It was a risk, no fight scenes, or car chases. It was plain and simple, great acting and a story that took you on a journey of the past. Kevin Costner is a master of his craft.👏👏👏👏
Costner is a pretty tough guy in real life. He had Michael Blake up against a wall one time. His response to the “peak” comment is so honest and funny 😂
Costner Peaked at Dancing with Wolves and it went downhill after that.He wanted to be the next Clint Eastwood in his Westerns. No Way that was happening.
I don't like that word, BUT here it really makes me laugh . . . Seton's laugh, Costner's reaction and smile, McLovin with his back to the camera . . . sooo funny! And, BTW, I'm watching this 2 years later and Costner is still gorgeous!! Plus he seems like a genuinely nice guy, regardless of who he's talking to. :)
He was right about Field of Dreams. That easily could’ve been a disaster if it was handled poorly. It was probably a movie with the least amount of tension you will ever see and filled with a lot of heartfelt, soul searching moments. Fortunately it turned into a masterpiece.
I know Kevin smirked as he said it, but I can't tell if it's because he caught what he had said (f bomb) or was he was just giving the guy a hard time, BUT he did look slightly upset with what he had said...maybe it's just me? I love costner though, so I don't really care, just curious
Ramiro Rincon That is the problem with our society today. Keep compromising. Oh its ok.. I am an adult and I do not tune in to hear vulger language. It will always be offensive on tbis stage.
I'd be interested if Kevin or others can put in a 'back out' clause in their contract, and/or how contractually locked are they when agreeing to do Field Of Dreams et al? I always remember the mess Kim Bassinger caused getting on board to do Boxing Helena. And still not sure if she quit, or was fired? But she certainly didn't like the direction the movie was going, and no one wanted to hear her ideas. And a long court battle ensued as to who was obligated to who under contract. Right at her 'peak' too. LOL
Everyone on the planet can be separated into two categories, people who love Field of Dreams and people who hate it. Pick your friends, your wife, even your employees by that simple criterion.
Field oF Dreams was never going to be that goofy because the book, Shoeless Joe, was a best seller. A lot of people knew what Field of Dreams was about before the movie made the theatres. It was more a question of the movie being the story Kinsella told in the book. This is why education is important. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean others don't.
Field of Dreams took a ton of chances. It could very easily have been a huge flop. The fact that it's based on a book that was a best seller doesn't mean anything. If a book sells 100,000 copies it's considered a success. If only 100,000 people go to the theatre to see a movie (especially in 1988) then that movie is going to be a flop. And I guarantee you 95% of the people who went to see Field of Dreams when it first came out had never heard of the book.
@@piteusx8440 I disagree. I went to see it at the theater when if first came out. All people knew is that it was Kevin Costner in another baseball movie.
@@lynnturman8157 I don't know where you grew up ... but most people had heard of the book, Shoeless Joe. It was after a niche audience. Costner even admitted it was a big budget movie.
@@piteusx8440 yeah, it was a big budget movie. That's one of the ways it took a huge chance. Because I still say most people had never heard of the book at the time. Yeah, now they have, after the movie has been so successful for 30 years. I lived in Seattle at the time. And Shoeless Joe was not a thing in popular culture or mainstream media or whatever you want to call it. I could be wrong. Maybe I've blocked out all memories of Capraesque sports fantasy novellas dealing with sons bringing back their childhood heroes from the dead.
So yeah....got a great idea for a movie....the world is flooded, Hopper will play the bad guy and you have webbed feet. its gonna be huge. What could go wrong?
Poor Kevin, he actually thinks he is an A-list star. His career went in the toilet because he's always wanted to be the hero, the winner, the badass in every single film, refused to do any sequels, not to mention the fact the he's an asshole.. Add that up and you have an actor with about 4 or 5 great years. His peak was 30 years ago. Although Open Range was a great movie it was Robert Duvall that made it that way, Kevin based his character on Duvalls' Augustus "Gus" McRae from Lonesome Dove.. Kevin is no Gus, He is no Wyatt Earp either. Another Hollyweirdo
If you wanna fire shots at someone, don't load "refused to do any sequels" into the chamber. Historically speaking, sequels have largely been money grabs, so refusing to do them on principle speaks to integrity more than anything else.
the movie is borderline masterpiece.. it just has way too many things going on that dont makes sense , fantasy movie mixed with heartfelt reality was just a poor choice ... could have tweeked this just a little ...and been even better
Dan Patrick and his little danettes! What an ego that he has! To have a group of guys that he can call his Danettes! I, being the man I am would never want to be called a Danette! It’s a great name for a girl! It’s my daughter’s name matter of fact! Just don’t like his show. He’s a name dropper. He wants you or us to know all the big name people he knows. Who cares!
Why can’t u course in the US on TV or radio, that’s strange for the land of the free. Here u can say what the F;) u want. Children don’t care, they know that words anyway.
