Rome is so beautiful at Christmas and luckily, most of the time you get crisp sunny days to wander the streets, popping in to a bar or restaurant to savour some local amazing food ( and wine of course).
Our Tour Guide Manola, from yesterday, she was the best part of the whole tour! Yes! the Coloseo was great. Yes! The Palatine Hill was great. And yes! The Roman Forum was great. BUT, Manola’s way of opening our views was beyond just touring. It was an experience! She was every bit an expert at Rome’s history! We apologize we didn’t know if we were allowed to give tip, we would have love to… Our experience was extra special because of her. Thank you so much Manola! ❤
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this fantastic testimony and review. I’ll be sure to pass it along. Thank you for joining the tour and for subscribing to the channel. Happy travels
I was blessed to be in Rome during the Christmas Holiday and attend the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at St. Peter's Square and see the nativity made out of sand! I should mention that the Christmas season does not start until Dec 7th (at least that is what I read and it was also my experience) so if you want to see everything lit up and all the markets maybe go after Dec 7th to be safe. Rome is beautiful regardless and a must visit!
The real Christmas period begins on December 8, after the pope, like every year, has personally brought and placed a wreath of flowers on the statue of the Immaculate Virgin in Piazza di Spagna

Celebrating the birth of Jesus. Why the father and holy spirit cannot be celebrated every December 25 while they are all equal base in Trinity beliefs.
Went to the newly opened Christmas Market at Piazza Navona (mentioned in passing in video) tonight. AVOID! Super touristy and everything made in China-kinda market. There is a carousel, which is nice, but overall very BAD. :(
If you’re there for purchasing items you’re probably right, but Christmas markets in rome aren’t only about buying goods - it’s just the feeling you get walking through the market, breathing in the crisp air, and soaking in the attractions around you. The city is so beautiful lit up it’s not fair to try and deter people because the consumer goods aren’t up to snuff. It’s about the moment.
This is like going to Assisi or Fatima and complaining about the quality of the shops that sell religious trinkets. You are right that this isn’t a German Christmas market with hand carved items from the village. But, It’s not about the actual items on sale. You are completely missing the point of going to Piazza Navona during the holidays. The nativity scene on display, the food stalls, the carousel, and the energy of the people in the Square, surrounded by the grandeur of Bernini and Borromini is a fantastic experience for most people. Touristy? Is the Colosseum touristy?
