I don't plan on learning Swedish, I just wanted to know what swedes eat, but my goodness does everyone need a teacher like you when learning a language. Your pronunciation isn't too fast and you explain things so thoroughly that often aren't explained, like pronunciation rules. I wish you could teach me Spanish, lol!

Don't understand the pronunciation of kika:rtor.. [shik etor] All the two "k" - s are followed by a vowel.. Why don't you pronounce it [shish etor]??
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish 2 года назад
Good observation! The K sounds differently depending on if it is followed by a HARD vowel (AOUÅ). More K like Or a soft vowel (EIYÄÖ). More SH like. However this is a compund word, kirkärtor is really kirk-ärtor. So Yeah.. it is as if it is followed by nothing 🙈

Fun fact about about Kalles kaviar. It uesd to be the mame. Due to EU rules its no longer aloud to be cald caviar because the amount of caviar is only half of the continent. In order to be called caviar in EU it needs to be 100% roe from fish. You will not find the word "kaviar" on the tube it just say Kalles Orginal

Good question! It is one of the exceptions but some people actually say "shex" so you can hear both versions (k-sound or a sh-sound). I think "sheks" is more common in Göteborg.

Acually your teatcher is wrong. Estrella is a swedish brand so it shoud not be pronounced like the spanish word Estreja. Swedes dont say it wrong because its a swedish brand name. But Tortilla is not a brand name so in that case your teacher is more right when saying the spanish way of saying the word. But Iff we woud say everything in there natural language we coud not say Florence we need to say the Italian word for Florence which is Firence or the chinese word for there capital Beijing not Peking as we say in swedish.
