So what if you have let’s say sticky dandruff that is stuck to your scalp in which I have and I pluck it out or scratch it out and my head contains so many flakes that when I shake my head there are a ton of flakes but it’s not noticeable on my hair or scalp. What would be recommended in the amount of days you shampoo and condition your hair cause I have like a wavy curly type hair men. Any suggestions bro
I appreciate how simple you made it and cited some of your claims from actual studies. Anytime my hair gets longer than 3 or 4 inches my scalp itches and flakes like crazy. Currently at 6 inches, hoping i can find a cure for this crap before i cut it all off. Thanks Trav!
20, here I feel you bro, but I think it's just due to generic dryness because my dad has the same thing, however he just shaves his hair off and goes bald, I can't do that and I was just scared it could've been dandruff. Glad it's not I'll shampoo my hair a lot more now.
@@zakke6851 Oh I used an anti-flakes and dandruff shampoo called "No more Flakes" I used it twice a week and I wouldn't say it's 100% gone but a solid 80% is gone after 2 weeks. So yeah there has been some progress. I can wear black comfortably now 😂
I found doing an apple cider vinegar wash is extremely helpful. I do about 2 washes a week and helps keep the itching on the scalp minimal as well as the flakes.
@@mehrdadmomenizadeh3643 I like to pour out some into a small bowl (without mixing water in it). I dip my fingers in the bowl and massage it into my scalp while bending over the sink. MAKE SURE YOU AVOID GETTING IT ON YOUR EYES, IT WILL BURN LIKE HELL. Anyway, I repeat until the entire scalp has had the apple cider vinegar worked in. Let it set for a min and then take a shower. Another way to do it is to mix 2/3 ACV and 1/3 water into a spray bottle and spray it on the scalp until the entire scalp is covered, work it in and then take a shower. There are plenty of videos on RU-vid that demonstrate how to get it done. *the ACV has ruined a few T-shirts, so be careful.
I just love all of that research! Not only did I learn a lot, I can also just go and read the studies you provide by myself! I really appreciate your work ty
i can’t use oils in my hair because my hair gets very oily naturally and i have really thick hair so i honestly feel like i should just shave my hair off
I mean, I always thought being interested in grooming and style was awesome but never thought I could actually revise medical lectures with it. Thanks Trav keep going man ✊🏼🖤
Great video! I've been growing my hair out and have been watching your videos recently, it's great to hear that I should increase my shampooing because in one video you said to decrease it while your hair is long to prevent damage, but I suffer from SB and notice less flaking when I wash more often. I guess it also all comes down to genetics as well.
I have the same problem and when i wash more oștean it starts to go away. I tryed once a week and it got way worse. So from now at least 2 times a weak
But. U can hot oil masssage (warm oil) almond oil or coconut oil and steam the scalp for 10 minutes than after that apply any herbal hair mask of curd, fuller earth, honey, lemon, etc available online leave for 20 or 30 minutes or until dry, wash with warm water, don’t use chemicals products on ur hair and hot water or dryer frequent use, also avoid hair conditioner use natural( few drops of oil , lemon and apply on washed hair ) try it helps on hair growth and fall and also for dandruff
I have a sub from me from this video alone.. you've talked about the science and facts that most DERMS ON YT WONI'T DARE TO MENTION. My SD was terrible in late Feb. and took out a great deal of my hair. i'm currently trying to figure this thing out on my own because my derm neglects to treat my SD. she makes more money having me run back to her and fill some bs prescription she know won't work. I've had scalp infections that she just overlooks. ... thank you for sharing the facts.. i knew there was something more than just the Mal fungus........ NOT even a man and you benefit for all content but i'm still willing to sub
I used to have really bad Seborrheic Dermatitis both on my scalp and on my face for many years, the itching was unbearable. I did see quite a few dermatologists over the ears and used tons of products they prescribed, including antifungic shampoos and lotions, but to be very honest, I didn't see any result what so ever. Some medical doctors associate Seborrheic Dermatitis with the ingestion of gluten and milk. Since I changed my diet and stopped eating gluten and sugar and drinking milk, and started using organic shampoos, my scalp /skin problems went away.
I'm currently dealing with a bad case of SD. and your right! none of the prescribed shampoos or lotions help. I was given on steroid/ lotion to control my inflammation and all it did was take my hair out. i have lost length, strength, and density. I'm currently trying to add tea tree oil, a non prescribed shampoo that has worked for me in the past, and moisture repair shampoos to help reduce my breakage.
@@scarletrosel Try to revaluate your diet and research bio cosmetic brands. I am convinced that a combination of those 2 things will help you like it helped me.
Haha its pretty funny how you posted this today, I noticed I had some dandruff and wanted to see if you posted anything about handling dandruff when growing out hair.
I have issues with Scalps/Dandruff in when it itches every now and then, next time I use Head and Shoulders Shampoo to wash my carefully, you're the man Trav White.
I have dry scalp dandruff and I've found tea tree oil shampoo definitely works. I find it works much better than Head and Shoulders, those and like-products dried out my scalp even more. Tea Tree Oil and the nourishment of argan oil and leave-in conditioners was big time for me. Also, a problem for me was I simply was not drinking enough water. Consider hydrating more as well.
I had constant dandruff (SD), and i used a shampoo with with the antifungal active "piroctone olamine" also known as "octopirox", and it worked. The shampoo also branded itself as containing glycerin, creatine and fucus vesiculus extract (from algae).
I looked up piroctone olamine, and it got the best rating in Denmark for chemical safety by "kemiluppen". An alternative antifungal, zinc pyrithione, should be avoided as it is suspected to decrease the ability to reproduce, and also salicylic acid was bad. I would, however, rather try and avoid any of these, the idea of putting toxins to kill microbes in the scalp just seems wrong to me...
I have seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp. Have been using this for 3 years now and it helps calm the itching and plaques. A bonus is that I’m 52 with great thick and shiny hair! The scent is fresh citrus. I couldn’t live without this product! Thanks to healthy hair plus for a natural healing solution.🥰 the anti fungal shampoo and conditioner
Sometimes the end of my hair has a little bit of dandruff when it comes out... nizoral worked for me but recently during quarantine I got back dandruff and my scalp is really itchy
I’ve had dandruff for over 13 years since I can remember, and am now seeing hair loss in my mid twenties, I found a way to stop 90% of dandruff and stop most hair loss. I pretty much tried every product from Amazon, dieting etc and finally found something that works
@@ep1cmau756 3 steps, 1. Monelyn hair loss shampoo, found it on ebay 2. Hair scrubber, use it in the shower while hair is wet, massage your scalp, it cleans away most dandruff 3. Buy fine pink Himalayan salt, mix a tablespoon with water in a small spray bottle. After showering and towel drying your hair, shake bottle and spray onto your scalp, massage and leave in That’s what worked for me, best of luck my friend
i shower everyday but i started noticing when i scrub my hair there are falling small flakes. it is not visible from my hair, only when i shake and scrub it using my hands and wearing a black shirt, the flakes are visible on the shoulder part of my shirt. don't know if there is a connection but i started getting it when i was addicted to online gambling and lost all my money. i was stressed and problematic and easily irritated. still i don't know if it is a dundruff or dry scalp coz i don't know the difference
I have the oily dandruff version since about a year back. Thankfully it doesn't itch anymore but it has before. My mom noticed there was like a yellow layer on my scalp (not covering my entire scalp) that you can scratch off
i had dry, flaky scalp, not dandruff, on occasion. i used this treatment to get rid of the flakes. i got it from a magazine back in the day. i mixed sea salt and deep conditioner together and used that to exfoliate my scalp. rinse out. i used coarse sea salt but fine could work also. make the mixture prior to shower in a plastic container. it does not store well. i also use a small amount of jojoba oil to moisturize my scalp once a week or so.
I always had dry scalp since I moved to Florida it has gotten worse. I'm to the point of just shaving my head and wearing wigs just so that way I can slap a jar of moisturizer on my scalp.
I'm suffering from sebboric dermatitis and must tell u any one who is suffering this should consult a. Dermatologist and shouldn't srackh his scalp as it's makes hair fossils weak resulting hairfall /loss
Hello, those you recommended products, will I use it together? Or just use one at a time? I have an oily scalp and my dandruff are also noticeable because it's big. Thank you for clarifying between dry and oily scalp, that's why head and shoulders dont work on me.
Looks like I have dry scalp dandruff bcs my dandruff dsnt look oily , yellow or red . But my hair do need greasy and I wash them every forth day. So if dry scalp is causing it then do I need to reduce my shampooing ? My daughter dsnt wash her hair sometimes for even 2-3 weeks and she has even more dandruff than me. I felt with shampooing my dandruff reduces. All flakes are gone with shampoo and just a thin layer stays which can only be visible with scratching the scalp with my nail . What kind of scalp do I have ?
What if your SCALP is oily but the flakes are small and white? I think I have dandruff (dry scalp) since I live in Canada and the air is both cold and dry. I would love to hear an answer from you
I've been neglecting my long hair a lot (washing once every few months, brushing every few weeks) and it's very oily and i have plenty of the small white flakes. So clearly it doesn't have to be associated with a lack of oil on the scalp.
I used to have a huge problem with dandruff. Nothing seemed to work, then I tried to massage coconut oil into the scalp in the evening and washed it out in the morning. And believe it or not, it really disappeared overnight. I still do it once a week or once in two weeks cause it helps me to stay dandruff free.
I really like how you deliver all the science jargon words and it leaves my mouth drop haha, other than that you are not saying anything without reference!!Goodjooobb!keep on educating us about hair stuff!anyway im from the Philippines!!Take care alwaysss!!
Amazing tutorial! You fixed my problem. Thank you so so much!! It helped so much i am really thankful. Man, you're amazing. Ps: You've earned a subscriber for the awesome tutorial. 😊👏🤙
What are your thoughts on using Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo on fine hair with a dry scalp? I know that’s not the intended audience but I’ve heard some good opinions off people with my hair type. Others have said BCO is way too heavy of an oil for fine hair
Hello! Thank you for a nice and useful video, really can take it all for my attention! Beside it i wanna asking you- what do you think about the Zincum as mineral for hears grow and their thickness and vitamin B(the full spectrum complex).?
does nizoral cause hair loss? i bought nizoral and one of the side effects was hair loss and acne. it was said that one in a hundred people can get the side effect. that's why I'm so unsure now.
Psoriasis is annoying to live with but I keep it under control with Tee Tree shampoo. I'm gonna try only washing my hair twice a week to keep my hair healthy.
What I do for my dandruff its use selsun blue shampoo and for conditioner I use Re-fresh scalp care anti-dandruff conditioner the coconut one and also use cold press organic coconut oil. I used to have a heavy dandruff sticking on my eyebrows, mustache and chin and with these products it's been under control. I hope I works for you guys. I bought everything at Walgreens
@@TassadarGR it depends on how heavy your dandruff its. I recommend the moisturizer. That's the one I use. But theres a medicated one which its stronger but you're going to need a good conditioner otherwise you hair will dry out heavily and break easier.
4:47 I kinda have a mix of both of those versions of dandruff, over the years me and my mother have been trying to find a perfect shampoo that at least would help, but every time we found one after a few months of time it wouldn’t help anymore, I have large but not too large and tiny flakes, a oily scalp but it is also very dry, it’s ichy but my scalp is not that red and you cannot see any kind of texture + my nose’s skin is really dry. So idk anymore what to do and after I once take a nap my hair is once again dirty which is not really healthy because I would need to wash my hair each day again and I would consider washing your hair is only needed when it’s dirty again, it kinda gets annoying sometimes since of school and all and washing my thick hair takes lots of time away in the morning.
So I read your “ what’s you hair type” link. I have all symptoms of dry scalp from there plus the symptoms of oily scalp. So does that mean I have combination scalp with dandruff issues ? U haven’t given any hair product recommendation for combination scalp.
U just need to use a mixer and put one red onion....then put the paste on ur scalp...and rinse with water....do it twice a week...and the week after use back ur normal shampoo.
Hey please help me.my hair use to be nice and straight no itch.now my hair is really dry and when I sleep and wake up it's hard and when I get hot or frustrated my hair gets so itchy and like my body.and my hair is like so moist and when I like itch my head I get like this moist wax in my nails.idk what it is but its really stoping me from doing what I wanna do to achieve in life pls help me dude.😭
Please recommend head massager which is good for blood circulation as well as does not have any side effects on hair. And is the Headmaster good for hair growth and writing head scalp?
*Thanks!* Just a question, does having an itchy dry scalp with dandruff lead to hair loss? I've been noticing hair loss past year and it could be because of my dandruff, but I don't know.
Guys if u want the best solution for dry scalp and flaking, three garlic heads or whatever u call them grind em nicely and mix them with two spoons of olive oil, put them in the microwave for 20 sec until they warm a lil and apply them an hour and a half before u shower. repeat twice a week, u should feel the results in the first week . if it worked for u please like my comment so it can reach others
Bro, what about hair masks? do u ever used one, or do you use? i've been using the Tsubaki Premium the yellow one, its a japanese brand, my hair feels nice with it, but i dont know if its good to use it tho, i use 1~2 times in a week. If you do use one, cna u show us how to properly use it? ty
Sorry but i'm really confused. I have psoriasis on the lower back of my head and dandruff on the rest of my head so i tought that it is dry skin. Yet my hair seems to get oily within 2 days? My hair seems greesy the day after i washed it :s any advice on what is going on with my skin?
I have small dandruff flakes and also have bigger ones. I used a product with tea tree ingredient and it works really well. Just 3 washes and my dandruff is completely gone
thank you so much man i had dandruff when i started to use suave professional men's (the dark blue one) but my dad has white head and shoulders so hopefully that will help me
What should I do? We've got the same hair type you and I, dense, fine, straight (slight curl up at the ends) and never really had over oily or dryness problems. But, I fell for the no shampoo fad and Ive been three years without shampoo and hair products doing fine, but ever since Ive started growing my hair out long, Ive been having a lot of dry flakes. Do I have to give up my no shampoo method now (Id rather not) or some kind of scalp moisturizer would do?
