Curious if they are actually used by some as bird houses and if so, do the ones with bird figurines dissuade birds from making a home there?

This is mainly used for a feeder on a porch. But you can put a disk of wood with a small hole drilled through for small birds.

Are the cups used for water or simply decorative? This is a beautiful project, thank you for sharing your talent.

The cups are for birdfeed. If you put duct tape inside the teapot to cover the spout you can put feed in the teapot as well. This project is best used on a covered porch. Have a wonderful day. Merry Christmas! :)

LOL :) They actually do. New owners will often put a disk of wood with the appropriate hole cut for smaller birds. Mostly though, they are used for decorative feeders for front porches or deco in a kitchen or dining room where owners keep their teacups. I have been making them for 11 years now. Yes, and you can actually put a false front to fit any bird. Most people use them inside for kitchen decor :)

I am sorry for the late response. Yes. People have used them indoors and out. E6000 is weatherproof. I have a heavy wire attached by screws for security.

What are the dimensions of the wood?

Hello Diane! I start out with a 6ft-10ft 1 x 6. The back is 16 inches. The base is a 7 x 7 cut. The tops are 7 x 8 and 7 x 7 :) Very sorry to may not have mentioned this. I was somewhat new to making videos :) Have a most wonderful crafting day!
