Ahhh!! I hope you guys liked this video! i worked for hours on it❤️ i tried to link most items in the description box, but if there is anything else you guys want me to link then lmk!! ily all🥰
Sidenote: the outfits you wear to class rlly do depend on your university, some colleges are more dressy than others. At least at my school, there is a big amount of people who do dress up, including myself and my friends! So what I would say is scope out the waters a little bit first and then find what works for you
Natalie Ray yea like I already know that my friends are going to be dressing up a lot more cause they are going to NYU versus me going to school in nowhere North Carolina lol
i reallyneed to buy some new clothes, during lockdown mine are just nasty old and some don't fit, but I cant shop because my dad is strict and paranoid :(
I’m literally scared to get rid of/ leave behind my clothes because I have sooo many cute clothes. I pride myself on having the wardrobe of like a budget influencer
bring them! i dressed up nearly every day in college cos that's just what i liked- made me feel more motivated and confident, and if you're comf like that, do it! (for ref kids at my school wore outfits v similar to the ones in this video)
It definitely depends on your school ! i go to a super urban university and everyone dresses up and there's a large street style culture. wear whatever you want/feel comfortable in
It definitely depends. My school has a mix of sweats and nice. I also go to a small Christian college and we dont have greek life or any partying outside of school functions so that whole section doesn't work for my school
pro tip for schools like mine where people do dress up a little bit: big pants tiny shirt outfits! sweatpants and a cute croptop looks a lot more put together and is super comfortable
it’s so funny how here in brazil we literally wear all of those clothes (from pijamas to fancy dresses) to class just because... like, we just acknowledge and respect everyone individual sense of style
that's awesome! i live in australia and although my school has a uniform, we get casual clothes days... however, it's uncommon for anyone to wear things other than hoodies and tracksuit pants/leggings. i'm glad individuality's so respected over in brazil
I’m from Amsterdam and I was very surprised to hear that jeans are considered dressing up. Here I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing athletic wear to university. Interesting to see how fashion differs per university and country. :) loved the video btw
Heck, I live in Australia and even I'm surprised at the amount of people wearing athleisure here. My high school has a uniform so I was interested to see what other people would be wearing on casual clothes days- turns out it's just name-brand leggings and sweatshirts. Oof, haha.
Also the sweaters thing also depends on where your college is located. I go to a college in a location that is much colder, and everyone wears sweaters (that being said my college is on the dressier side). Also any college in a large city like New York is a little dressier I would say
I just want to point out for everyone that might be freaking out, panicking and stuff, that everything depends on the college/university you're going to and also the country (!!!). I'm not from the US and for example, I practically live in sweaters in autumn, nobody wears sweatpants to class, everyone is trying to look nice, I've never seen someone wear school merch and we have a pretty big shopping mall like 30 minutes of walking from our campus, so you can easily buy clothes if you need them urgently. Every school is different so just don't stress about it too much and try to enjoy your uni life as much as you can :)
Not necessarily. A lot of people wear more casual clothing because it’s more comfortable and it’s the easiest thing to throw on when you’re going to class. The fact is college is way different from high school because no one cares what you’re wearing. So if you want to dress up, you can, but a lot of people are just more comfortable in sweats and a tshirt.
Alex Perez also, college schedules are SO different than high school. You may have been at school from 8-3 everyday and had time for extra curriculars etc, but in college, 8 am classes are the absolute worst and you WILL NOT want to sit in class all day. I was a morning person and did extra things in high school, college is just an entirely new breed.
Alex Perez I think they just said that because in the video she says that dressing up gets you stared at and makes you uncomfortable if you’re not wearing what she’s wearing
I just finished my freshman year at Indiana University! Honestly, I basically 'dressed up' all the time because I've just always preferred that, even in high school. A ton of people dressed up as well but also a ton of people didn't!
I go to Virginia Tech and wear cute stuff to class. It is just about your preference y'all. I wish more people wore good outfits to class but you do you
I go to school in Georgia and our class style consists of what you said but we also do wear like lazy sweaters in the fall, and the platform sandals are worn to class bc girls would just wear oversized tees and shorts.
All her outfits are super cute in this video and often seen at my college! They are most common to people in Greek life at my school and are just one of the many ways students dress. My friends and I like to dress up a little more for class and wear jeans, cute tops, lots of chain belts and other accessories. So don’t feel like you need to change your look to fit in. I know college is going to look a lot different this year which is really sad for everyone. Stay safe people!
my school has a uniform, so it's kiiinda unfortunate to hear that college might be yet another uniform- but instead of plaid skirts and scratchy jumpers, it's tracksuit pants and sweatshirts. oh well lol
Trust me America is like the only country in the entire World where ppl wear sweats to school...like I went to uni in Vietnam for two years before moving here and ppl dressed up like almost everyday so it was weird for me to see anyone in sweats lmao 😂 but 3 years in and I am now on #teamsweats
To anyone going to school somewhere colder (I go to school in Wisconsin) bring your jean jackets!!! Everyone wears them to parties in the winter instead of jackets so you don't lose your winter jacket at a party and they can easily be tied around your waist. They are the only thing protecting you from the cold when walking from party to party and they are the number one thing I recommend for new students to bring actually
I’m gonna be a freshman this fall and this video was soooo helpful!!! if you have any videos about sorority rush & advice (I’ve watched your rush week vlog a million times!) and your experience/things you wish you knew etc please let me know!!! love your channel!!!
This is so interesting. I went to a small school in Pittsburgh and everyone dressed literally the opposite. I brought a bunch of sweats and T-shirts’ and never wore them and like ONLY wore workout gear, sundresses, and sweaters with jeans. Our school was small with no big football team and not a lot of Greek life so it must have to do with that. So interesting! Very nice for incoming freshman of Virginia tech to watch this and feel less nervous though!
yes i love this!!! i go to vt and as a freshman, walking all around campus in jeans IS NOT THE MOVE!!!!! i bought so many pairs of leggings this year bc i always wore jeans in high school
Can you do a video on all of the stuff that you brought that you ended up taking back cuz you didn't need it or it took up too much space? I've just heard you talk about moving stuff home throughout your freshman year and was wondering what all it was!
wow schools are so different, we dress up going to class, have completely different going out style, and wear dresses to tailgates too. So interesting!
id say it definitely depends on what school u go to !! I got to uc berkeley in california and some ppl wear sweats, but a lot of ppl also wear dresses and jeans to class! also for ex even tho our greek life is big no one rlly wears their letters so it rlly depends !
Youre not alloewed to wear sweatpants at my University. But most students at my school proabably woudnt wear sweats anyway. My school really likes being more put together. Makes all of my friends and I feel a lot more motivated and focused when we put on an outfit, but doesnt have to be anything too crazy. We also wear leggings a lot.
do you know if like dual enrollment kids do Anything? I’m technically a junior in hs but I’m taking all my classes at a college campus. are we invited to anything :,)
Hey Maya! Do you think you could link the American eagle light wash "boyfriend jeans" you were wearing in the going out clothes section? I'm absolutely obsessed with them and need them asap
I don’t get why anyone would want to show up to class in big sweaters and sweat pants it’s so unflattering. I like jeans they’re comfy. If you find a good brand they feel like leggings but aren’t as revealing. I don’t usually wear leggings any place but the gym because I don’t like how they show so much of my ass.
"Less clothes the better" so are you telling girls to dress slutty and whoreish? YOU SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING LADIES TO WEAR WHAT THE WANT. WEAR WHAT THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE WEARING. College should be labeled dress as slutty as you possibly can.
If you’re going to be taking lab classes make sure to bring unripped jeans, in my gen chem lab only unripped jeans and thick sweatpants were allowed bc of the risk of spilling a chemical on your legs.
As a french college student a hardly ever see anyone in activewear on campus everyone is so dressed up at all time. Fun to see the cultural differences about uni
One of my most used things I would never have thought to bring was a fracket (frat jacket) basically a cheap jacket that you don’t care about getting dirty or losing. Going to school in the north you definitely need to wear a jacket when walking to or between parties but you don’t want to have to worry about keeping track of your nice winter coat!
SO TRUE!! I would invest in a cute long sleeve crop top that you like if you’re going to school in the North so that u can wear cheap flimsy jackets on top that you don’t mind getting ruined
Literally everyone at my university wears athletic wear every day. I’m the only one who dresses cute. I feel over dressed but I refuse to look sloppy 😭
this is actually really useful my sister went to college last year and had no idea what to wear. She kept asking me how college students dress and I was like bruh idk I'm still in high school -_-
lol sports isn't a thing at my school, and everyone dresses in artsy clothes. It's not a preppy school whatsoever. Theres a few thrift stores in the town so i definitely will be shopping
A few (literally one or two) casual dresses/rompers can be useful if you like to go to brunch and like weekend shopping at stuff. totally depends on your school and personality though. My campus is in a city so our dorms were in walking distance of like regular restaurants and stuff off campus
ik u mentioned a shirt or two from shein but all of my going out clothes are basically shein bc it doesn’t matter what you get on them! plus you can get trendy stuff for cheap! my going out formula was: (good!!! can’t stress this enough) black jeans + a tank top or t-shirt from shein (which was just my fav) + my old vans
