Another severely underrated moment is that in wgich he holds the oaths fulfilled. There was nothing stopping him from continuing to use or extort the undead save maybe they're reaction to it. An immortal invincible army that in the movies could effectively have won the war for the forces of good, but nonetheless he left them to their rest after they served their purpose and he held up his promise. Easily another LG moment and a good one at that.
@Lickicker
@Lickicker Год назад

@timwoods2852
@timwoods2852 Год назад
One small problem with comparing what the Hobbits, *_especially_* Sam and Frodo, did with basic foot soldiers delivering supplies, is that it downgrades the weight of carrying the One Ring! They're more like subterfuge agents tasked with carrying a live wasp nest into the enemy's chambers because he's deathly allergic to wasp venom. Along the way they get stung, suffer injuries to keep the nest safe, have to deal with the original nest keeper who wants to eat the wasps for his own twisted pleasure, etc. Frodo is permanently scared *to the point of choosing an early death* due to his constant exposure to the One Ring! They definitely deserve all the clout they got.
@hasturthekinginyellow5003
@hasturthekinginyellow5003 Год назад
One thing that the movies do beautifully but that almost everyone overlooks, is that the ring not only gets more powerful the closer they get to Mordor, but it also gets physically heavier and heavier; you can see this represented with how Frodo's neck gets seriously injured by the constant rubbing of the chain against his skin, and at some point Frodo is literally shown to be *dragged* to the ground by the sheer weight of the ring, unable to carry it anymore. The ring is not really a wasp nest, but rather a pound of radioactive material that's poorly contained; poisoning it's carrier by simply existing

These were indeed some of the most influential movies of their time, to the point that many others, even Jackson himself tried and failed to recapture the magic that made them unique. Also I want to mention a well enough factoid about the movie... well I would love to mention a lot but I'll hold myself and just mention one. During the filming of one of the fights, an extra dressed as an orc threw a real axe at Viggo Mortensen and he deflects it with a prop sword. It is insignificant for the story but I liked facts like that.
@vexaris1890
@vexaris1890 Год назад
It's not an extra, it's the chief Urûk (Lurz) in the first movie, and he throws a knife and Viggo deflects it. It's also still a prop knife, he just wasn't supposed to throw it directly and Viggo.

If you are talking about The Hobbit movies, Peter Jackson had no time for preproduction in that one. He was literally just stepping in and making sure that the movies were made when the original director couldn't. On The Lord of the Rings he had plenty of time to plan and preproduction before shooting. On these books that makes all the difference.

He's a human with all the skill of a Sylvian Elf!

Book and movie Aragorn converge in RotK when Aragorn comes to Gondor and sees the Argonath again where the weight of his legacy and duty mirrors that of the One Ring on Frodo. Book Aragorn is more confident in himself though. He has been training and focused on this moment for eight decades. The One Ring could not hide itself forever. Aragorn knew this was his doom or perhaps the doom of his son, or grandson. The confrontation with Sauron was inevitable and the heir of Elendil had to be ready. After finding Gollum, Aragorn knows for sure he is the one. From then on it will either be death or the realization of all his dreams and the salvation of the Free Peoples of Arda. He's all in at that point come what may. It's all Bushido after that.

I regret that I am not clear as to what you intend by arisch. I am not of Aryan extraction: that is Indo-Iranian; as far as I am aware none of my ancestors spoke Hindustani, Persian, Gypsy, or any related dialects. But if I am to understand that you are enquiring whether I am of Jewish origin, I can only reply that I regret that I appear to have no ancestors of that gifted people. My great-great-grandfather came to England in the eighteenth century from Germany: the main part of my descent is therefore purely English, and I am an English subject-which should be sufficient. I have been accustomed, nonetheless, to regard my German name with pride, and continued to do so throughout the period of the late regrettable war, in which I served in the English army. I cannot, however, forbear to comment that if impertinent and irrelevant inquiries of this sort are to become the rule in matters of literature, then the time is not far distant when a German name will no longer be a source of pride."

However, it is absolutely true that he wanted to be king to restore peace, justice, and lawful rule to his people, in other words, to serve them, not because he wanted power for its own sake. Also, Elrond had made Aragorn becoming king a condition of his blessing for Aragorn to marry Arwen, he didn't want her to be the wife of a fugitive living in the wilderness.

Oh, and yes. Politicians are lawful evil. Statesmen are lawful good. What’s the difference between a politician and a statesman? A statesman will sacrifice his/her own career for the good of the country. A politician never will. And that’s really the difference between lawful good and lawful evil (lawful neutral are your everyday police officers who are “just doing their job”). Lawful good sees oneself as a true servant of one’s country/kingdom/etc. Lawful evil is self-serving only.

I'd like to ask a question here. At 12:18 you say "Aragorn was never meant to represent any specific people or person." You then call out WoTC for their depiction. May I know what exactly you meant by that here? What are you trying to say?

Definitely should have given a lawful good for him talking to boromir when he was dying and taking his bracers that he had on through the rest of the movies

Dude everytime a character does something good that doesn't make them lawful good it just makes them good. Lawful is showing respect for laws and authority. Giving a hobbit and apple isn't showing respect for laws and authority its just being a good guy lol

I agree; Those of us who actually understand how character alignments work can tell the difference between Chaotic, Lawful & Neutral Good. The guy who wrote this turd video doesn't know anything.

I would pay money to see you do Sheridan from Babylon 5. as much as I like Aragorn, as awesome as Aragorn is, Sheridan is the person I think of when I think of a good person. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you chose not to do an alignment vid on him as Babylon 5 is a TV show and not something that can be watched in a day.

Aragon basically is the culmination of Jesus and King Arthur HOWEVER I believe there are hints of other inspirations added onto the character like, for example, Aragon is very wise and a great deal of courage as well. I would even go so far to say, as he has a small amount of inspiration from king Leonidas. MAYBE also a pinch of inspiration from some of history’s, most honorable kings and leaders. Idk. Aragon definitely was a reflection of the best humanity had to offer If not, it’s complete incarnation of the ideals humanity holds in the highest regard.

I'd say neutral-neutral at the start, then curving towards lawful good via neutral good towards the end. I'm on the fence whether he actually reaches full lawfulness.

Personally, I'd rank him as Neutral Good, since he does what he believes is right regardless of what people think. When you consider that for a good chunk of his life, he's been a Ranger, he hasn't been embedded into any society. Surviving the wild and hunting Orcs for most of his life, its hard to see how Law even fits in there. Also I wouldn't say that him sparing the creep is Chaotic Good. Chaotic Good try to destroy evil regardless of the costs or consequences. For it to be a Chaotic Good act is if Aragorn killed the creep himself. I heard it from Worf in Star Trek DS9 after he beat Gowron and just as he is about to give the mantle to Martok: Martok - Worf! I do NOT seek leadership. Worf - Kahless said that great men do not seek power, they have power thrust upon them (puts the mantle on Martok). Hail Martok! Leader of the Empire! Leader of destiny.

I don’t think Aragorn saved what’s-his-face from Theodan for the sake of saving a life, but because it would’ve been the Kings first official act without being controlled by Sauroman, and it was happening right in front of the whole city to witness. I always thought Aragorn saved his life to spare the King a reallllllllllly bad move
