Ya I've got the swordfish in D2, love it but i wish the scales had more grip to them. I got the Bestech artic and I wish the scales on that were on the Sword. Still wouldn't give it up tho!
Agreed, especially DCA and Seth V! Came here from the other end of the year video on this subject. I love knives, but others Gering out on knives really amps up the pleasure! I was WOWd by Seth's Darn Dao
I absolutely LOVE my Benchmade 525 Mini-Presidio og version. It was actually my first Benchmade, and my first premium knife period. I've been hooked ever since!
For the next FAQ I really wanna learn more about high end free hand sharpening stones, especially DMT vs Shapton Glass. How do the finished edges differ in performance? Which cuts faster? Which takes a better keen edge? So many questions!!!
Love what Seth V said about no drama, drop dates etc. I missed out on so many GEC and my first LT Wright to where i still haven't tried any. I have wanted DLT Trading exclusive Ranch Hand and they finally had any in stock Christmas 2023 to no avail. Im very grateful i went so long without getting Spyderco Zoomer since KnifeCenter pushed me over the edge with a great, almost half price in the ramp up to Christmas. Thanks, KnifeCenter!
The fun is my preference on fixed blades is getting more kitchen oriented. I started raw brutal survival and progressed through to wanting the best experience my kitchen can offer
I'm hoping to get myself a couple of custom fixed blades from Furnace Brook Iron Works, in Vermont, the Frontier Trade Knife (a classic Voyageur pattern) and the Small Trapper/Bushcraft knife. I've never owned any carbon steel knives, but something about these pre-Revolution styles really appeals to me.
There’s honestly thousands of blades but in my book nothing beats a nice Swiss Army knife even if it’s softer steel if you pair one with your main folder or just go with it on it’s own you can’t go wrong at all, Spyderco knives are some of my all time favourites too fantastic products
My first thought was do I want to spend an hour watching two guys pitching knives. But when I found out it was what they personally acquired through the year, it was an hour well spent. My only disappointment was missing some drops on pieces I would have liked for my own. I’m glad to see the Presidio 2 on the table. It never gets the attention in Benchmade’s lineup like the Griptilian does. It’s a solid knife that’s been around a long time. And Behring Made makes some beautiful knives too. They have a steady output of knives each week. But if you see one you like, you better pull the trigger. They sell quickly.
liking the drop bear shape etc ... but with aluminium handles ... i'll wait and hope that they either change to a micarta option, or knifecenter get a 'special made. :)
DCA, and seth definitely out knife-guy me. I had no idea that dudes were having "weekend EDC", and sifted through a daily change of tools. I change when I'm bored, and during the spring and summer when I'm in the garden a lot. For the cutty things, a defensive fixed blade and a folder from my collection is the basis of my EDC, and although I own many, rarely a multitool.
I usually keep 5-8 knives on my nightstand that I rotate thru depending on the day. Work, date night, working in the garage, etc etc...got a different knife that I carry for each scenario
You guys really need to try a Jason Perry knife works blade. The heat treat is amazing, the handle, simple and useful, and price is great. Just a great tool.
I have a field spec edc1 in black micarta with the wharnie blade. It’s awesome. What about yours is semi-custom? Just curious, I know there are some custom scales available, but his full customs typically have pinned handles. I think he either had bestech or Reate make the field specs. Not sure which OEM, but whoever did it did a fantastic job.
DCA, your championing of the Nessmuk style is starting to turn me. There are some really refreshing opinions here. Nice to see some less mainstream options. Nice video!
I used to work in a warehouse (and travelled to other warehouses) where most people carried knives for occupation. Outside of utility knives, the most common knives I've seen are low profile. Length comes second, brand/steel come third, and weight comes last. All the knives I ever borrowed, outside of utility knives, also felt like they had a secure blade, could stab and slice, and could be used with one hand opening/closing. My preference is thin handles with the thickest blades with a good steel. I don't like most SS unless it's for travel then I go with VG10. In the army I only cared that it was small and easy to sharpen.
Really fun seeing the great knives and hearing all your thoughts in general. I had to order two of them (the knives). Missed the boat on the 15V, makes your vid on knives of the week pretty important. Thanks guys.
I've been edc a Leatherman sidekick since 2016 & it's my main tool 🤷🏼♂️ then I've been trying to find a good folder as a secondary, I went Benchmade route with the 9400, bailout, 555 & 575. I'd have to say the 575 is my favorite folder so far. Also I purchased a Spyderco smallfly 2 & a rock jumper. Now that smallfly 2 has to be the most prolific purchase of my knife life 🤷🏼♂️. Do you guys have any videos about pocket Balisongs?
Seth looks like the kind of guy who lives on Caroline street, vapes, and goes to spirits on Tuesday nights 😂… Just kidding love you guys and Happy news
I'm really curious what Seth thinks about the production Creely Mako in Cru Wear that came out this year. It seems like a great package, I love the pocket sheath and very thin flat grind.
I got one too and its been a regular carry for me at work. I tried quite a few fixed blades before I got the Creely but none of the sheaths worked well for EDC. Guessing he didn't get one since its not on the table.
@@mcsquirgle I would have liked to hear their thoughts on it for sure. Its a fantastic knife. My journey to find the perfect fixie EDC stopped with the Mako.
@@arrowheadguys7637 mine as well. Gary Creely is known for pushing his knives to their HRC limits too, and qualities like that are what sets a knife apart from the others. If they are listening, I'd like to see more from Gary Creely at KnifeCenter
@@mcsquirgle yeah, he's a knife steel nerd for sure. I'm sure they'd like to get more in, but his books for orders have been pretty full. I'd like to get a Magnacut Mako next for the dead of summer when I sweat a lot or winter when I'm working with salt.
I won't carry anything with ball bearings. In a month of carry, pocket lint and debris will get into the bearings causing them to get rough. The same for the OTFs. They foul easily when used every day. A bushing folder is far superior. My favorite knives are the Axis Lock type from Benchmade and a Ganzo, but Ganzo often has ball bearings.
yeah i hate when it takes me 2 seconds to open my knife instead of 1. Real world problems right here. Imagine how many times you could get murdered in the extra second it takes you to open your knife before you cut someone enough times for their hear to stop beating.
Just an observation: A knife should always be handed to one another by offering the handle (hilt) (As Seth does nearly all the time) 😀 . Other than that, great info!
Love all the great content! Thanks DCA and the Knifecenter team for the awesome videos and quality content. PS. I’m personally a big fan of VG-10 great steel for the money.
There are definitely food shapes & utility shapes for blaes. Could this be an informational subject. It must certainly have an, unless you have other uses, status.
Why why why did leatherman ever disappear the juice?! I have one (and only 1, sadly) and it has entered the realm of if it’s lost i will replace IMMEDIATELY. I NEED the juice. Let’s go leatherman.
It was kind of the only thing of its kind out there. The only one they still make is the smaller Sync I, which is not bladeless. Here is a link: bit.ly/3InL63h -DCA
BMKC...former fixation, ...meh. Spyderco used to make large knives, they decided Cold Steel got laughed at, they quit, shouldn't have because CS has become a self fulfilling prophecy from a gas station horror creepy pasta since the sale. ESEE has the Junglas for chopping, the E6 is a belt knife. You could find a decent khukuri.
spyderco collector - not anymore - in Europe the price for the Shaman went up from 235 to 335 over night Spyderco no thanks. Of course everthing gets more expensive today but about 30 procent? Na not with me - went for nice Fox Knive. My Salary didn´t went up 30 procent sorry Sypderco
that sounds more like a your DISTRIBUTOR issue not spyderco. you are putting the blame on spyderco when it’s whatever dealer you buy from that is the one raising their prices, as spyderco doesn’t raise their prices except for once a year. and when they do, they don’t up it by 1/3.
I almost never watch hour long videos but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I am a big fan of the Knife Center and the videos that you produce. I live nearby and I have purchased many knives in my growing collection from the Knife Center. Thanks again for a great video and I wish you well in the coming year.
Have one and while it comes close it doesn't fit my needs. The file is just as so-so as the one on the Sync II, and it also lacks a good flat-head driver. -DCA
@@knifecenter that file can be modified at the edge to be flathead...a lot of powerpint user do this mod and the end of bottle cap lifter also can be mod to be small size flathead..thank you DCA..l have a lot of respect to you
Cheers! I'm all for modding the tool to fit my needs, but I'd still be saddled with a file that can barely handle my fingernails, to say nothing of harder materials. I still may wind up giving it a try though. Thank you! -DCA
Have one of your Lil' Natives in Cruwear and smooth G10 coming today, and I literally can't wait. The fact you guys were able to sell them at $125 (sub $30 from the base S30V version), is astonishing and I greatly appreciate you guys always being at the forefront of the best and most competitive prices among dealers. Happy New Years KC crew!
Thank you DCA, Seth, Thomas, and KC. You have made it a great year for all of us in the knife community. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the vids this year, best wishes for the next coming year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Help please. In search of a thinner design, clean/simple titanium frame lock handle, deep carry pocket clip, 3in blade w/ decent steel, maybe flipper or stud deployment, preferably USA made, but not a must, under $150. Yes, Reeve's Inkosi meets all this criteria, but it's $425. Thanks in advance.
I was today years old when I realized you guys are in my hometown. What a small world. I thought it was crazy how fast stuff arrived after orders ship. Man, I feel dumb. That said, you guys get it out the door fast. Love the content on this channel. Keep up the good work, gents.
Seem to have a lot of similar tastes in knives as Seth, would love to see a video exclusively on his Spyderco collection. If that video already exists let me know. Thanks for sharing your grabs from this year. Cheers to 2023
Always cool to see some of the knives I own on the table. Looks like I see a few more I need to own! Great video to send us into 2023. Happy New Years KC team!
Definitely some beautiful chunks of iron you have! :) That Spydie Stretch 2 XL sure looks an awful lot like the old Police variant made oh so long ago.
Thank you Seth and DCA for the years worth of amazing content. I look forward to your videos every week. Much love from the Bluegrass State and can’t wait to see what comes out in 2023!!
