I would not have believed it, until I saw it for myself. Such a huge and terrible transformation, of a clear beautiful desert lake. What were they thinking, why didn't they consider the impact on the Bill Williams River and Lake Havasu?

Nice filming and narration but the mud is a good thing. I like clear water too but mud is sediment and sediment carries nutrients. Before the dams, the lower Colorado was muddy. That's where it got it's name, from the muddy-red tint. Clear water is actually quite sterile. They sometimes open Glenn Canyon Dam to simulate floods which stir up the mud and carry sediment downstream which provide nutrients to plants and animals in the canyon.

Quagga / Zebra Mussels will clear up Havasu faster than it would if they weren't there. The 'fishing' for the fishermen themselves may have changed temporarily . . . I assure You the health of the fish & the fishery itself is intact. If anything it will HELP the overall fishery in Havasu. The largemouth bass which spawn in shallow water will benefit from from stained/ muddy water with less visibility as 'Sight Fisherman' (along with other predators) will not be able to target them as easily as when the water is clear. While this event may 'Appear' to be detrimental in the short term, be assured that it is a good thing for health of the biomass of Lake Havasu.

The sediment will settle and the clear water will return.

There is still a light brown tint in some swallower locations. But on the positive side, the Reeds in the Preserve have grown significantly and are a deep green. The underwater vegetation has grown and is healthy. Which also improved the shad, which improved the fish and fishing. The added silt in overall seems to have a positive effect. Near 12 months I will go back.and film at or near the same locations so we can see between the 3 periods. Thank you for your question.

The report I received April 20, 2023 was that this will continue until July and maybe a little beyond

If memory serves me correct. The lake was very muddy in 1986-ish when they opened the spillways in BHC. Relax . . . It'll take care of itself.

I grew up at this lake. The water is garbage. Dirty. Beaches are filled with oil slick. They made this place too commercialized. Green waters. No blue. It's pretty gross now.
