I m watching RU-vid since i was 18 and i see a lot of viedos... I learn english watching RU-vid bit never leave a comment. But this time i ha e ti because this video Is si unique and help me a lot It s so Amazing how somene spend time and nolege to help the others ! Thank you soo much you are amazing i love the simplicity to expose this very hard top ! Thank you again
That's really helpful. I have a transmission that would only go into 5th gear if I was on a slight decline going at just the right speed - eventually got to the point that it now pops out of 5th gear as soon as I give any gas... Thought I only needed to replace the 5 gear baulk ring but after watching your video I suspect I should also replace the 5th gear assembly itself as well... Thanks!
Britpart don't make anything, they just buy it in - the gearbox parts are OK - if you stick a G behind the part number then you will get the OEM stuff - other than that it is real cheap stuff But as with most parts suppliers, it is hit and miss Mike
Brilliant explanation... I'm gonna give checking my gearbox a try now... I am a bit nervous as we don't have any local support to bail me out if I get stuck. Closest assistance is Ashcroft in the UK and the massive shipping bill associated with that!
@@BritannicaRestorations first time restoring a VW beetle transmission, and it helps A LOT seeing pictures of what you should be looking for when evaluating used parts.
Hi, found this by searching for 5 speed manual gearbox rebuild.Found this information you impart very useful and interesting. Must be down to your years of experience and acquired knowledge performing this task. Would like to ask if you were asked to rebuild a Jeep Wrangler/Cherokee AISIN AX-15 five speed manual gearbox. Would this cause you any problems due to presumed lack of practical experience on this model of manual gearbox. Would it be fair to conclude both are quite similar in function and assembly components. Jeeps from the mid 1990s are far fewer on the UK than same the generation Land Rovers. So i would imagine much harder to find competent people to restore and repair worn synchromesh assemblies etc.
Good morning mate . If you put legend in Portuguese you would have more than 10,000 registered only here in Brazil. Brazilians are fanatical about Defender. Ricardo Brasil .
i gotta say tho this is one of the best i watched cause i am also looking to know what a worn gears look like transmission gears to be exact ty ty for this.
hi I have a dicsovery 2 with an r380 gearbox and ive been thinking about overhauling it. There is a used r380 that was removed from a defender for an auto conversion apparently no major issues asking for 2500 dollars canadian.... do you think this is a good deal? since the discovery is my daily driver it would help to be able to take apart the gearbox at my own pace and swap out. thanks for your videos, they are amazing.
You did not mention which engine you had, but you may not be able to fit a defender box due to the input shaft length - need serial numbers off the boxes to confirm
@@BritannicaRestorationsThanks for the prompt reply. I have a 1999 discovery 2 with a td5, the engine is from a 2002 defender td5, so im guessing it would work? provided it was a fit, what do you think of the price?
IF the Defender gearbox is from a Td5 not 300Tdi then it will fit - I seem to recall the input shafts are different lengths (Not sure about V8 R380) Would need the serial numbers to check Price is quite high, but these boxes are hard to find
@@BritannicaRestorations yea they are quite rare. Maybe I will see if the seller is willing to budge on the price a little bit. What in particular on the serial number are you looking for? Thanks for the replies
