The "coldness" is actually just respect. People don't want to bother each other without good reason. Same thing with hugs, it's not polite to "invade" other people's personal space. Like, even family members don't really hug each other unless someone has been away for a long time or if it's a very important day for someone.
So, it's all about personal space. Hmmm. I see. Here in the Philippines, we savor all seconds and minutes. We hug, kiss and talk to each other as long as we can. We are very friendly, kind, loving and approachable here. Maybe the reason why many tourist went to our country every year. Just sharing :)
No, many of the children are not silent. My wife knows this very well. She says that the cities are in shortage of kindergarten teachers for three reason:. Low salary. Mentally disturbed children. Demanding work, you work really a lot, sometimes it's a hell, specially in Helsinki. In small towns you can probably take it easy, but you have less chances to get any other work. If they are going to save money and kick off teachers, they do not fire their old staff, but you who came last must go first.
I’m a Finnish citizen but was brought up in England so therefore studied up until age 18 there. I am 21 now and have just started studying in Finland. I speak the language so am studying business/economics In Finnish. I have travelled the Finland 3 times a year for my whole life apart from during covid so it’s like returning home in a sense but actually remaining here permanent is certainly different than in London. I much prefer the natural lifestyle.
As a spanish speaking person I like that the letter 'R' is pronounced the same way, rolling the tongue. Makes me feel like having a natural language superpower for once.
Well, those kind of languages are not my thing, I can't pronounce "R" correctly (like European Council president Donald Tusk does). So for me an ideal foreign language to learn would be French ('cause of harsh, throat "R") and English of course (with its numb "R" at times).
The service culture is pretty good in Finland nowadays, you notice the difference in Spain too, the cashiers don't generally greet you there, the customer is an invisible walking wallet ;)
I live in Afghanistan and seeing this video just breaks my heart. 😢 When you see how Happy people are and how much opportunity they have. I had a chance to move to Europe years ago but I didn't take it. I wanted to study something and make something of my life and existence, but that dream is shattered to pieces. Sorry for put a damper on everyone's mood. All these people owe it to people like me to live a good life
Are these interview with "typical" students at Tampere or only the best? As an American, I am very impressed with the intelligence of those interviewed and their ability to articulate complex ideas in English. Perhaps the ability to speak English fluently is a requirement for admission. In any event, the students interviewed are clearly exceptional people. I doubt that the average American college student in Finland could represent themselves and their country as well as these students do. Thanks you all for participating. Next time, it would have be nice to hear from some Finnish students as well, to get their views on Finland and Tampere. Having known Finns who immigrated or studied in the US, I was already favorably disposed toward Finland and its people. This video provided another, insightful perspective.
Now I haven't exactly ever been at that particular University, but from experience and as a finn, the answer is yes, these are likely just mostly randomly picked out students, I highly doubt that scores or anything like that had anything to do with the selection, its just not really our style. Being able to speak fluent english for admission I doubt is a requirement, there are courses for studying english anyway, so being fluent isn't necessary I believe, but its still recommended that you can speak and understand it enough for studies. You'll also be learning finnish since that's the bread and butter of studying/working in finland, and its just good skills to have in a country where its the main language. And of course the students are going to be very good at what they do, we have arguably the best education system in the world, and while that doesn't automatically make a person super smart, it still has an effect, as it should. And I won't discredit other countries education systems - of course some are better than others, but I think a good chunk are at least better than what the US has. In my personal experience, any foreigner I have studied with speak at least near fluent english, whether they learned it here or not I do not know, but regardless its not really much of an issue. And again when it is, we have courses for that. Some can also speak fluent or atleast pretty good finnish, and those who don't will still be taught and otherwise helped in english.
i don't think these students appeared exceptionally smart but maybe people who learn english as a second language speak it more formally because that's how they learn it
Nää on tosi mielenkiintoisia videoita kun näkee mitä muut on mieltä :) mä oon aina halunnu jonku ulkomaalaisen kaverin jolle näytellä paikkoja yms mutta ku en opiskele nii en oikein bongaa niitä mistään täältä peräkylästä 😅
Looks like there are more Iranians in Finland than I thought. I remember I wanted to apply for a Uni in Finland after my plan for the UK was cancelled but Finland required some other exams (apart from English language test) which I didn't have time to study for. Finnish heavy metal made me love this country. Hopefully will visit it once the COVID restrictions are relaxed.
Finland is a country where the water is very clean and good. It is a good country for transiting easily towards beautiful cities as Tallin, St. Petersburg and Stockholm :).
I love your videos so helpful and detailed just subscribed! ❤️Although in this particular video I would have loved to also see some students of colour (black students) if they are there and listen to their views 😊
It's always intressting to hear what other people have to say about our(general speaking) country. I rememdered a video about finnish student culture, there you talked about the finnish student cap(dont remember the ditails), we do have own version about that(i was not not, cuz its a choise). It called russ and its three weeks long with drinking and partying. It is also some challenges along the way(optional), like wear your russ pans for they three weeks and dont wash them at all. Its ends 17th of may(norway's contitution day. Thats happening before the exams. Do you have som tips to how too find work in Finland? Home ect.
Interesting I didn't know that! The best way is just google around at first. If you know some Finnish it helps. There are lots of Facebook groups too where people share information about available apartments.
Aleksi Himself and i forgot to tell about rosaruss, which translate as pink russ. Its for they who are in the last year at kindergarden. It was'nt that popular all over the country yet when i was back in 2004. They are one of the cutest things in the world😄😍
Ohh now i am confused 🤔🤔...someone told in this video that finish people are not communicative & Dont talk too much... I am about to start my Master’s in this year...how i am doing all this Staff along...i am super afraid!!!!!
Does Tampere University of Technology share the same campus(es) as Tampere University? In particular, I am interested in studying Information Technology at Tampere University, but I saw that some people you interviewed also study Information Technology. Do they go to TU or TUT? What is the difference? Are some classes and resources shared?
Aleksi Himself - Videos about Finland Only during my holidays, as my mother was born there. I was born in Braunschweig, Germany though and my father was born in Braunschweig too.
"Smart" is not the same as IQ though. You can be both social and street smart without any impressive IQ, and there are indeed lots of socially clumsy people with high IQs. (I know a few of them myself.)
Their accent is hilarious! It produces NO2 and I can't help laugh out hence I try to avoid them coz it's embarrassing to laugh out for no reason :) Apart from that, they believe that the only thing great in life are genes and the white skin.
@@AleksiHimself definitely.she had the gorgeous blue eyes . She even asked me l to marry her I was shocked. She also told that there are lots of beautiful girls in Finland come visit. I will definitely visit Finland and find my dream girl. She even had a boyfriend but still asked me for getting laid. Lol true story it's all about the personality and how you narrate bingo you will get her and treat them as human beings with high respect. Can't wait to visit Finland .
Who tf gives a shit about such not important things. This country has clean air and water. Also everyone minds their own business which I soo rare to find. Only bad thing is barely any sunlight
@@halfvolley11 u never seen Indian beauty kiddo. Which state you are from cause I see no ugly in my area or city. Also don't chase looks cause that's a ligit bad idea.whatvif their personalities are bad and u remain unhappy for many years. Looks are never permanent soooo
Man this people are silent they mind their business silent climate cool people sexy ladies with no makeup 😮 I think Finland is the country I belong because I am silent more then them I think they will be surprised when they see me 😂🤣😂🇫🇮✌
@@AleksiHimself bottom line is: why people from other countries want Finnish people to adopt imported culture. If their culture is so great then they should stay in their own countries and improve their own countries to become like Finland with their own culture.
Beautiful ladies and attractive guys?! These guys have obviously never been to Sweden :D EDIT: Well, except for beautiful ladies I would recommend Estonia
and what is your point? swedish are not the best looking in the world. every country has beautiful looking people as well not good looking people. i have visited sweden few times i cannot say every women there were beautiful but some were as like everywhere or in other countries, so what’s the big fuzz ?
