David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer, Numbers) joins us this week to candidly share his experience overcoming thyroid cancer, the difficulties surrounding this disease while working in Hollywood, and how it was preceded by a nine month panic attack. Later, David talks about the validation he received from Christopher Nolan after landing a prominent role in Oppenheimer, his humbling first day on set, and a crazy story of how auditioning for this part evidently led to him becoming sober. We also talk The Santa Clause, pivoting on Numbers, and a horror story of a honeymoon.

David really did ALL the heavy lifting on that series. Rob Morrow might have been the putative star, but his role was way easier in terms of sheer verbiage.

I love how his method legit looked like he was thinking which is more natural than just blurring out the lines

It's a shame that David's contract with NUMB3RS prevented him from returning for Santa Clause 3. Bernard was definitely missed a lot.

true but i love the show numbers even more than that film which was decent but it Numbers was better i really wish they'd bring it back with the Original cast while they are still all around. i doubt it will though and personally i had no issues on how it ended either.

@rolandofgilead43 seemed like it could have continued. At same time it worked to finish the series.

Holy shit. I’m just now realizing Isidor Rabi in Oppenheimer was Bernard in The Santa Clause.

I remember they hid a lot of his monologues by cutting in graphics and you could tell when they had him do ADR for some too.

My family loved NUMB3RS! I will say as a physics degree grad, as it progressed, it was just a lot of statistics. I was hoping for more applied math. Ah, well. Thanks, David. You've come a long way from Life with Mikey. (Yeah, I'm old, too)

Numbers was enjoyable but his role in the The Serenity movie is what I remember him most.

I loved Numb3rs!! He did a great job with this role. He touched on something important - it is a JOB. Viewers think it's very glamorous to be a performer, but it is NOT.

I watched Numb3rs long time ago and was glued to it, and for some reason I came across it again last week and I am literally binging ,just finished season 2 and season 3 in 5 minutes and just want to say it is the best crime film I have ever seen in my life, funny, smart, catchy with such an amazing cast so THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVID AND THE WHOLE BUNCH FOR THIS GREAT SERIES!CLASSIC!

I remember doing a scene in my acting class and it was a very difficult scene for dialogue but I used the limited props we had to my advantage. I lucked out since I would be sitting down, we had to use one of those old school desks with the cubby and I snuck my script in beforehand. I had really good vision and could look out of the corner of my eye and play certain things off. Teacher didn't have a clue what was going on.

And now neuroscience research on memory/recall very strongly supports D.K.'s approach. Ironic? In D.K.'s circumstances, "cramming" as close in time to the scene's filming (or demand for memory recall) should lead to the best result. The disclaimer is that this interpretation is based on the specific circumstances described in this vid.

I still enjoy Numb3rs; the chemistry that Krumholtz had with his fellow cast members (especially Morrow, Hirsch, MacNichols) was second only to his absolute perfection in playing Charlie. He sold the genius and the occasional awkwardness flawlessly. He's a seriously talented man.

Whatever they did, the show clicked on all cylinders for me. We rewatch the entire series at least once a year (along with X Files and L&O: CI, Goren and Eames only though). Some people loved Seinfeld and Arrested Development, we love Numb3rs.
