Senegal's new leader is being inaugurated as the country's president on Tuesday. After a surprise win - largely driven by young voters hungry for change - opposition leader Bassirou Diomaye Faye promised to tackle corruption and protect Senegal's economy from the influence of foreign powers. He now faces a series of major challenges as he prepares to take office.

They’re holding him to a very high standard for a political novice. They should be optimistic and give him room to dismantle institutions of corruption and I hope they don’t get disappointed. If he fails to perform, I see the army taking over. This has been the norm in West Africa.
