the bye (boy) that catches the fish and brings em home to Lizer (Liza). NL was basrd on the fishery. BC is Canadas California, Quebec is unique but also that child in the family who feels entitled. :) Ontario is Canadas industrial heartland, it's where all the Newfies ran out of money heading west for work ...lol. (That's an old joke) . All in all , we all love each other and we each have something different to contribute to our large Country.
