Today I'm answering the question from Matt from instagram. in a roundabout way. I end up getting into talking a bit about lamination.
Some of the mechanical physics of Lamination ended up being kind of hard to explain on the fly but its actually very interesting and worth looking into if you plan on trying lamination. Understanding the physics of lams will help you determine how, where and when to use the technique and when maybe it isn't as appropriate.
Thanks for watching and as always leave more questions and comments in the comments section or shoot me an email. subscribe if you enjoy!

Keep up with the videos. Love them. Could you discuss how you balance your work load? When is it time to build vs repair? I’m sure it gets to the point where you just have to stop doing repairs and start building and vice versa, or you would never be able to accomplish both.

Has your familiarity with and understanding of tension/compression forces, bending planes, and flexure in general come entirely from your apprenticeships, mentors, and building experience or have you spent some book study time on these topics? You sound like you have more physics and mechanics in your background than your "fine arts and lit" bio line would suggest. This also begs the question...how much attention do you give materials science in your shop? And where do you look for information when you are seeking to learn?

Everything I've learned about mechanics, physics and the like came from my interest in making better instruments. Some came from mentors, some came from my own research and reading. I think to give you a more depth answer I'l make a video and talk about it. look for it after the holidays. Thanks! Be well
