I saw the 'click' happen to my niece's teacher when I went for a parent-teacher conference. The teacher was confused because I looked too young to be attending a parent-teacher conference (I was 20 while my niece was 10). She was telling me how my niece was just so sweet and helpful, an absolute joy to have in class, but she was struggling in reading. She asked me to tell her mother (my sister) to try reading to her every night. I had to explain to the teacher that the mother was not in the kid's lives, abandoned them years ago. I was in college and both of my parents (their grandparents) worked an hour away. We just did not have time to read to her. I saw the 'click' in her face as soon as I finished explaining. Since then she read with my niece for 10 minutes before class started from then on. Her grade improved EXPONENTIALLY.

My brother has ADHD but he didn't get diagnosed until he was a sophomore in high school. Not being diagnosed earlier ruined a lot of things for him so that kid should at least take some kind of test.

I was diagnosed at 5 but didn't receive long-term treatment until my 20s. I was told that I "grew out of it", which I completely believed... until one of my hyperfocus sessions led me to read about ADHD symptoms in adults. Needless to say, I began to figure out that my dopamine situation was pretty fucked, eventually dragged myself to a doctor, and I am now on medication and I no longer have a fear that I have some rare form of early onset dementia.

A guy that I went to elementary school with craved for everyones attention in the worst way possible. He would do some shit, not even try to learn anything and he would get angry real quick (not quite the mafia gangster, but it stood out in elementary school). After meeting his parents and finding out how they treated him it became obvious that he wanted to get attention from everyone since he got none and I mean NONE at home. He could do nothing right, would get yelled at for everything and, if I remember correctly even get beaten by his stepfather. The only person from his family that really liked him was his grandma and for some stupid reason his mother did not let her see him. As far as I know he now got his shit together and is way more pleasant to be around with and the last time I met him he actually was really nice. I can't understand his parents to this day. I don't really remember lots of details because it was, as mentioned in elementary school and at that time swings were way more important than thinking about why that dude was acting like he did (edit) holy shit, that blew up! Thanks!

I'm kinda worried bout my cousins now..4 of them..about 14, 11, 5 and 3 years old..well my uncle and his wife divorced lately and he's not allowed to enter their house so he doesn't see the kids a lot and the mother doesn't really pay attention to them..she only goes to church and stays there the whole day while normally my uncle would've cooked, cleaned, worked, made sure they all get to school safely etc..and now he can't do it anymore and the conditions where they live aren't that great and school is expensive

@christinevanzyl3106 4 года назад
U're never gonna know my name Please continue to pay attention. Ask your cousins how they are doing if you can (ask them if they need help with homework, can help over the internet or in person). Try getting your parents to pay a visit. Try figuring out if the mom is purposefully neglecting them or not. Sometimes life can difficult. Document anything you can in case of the future legal matters (keep a journal with pictures, you can keep it on your phone). Also, less legal but consider getting to know people at the church. Nothing like fear of gossip to get a women to pay more attention to the condition of her kids.

Here's a story I still haven't been able to move past. 8th grade. This is a couple years back, me and my friend were hanging out. My friend was a pretty cool dude, he played baseball, was a senior red belt in taekwondo, and he always got me and my other friends to laugh. We'd been friends for a couple years at this point. Before I get to the actual story, I have to describe my friend. He always came to school with dirty shirts, he constantly smelled like cigarettes, and he had at least 5 silver teeth in his mouth. He also had this really high pitched voice that never matured, and he had asthma. Anyways, one day me and him are walking to our houses from the bus, and he suddenly stops walking. I asked if he was ok, he said yeah, then doubles over and starts coughing. Badly. I expected him to stop, but as he started to cough up blood, I called 911. He was rushed to the hospital, and I ended up seeing his shitty parents. His dad looked like he had just snorted crack, and his mom didn't even enter the hospital until she was done smoking, which took a while. They eventually walked in, and I followed them into my friend's room. I walk in to see him with a fucking oxygen mask on with a bunch of other stuff attached to him. The worst part was that his parents just stood there. No 'I'm so sorry baby! Are you ok?' none of that. Turns out his mom had a gambling and smoking addiction, and his dad sold coke. I felt so bad for him, but it ended up getting worse. He was diagnosed with throat cancer, and he was taken in by CPS, and his parents were arrested. But, all the cigarette chemicals had taken their toll. He died from throat cancer and asthma complications in the 8th grade. I still can't get past him, because when I think of him, all I think of are his parents. If they weren't so shitty, he wouldn't have lost his life. Sorry this story didn't have a happy ending, all stories aren't supposed to be happy. R.I.P. Sebastian. 2005-2018

So don't take it as a burden, instead take this as an experience and reach out to people who are probably going through smthing similar. If ur feeling heavy, help people who are going through these too, it will make u feel lighter because u are trying to give them a better life, maybe u think u couldn't do very much to help out ur friend, but trust me, u did, when he was going through all these shits, u were there to support him! This video reminded me of something. I struggled a lot in middle school. My mother was at the peak of her alcoholism, my undiagnosed at the time depression and anxiety were out of hand, and I'd been outed as transgender by someone I trusted. I attempted suicide in 8th grade. One of my best friend's saved my life by alerting my parents when I sent a text at 3 am to a group chat saying "I love you, I'm sorry." It was quite possibly the worst experience of my life. I went into school on monday, into my english class that had both of my best friends in it. The second my other friend saw me (she'd been asleep when it happened) she burst into tears. My teacher obviously took notice and was quick to bring all three of us out to the hall. I broke down the moment we left the room and this woman just asked if she could hug me. I nodded and she did. That teacher was one of the kindest people I've ever met and I hope she knows I still think of her. I'm planning to stop by the school soon (once quarantine ends) to see a few old teachers and I'm excited for her to see how far I've come.

I can understand and feel you. I'm truly sorry for what happened and I just hope you're getting better. Depression and suicidal thoughts sucks. Screw them and you're best friends are the best. (I also had a friend who tried to commit sucide so in our group chat we were like 5 people stressing out while trying to have a normal conversation while he waited for the suicide hotline to answer. They answered at 4 am and without us he would probably do it. He's now better and even in a relationship.) My little story is meant that suicide isn't the answer,of course,and that true friends are always here for you,no matter the day,or time

my first grade teacher met my parents ONCE and let me stay after school with her and help her grade papers and clean stuff every single day until she had to leave (usually around 5 or 6). she had a meeting with just my mom to get an idea of exactly how bad the abuse was at home, and from then on she let me and my brother (who was in kindergarten) stay in her classroom after school. she gave my brother coloring books and workbooks and let him play with the toys she had in the classroom and talked to my mom all the time. they're still friends even now, 14 years later. she was the only person besides my parents who was allowed to call me "boo" even when I went through a short phase where I hated the nickname. she and my 3rd grade teacher, who did the same thing with us, are definitely the only reason I got through elementary school. middle and high school were a little harder, my house burned down and I had NO support at school from friends or teachers. I dropped out of high school at 15, dealt with my physical and mental health, and didn't graduate until I was 19 (but I only did three years of high school). My art teacher in my final year of high school got me through it and I still talk to her, she's really young (like less than 10 years older than me young) so I got along with her really well. I told her about my mom and all her issues and after she met her for the first time she passed me a note in class that said "I see what you mean about your mom btw. she's nuts". can't believe literally three women are responsible for my academic success

First year teaching, international school, esl, kg. Had a student who was still in diapers, who would fight kids if they talked to the teachers when he was around, just all sorts of problems. I was still fresh and excited, so I showered every student with so much attention and he went from absolutely no English to at level. (Also improved his first language from “baby talk” to at level). Then I met his mom. His parents had divorced and his dad remarried. His dad was a workaholic and never around. He would rather throw money at things to make them “go away”. His mom hated his dad. (Edit: and, by extension the son she had with him). His stepmom felt that since he wasn’t her child, he wasn’t her problem. It was so clear just how neglected he was. At least twice a week he didn’t have a lunch packed (no cafeteria) and if he had a lunch, it was prepackaged junk food (similar to twinkies and little debbys). I would pack extra food for my lunch (we ate with them) just for him, things he never saw before like cucumbers and carrots!! It was just so sad, it would make me cry to my husband at night about how neglected he was. But he was a smart kid, and he was so eager to learn and be shown any attention. Anyway, I still worry about him. I hope he’s okay, but he’s been dealt a bad hand.

If any of you guys watch "Gravity Falls" this'll sound familiar. My classmate's parents were divorced and had been for almost 10 years. (When I witnessed this, he was 15 years old, also, he is about 3 months older than I am) I came over to his house to help him with his homework, and got to see what life was like for him. He had no freedom. He had no privacy. His dad had a bell that he would ring in order to get my classmate to shut up. It was heartbreaking seeing him visibly flinch every time that bell was rang. Between now and then, his Father was arrested for DUI and resisting arrest, and he moved to Michigan with his Aunt. I miss him, but I am happy that he isn't there anymore.

My cousin committed suicide and I took it very hard since he was like a brother to me and it brought up feelings from my sister suicide. I came back to school failing most of my classes and extremely sleep deprived he didn't know my backstory or what was going on in my life but he observed that I wasn't my usual self he let me fall asleep in his study hall and let me stay in his work study period to relax and sleep. 8:51 Ahem. Ahem. NEWS FLASH TO TEACHERS AND PARENTS!! THOSE ARE SERIOUS SIGNS OF ADHD!! I was diagnosed with ADHD after years of my parents and my teachers thinking I just didn’t care. I’m 100% sure that kid is ADHD and just wasn’t diagnosed, because he is exhibiting ALL the symptoms that I had, with the same amount of seriousness- and my ADHD is pretty severe. If you know for sure that they don’t have it, such as they were already tested and diagnosed, then you can say that they don’t have a learning disability. Until then, chill out and look for signs of learning disabilities. It’s not that we don’t care, it’s that our brains make us unable to focus unless we really love what’s happening. We live on each extreme. For example, if I really love a book (and this has actually happened to me) and my mom and her friend are talking about adult stuff in the same room, really loudly, I will not hear them because I’m engrossed in the book. The saying “In one ear and out the other” is true. My brain doesn’t even know someone is talking. My mom has had a one-sided conversation with me while I was reading and not on medication, and I missed all of it- ten minutes worth of a conversation. On the opposite end, if we’re not very interested in what’s going on, or we’re small and just don’t understand what’s going on, WE CANNOT FOCUS. It’s like the dog in the movie “Up” where he’s going about his day and then screams, “SQUIRREL!!”. We just cannot focus, no matter how hard we try. A select few of us, with low-severity ADHD who are smart enough to get around it, are actually somehow able to balance the chemicals in the brains for a select amount of time and focus. But the more severe your ADHD is, the harder it is to do that, and it comes to a point where you can’t. I have very severe ADHD- 30 milligrams of Adderall extended release wasn’t enough (but my doctor didn’t want to add more), and cannot do that. The kid in this video sounds just as severe as me, if not more so. It’s incredibly ignorant to just dismiss the possibility of a learning disorder when the symptoms are right there and screaming in front of your nose. So please, parents and teachers, if your kid can’t pay attention and becomes extremely engrossed in things they enjoy (to the point where they can’t process your existence), please please please please PLEASE try and get them checked for ADHD- especially if you can relate to that or you’ve been diagnosed. ADHD is one of the less severe learning disabilities, but it can ruin someone’s education and work life- and maybe even family life in certain circumstances. Get your kids checked for learning disabilities and don’t ignore the signs, please. If you were able to read through this entire thing, thank you, and I hope you do check your kids for ADHD. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

My parents claim I have ADHD and which I totally agree, it’s hereditary on both sides of my family but they refuse to get me treatment like they did and still do for my sister. They started her when she was in pre-school because it was obvious on the attention span she had and based on the way she acted. She was taken to pediatrician to be then diagnosed with ADHD. She is now 19 and they won’t take her off of it even though she can go weeks at a time without it and be fine but when they find out they force her back on it but they refuse to take me to be examined to be put on medicine. I don’t know if it’s because I’m the youngest and they don’t want to believe I need medicine like my sister or if it’s because they think I’m doing fine. I’m not fine, I can’t focus on one thing without my mind thinking about the other million things I have to do in the next month which causes a toll on my education because I am never able to focus on the work and get it done. Hope I wasn’t wasting the time of whoever is reading this, but I felt like it had to be said because some parents are refusing to get their children examined.
@kenzii4315
@kenzii4315 3 года назад
I love the way you explained it, I have never and I mean never felt as related to as I do now. I get grounded for months at a time because my parents go through a process where I get grounded for 2 weeks and every thing I do(forgetting to do dishes, clothes, I lose interest in the conversation they hold with me, etc) I get a week added on, but they refuse and I mean refuse no matter how many times they have been told by family members that suffer with ADHD but didn’t get diagnosed until their later age due to people ignoring them and saying “stop being lazy” they won’t get me examined. ADHD has cause my education to be worth nothing at this point because even if something could be as easy as reading for 30 minutes a day during class I can’t do it because I’m not interested or if something could be as simple as adding 2+2 I won’t do it because i can’t focus my mind long enough to complete the task. When my mind is going a thousand miles a minute thinking of things that aren’t to come for days, weeks, even months away I won’t be “lazy” about the work I need to do that day, I’ll be thinking of the work that I need to get done in day, weeks, even months from now. If your reading this you probably noticed I have left one more comment above this one explaining why I feel like I’m being treated as less than the way they treated the diagnosis of my sisters ADHD. I’m glad to know I’m not alone in this disgusting blind eye turned to ADHD, it will not only harm children in there younger point in life but in some cases leave a dent in the future they might lose due to an undiagnosed ADHD case.

imagine having good teachers. once, literally in the 7th grade we found playboy magazines and other types of porn in our english teachers classroom and the administrators didn’t even say anything when we reported him. he also stopped grading our work for about 3 months and a bunch of students failed his class for the quarter. his excuse was his grandfather dying, which was only 2 weeks before the quarter ended. when we (a small group of students) asked him to grade our work so we could pass his class he insulted us and said we didn’t have any human decency. we reported this too, since where i live teachers only have 10 business days to grade students work, and the administrators still did nothing. this was also in the 7th grade, i had a friend with adhd and he struggled with math. the math teacher never even taught in his class and made it students responsibility to help other students understand the material we were learning. when my friend just couldn’t understand it at all he started yelling at him calling him a failure. he burst out crying and had to leave early that day and when his parents reported the incident to administration they still did nothing in my freshman year of high school we took a physical education class for 2 weeks and the coach scoffed and rolled his eyes at students that sat out because of injuries or physical disabilities also during my freshman year a friend (who’s family wasn’t to well off) took out some money to go by lunch and our history teacher told her to give him the money and sit down, even though it was our turn to get lunch. he never gave the money back and i ended up making her lunch that entire week. but our spanish teacher is cool though. he cares. 🙃

8:47 For anyone who watched this part, Antisocial Personality Disorder describes both sociopaths and psychopaths, but those terms are not interchangeable (as the person who wrote this part implied.) The chief difference between most people and a sociopath or psychopath is in the amount of natural empathy they feel. A sociopath is born with little ability to feel empathy, while a psychopath is born with none. In my experience (as a person whose minute natural empathy was nurtured), both are prone to violent outbursts of temper but the only remorse a psychopath experiences over the results of these outbursts is in regards to how it adversely affects him (or her.) With sociopaths, the level of remorse depends on how much natural empathy they feel, how much conditional empathy they've been taught to understand, and how important to them the relationship is with the person they blew up at. The question from the video that led to the statement I'm commenting on can thus be answered, "No, you can't raise someone to be a sociopath. However, a sociopath can be made into a psychopath by beating out what liitle natural empathy the sociopath is born with."

I was so ashamed of being me I couldn't even look at my best childhood friend's face. The corruption was so deep literally everyone knew. I ran away at 11 or 12. I remember scaling a canyon wall next to what was then the Singing Bridge with a Salvation Army provided box of day old donuts held my teeth on my way to my cave. An officer drove by. He smiled and waved. I waved back. I found out later one is suppose to have a level 5 climbers licence to legally climb there. CPS also sold my at the time 16 year sister to a man in his 20s. I got some great nieces out of that though... The moral of the story is that it wouldn't have necessarily made your life better... Hugz though. I understand toooooo well..

Honestly a lot, of the time, CPS doesn't really help help kids. Like, some foster parents can be good, but I've heard way too many cases where they weren't. In my family's case, CPS didn't do anything, but that might be due to my mother literally telling us what we could and could not say to the lady

5:12 This is literally my goal as a teacher. I want my students to enjoy class and have fun learning. I tell my students all the time... If that don't have fun while learning, they won't care. Who could think that learning about conjunctions and complex sentences could lead to a debate about having a worm for a pet? My second graders, all engaged in the conversation and laughing. The teachers next to me want my class to not be so loud, but my kids want to come to school and enjoy learning. I'll never make them quiet down!

Not one I did (I’m a teacher aide) but one that happened to me: Way back in primary school I was given speech language exercises due to a “speech language impediment”, I couldn’t pronounce double t’s, H’s were silent, I’d end words which ended with “o” or “a” with an “awl” and HD a tendency to roll my “R’s”, this is due to my family having originally coming from Bristol, England but moving to New Zealand because the climate was nicer, I was born here but rest of family was English. Short version is I sound like either a pirate or Hagrid from the Harry Potter movies. Came home with the exercises one day and both my dad and my grand mum went to the school about it, apparently the teachers looked shocked when they realised what was going on, turned out we were the only family from that part of England in the whole South Auckland, so nobody could correct the teachers that what I had was an uncommon accent not a speech impediment. Irony is now I teach kids with speech problems how to speak but I flick to a more New Zealand accent when pronouncing words although I slip back if I get riled up or excited about something or talk to another English person too long. TLDR: I sound like a pirate, teachers thought I had a problem but it was just a really rare accent where I live, like I can count the number of people I know on one hand rare

She disappeared for seemingly no reason after like 3 months, school was never contacted or anything about it. I think about her a lot and I regret that I didn't talk to her or anything (I'm really bad at talking to others I don't know super well, I literally have no idea how to start or participate in a conversation without friends or it being about some random topic I'm really into). All the stories these teachers are telling here make me feel like I deserved a better music teacher in elementary school. She would always yell at you, even for the smallest of things. If she saw another kid doing something bad she would blame everyone else who were doing what they were supposed to, saying that they “let it happen.” She also made all of our concerts really boring, we could never have fun around her. We were in 3rd-4th grade so she basically traumatized us. There was another teacher with the same name as her in my middle school, everyone from my school freaked out, we thought we were going to die. Turns out it was a different teacher. So, Mrs. Ritchie, if you’re out there: you’re a bitch.

Even though I talked about my depression and that I don't want to go home, no teacher cared... one teacher even told my whole class about my dark thoughts... gladly they didn't care too. My best friend often cried because she didn't know how to help me. We were little kids, we didn't know what to do about parents. I told my mom once that I will call the police on my dad but she said that he was the only one with money. And I knew that my mom wouldn't be determined enought to bring my brothers and I through life alone. My older brother hot a little bit more attention at school, but they couldn't do anything for him too. He went to multiple clinics but it wouldn't help, if anytime he would come home at the end. I was the youngest sibling, I rebelled the most, stayed at friend's homes, but I couldn't safe anyone. My mom refused help, now that my dad cheated and broke up with her, she calls me every day for help. I am so conflicted, but I just can't... We were a pretty wealthy family. Everything looked tidied, my dad bought us everything, wanted to buy love with monry and was so fake friendly to my teachers, only a few people ever realized that he was a faker. Yeah... school was as shit as home. Thanks

The one where they were in 5th grade and had their mother die and had an understanding teacher reminded me of a story my mom told me about when her mom was dying of cancer when she was in high school. Her older brother came to pick her up one day because her mother had been hospitalized, but her class was in the middle of an exam. When he arrived, she handed her test in and left. As she was leaving, the teacher said that if she got less than an A on the exam she could easily sit the exam again. After all, she didn't sit the full period allowed, and she was going through something stressful. Well, funny thing is, she was actually just relaxing and waiting for the time to be up because she'd already finished. She got an A+.

The first was English teacher let’s call her sally, sally was nice and understanding and would help sometimes when it wasn’t worth a whole lot. The second was IT we’ll call him Dave. Dave was nice if you were nice and he was always fair. Unfortunately our grade had some spoilt brats who failed because it didn’t matter because they could just buy their way into college and these kids always took advantage of these 2 and it was horrible watching one of the kids lose a game of fortnite that he secretly downloaded and smashed the monitor on the ground and stomped it until it was flat, he got expelled and had to pay back for the monitor and his dad cut him off from his money. Such a**holes to nice people although most of them failed and their parents stopped giving them money and yesterday I saw one of them at McDonald’s flipping burgers.

When I came back from the mental hospital last year, I went to every teacher to ask for the assignments I had missed that week. One teacher saw me and instantly hugged me and whispered "I'm glad you're back". After everyone left, he asked why I had suffered for so long without teliing anyone. I just responded, "nobody really noticed" which was true, my parents didn't care, and my friends didn't even know why I was gone for a week. For the rest of the school year, the teacher regularly checked in on me and that honestly helped so much with my mental health. Finally someone cared. So to all the teachers out there, if you care, please tell them. It doesn't have to be verbal, maybe in little actions. If you know there is a situation they can't control, please be patient. You might change their lives.

When I was 7 I was diagnosed with tourettes and for the first few months of second grade, my teacher, who was unaware of my condition, was a complete bitch to me. Treated me like I misbehaved etc. I was already frustrated by my tics and the way she treated me just made me angrier. Then she had an accident that required us to have a substitute for about two months, and the substitute made me actually enjoy being in school. She was extremely patient and understanding even though she didn't know about my tourettes either. As a shy person with both tourettes and ADHD I have a lot of stories about teachers who didn't seem to respect me. Yeah, simply being shy affected how I was treated too. Teachers, please don't ignore kids just because they rarely talk or engage in class. My fifth grade english and science teacher gave more help and attention to the popular, socially adept kids and I felt incredibly alienated.

I have always been a talkative student, and my teacher used to shout at me for it until I stopped talking in general, I ended up being silent in lessons. I was going through a really rough time , a couple of weeks later I couldn't do a piece of her homework because I had to do 6 1 hr 45 minute papers in less than one week and I had only managed to do half, so I decided to do the rest the night before and pull an all nighter. My sister ran off that night so we had to call the police, I had to sit with a baby and take care of him because my mother was panicking, my older sister was going after her and my younger siblings were in bed. I had a panic attack the next day in school because I didn't get a chance to do it, I told my form tutor I wanted to kill myself because all my problems were building up and I hated it. She emailed the teacher and I was given an extra week to do the papers. My head of learning took me out of lessons that day (I also had a maths mock and I couldn't revise because of the hw and everything going on so my head of learning said I didn't have to do it) My teacher took me to the side in lesson and asked if I was ok, I told her I will be fine and this has happened before. Since then she's been nicer to me. My head of learning has known for a long time life is stressful and i have had times where I couldn't take it anymore. So she spoke with my mom and she found out she was a single mother and did everything herself and I would always help her

Honestly I’m very grateful that my mum went to a parents teachers interview day and met my mechanical teacher. His words when he asked what student she was here for literally where “oh you don’t need to be here” (usually it was just the misbehaved children’s parents who attended that certain classes interviews) but he mentioned to my mum how I’m always very reserved and quiet (and yes, also abt always the good student I am 😇 ) but because he brought that up, it allowed her to explain why I’m like that, and he became more understanding of who I was as a person and honestly became one of my favourite teachers I’ve ever had and pushed me to be more confident within myself.

Interacted with his mom and she was extremely demanding about everything involving his education - from the gender of his teachers to how we should respond when he acts out. She was also unwilling to hear about why he acts the way he does. It became clear that school is his one place where he can be free from being over-controlled.

!Trigger Warning! So CPS can be really good to get children away from their abusive family, but sometimes CPS makes no sense! My friend came over for a sleepover so that they could come out as male (at the time, they’re now Non-Binary) to their mom. They texted their mom, and then started to panic because their mom is a b*tch who find every reason to yell at them. She responded with something like “We’re having a talk when you get home.” They called CPS and the normal thing of “Press 1 if you’re being neglected or press 2 if you’re being abused.” We hit 2 and was given an operator. Now my friends mom is emotionally and verbally abusing them and you know what the operator said? “I’m sorry, we only help kids who are being abused physically or sexually.” We stayed on the line for a little bit, then hung up. My friend had a brake down in my kitchen. Another friend also called CPS, he was also being verbally abused for being trans and CPS showed up at his door, stayed for about 3 or 4 minuets, then left telling him the same thing. He later tried to commit suicide, he failed luckily.

The person who spoke of the interaction that they remembered 40 years later reminded me of an experience I had in school. I struggled severely in elementary, diagnosis’s for a handful of different mental disabilities, abuse from my alcoholic step father, bullying, my dog and only friend for the first real years of my life being run over in front of me, going to the psych ward at 9, over all it was severely stressful and so much more happened that I just don’t remember. (My childhood best friend has told me countless stressful memories they were with me to witness, and they never ring a bell for me) anyways, I had a lot of very explosive meltdowns at school, and obviously a lot of people there were aware of them. I started getting some supports and I slowly gained tools to work with stabilizing myself, and even aquanted a few of my classmates. There was this dad of a student in a lower grade than me (I think I was in like grade five at this point.) as I started to make steady progress, he stopped me multiple times and would acknowledge my progress and tell me he was really proud of me. I never met this guy, didn’t know him, he wasn’t family or family friend. But he’d just stop me and tell me that when he went to pick up his daughter. And I don’t know if he ever knew this, but to this day those words mean the world to me. I never met my bio dad at the time, and my step father was an abusive piece of shit who called me a monster when I had meltdowns. Having an adult male figure tell me he was proud of me truly stuck with me and I still think of it often. Hawaiian shirt dad (he always wore Hawaiian shirts lol) wherever you are, I hope you and your daughter are doing good, and thank you for being a proud father figure to me, even if only for a minute or so at a time.

Sabriellena Schwartz it said that gays weren’t oppressed and that we were hogging the limelight because baby fetuses were the truly oppressed . I wish I hadn’t thrown it out, but the hands are outstretched to a photographed (actual, not drawn) aborted fetus next to a quarter for size. The pamphlet had a cover that said “we haven’t won yet”. I also got this weird cult pamphlet that read like a manga that said we were essentially created by aliens or some shit. I might go looking for PDFs online or something. Edit: here's the link to the image: (Also a trigger warning about said bloody baby?) www.pinknews.co.uk/images/2017/10/Big-Inside-AGMD-QF.jpg

Just want to say something in response to something that was mentioned there. "Nature vs. Nurture" is a false dichotomy. If you were to compare it to construction, genetics would be the foundation and framework of the house; their experience in life is what completes the structure, paints it, and fills the house with furnishings and belongings. They don't _fight_ one another. Influence each other or build upon each other? Yes, but they aren't in any way opposed.

I had a maths teacher in year 11 when I was going through the worst of my Anorexia, and she stopped me after every class and made sure I was ok, Cus she saw me drop 10kg in a couple months and my eyes and nails went yellow. Turns out her daughter went through the same thing so she knew what to look out for. She helped push me in the right direction and encouraged me to get professional help. I can never thank her enough, she was like a grandmother/ mother to me during my senior years and while I love my other grandmas, one was wheelchair bound and had dementia and the other one had bipolar disorder and during me senior years she was going through a major depressive episode where she was hospitalised and we all thought she was going to die because she just gave up. That lady took that upon herself to step in to a spot in my life that had a huge hole in it, and I don’t think I could ever thank her enough for helping me through one of my darkest times, or apologise enough for being such a distruptive and rude and hard to deal with student. But I always make sure to give her a huge hug when I see her, which isn’t often since I Live hours away now

8:40 I think it also sometimes has something to do with the parents of a kid growing up- if the parents aren't their real parents, aren't loving enough/at all or show frequent anger at others in front of the kid there's a higher chance the kid will be a sociopath. I imagine sociooaths can be created three ways- they can be like that from birth, from the reasons I just listed or from a mix of both. There's also a slight chance that a child can be beginning to show sociopathic tendencies due to the way it's raised and then abruptly stop and live the rest of its life with a few minor traits that sociopaths usually have and nothing else. This might also be the reason there are more and less inyense/obvious sociopaths.
