I carried a Schrade 125OT Mustang from 1977 (when I joined the Marine Corps) until 2004 when I gave it to my youngest boy who took it to Baghdad for three tours. My favorite folder is the CS Pocket Bushman. I have one in all my kits. I carry a Victorinox multi tool now because I’ve broken every Leatherman I ever owned. Aesthetics are important to me but I have used every knife I’ve owned. Even the very expensive ones. So reliability is most important. TOPS is my favorite brand because I was fortunate enough to get to know Mike Fuller, and I’m proud to call Leo and Craig my friends. Don’t hate any knife company, but I never liked Moras until they released the Eldris. That’s a bit strange to me because I really like the big knives…. TOPS Armageddon is my favorite. Love your channel Scab, even though I don’t have lots of time to comment these days due to a promotion at work. Oh yeah, I usually edc 4 knives, but I’m not allowed to carry a knife at work. So when I’m at work I only carry 2. 🇺🇸

I'm not studied so well on knives (yet). So, grain of salt time. I carry a Cold Steel Bush Ranger Lite and a Cold Steel Kudu Lite. I know there's better folders out there, but $ is tight. I chose the Bush Ranger Lite b/c it fit a min blade length and thickness, the scales looked grippy, easy to open 1-handed, and was under $50. I chose the Kudu because it was $7. It was a "why not ?" buy. While it has limitations, it is pretty handy for me. While it seems like Cold Steel is my favorite brand, and I do like it so far, I haven't owned enough knives to say I have a favorite brand yet.

Blade length, shape, edge geometry, steel type, ergo's, lock, and price. The CS Recon1 in CTS-XHP is my favorite large folder, and CS Air Lite is right up there. Spyderco Manix 2 XL in S30V is also a favorite. Not big on Camillus knives. Fixed blades in 1095 steel, KA-BAR, ESEE, OKC, Kizer. In D2, I'm really digging Lothar Knives at the moment, like their BAT and KA-52 fixed blade models. Again, ergo's are very important and a good factory sheath. The list goes on, but as of now, this is where I'm at. Which is subject to change depending on new knife models.

My daily driver is the Creely Mako in magnacut. It's a weird looking but very slicey little pocket fixie with a great leather pocket sheath. It's comfortable in hand, easy one handed use and resheathing and you never even feel it in your pocket. I've used it for 18 months of daily ranch chores, with monthly stropping and only one resharpening. Backup is an Axial Shift OTF in magnacut but that's more for opening letters and household things. I used to carry folders but once I found pocket fixies the folders ended up staying in the drawer. I have tons of other blades for specific tasks but those are the two that have constantly been on me for the last 18 months. They are good quality, very reliable and easy to use. Knife companies that I love, Creely, Tkell, Esee, Cold Steel. I don't really hate it but I've never used a Spyderco that wasn't very uncomfortable in my hand. When I'm just on our property I usually have two blades on me, the Creely and Axial. If I leave the property I add a Tkell Nightguard to the front of my belt under an untucked Tshirt. Tkell makes some wicked self defense blades.

I currently carry 3. (Hogue Extrak, SpyderCo Tenacious (G-10/fully serrated), and White River Ursus 45) I prefer fixed blades, serrated folders, and modernized traditionals. USA Made has become a much bigger deal for lately. As it (they) is (are) the connection(s) between you and the knife, handle materials are next. I cannot stand any GRN or FRN that I've ever held, for example. Next, does the price point match the materials used. Don't necessarily dislike any blade steels, except for unnamed stainless, but not going to pay 3V prices for 440C. Lastly, if everything else is on point, does it come Blacked Out? Actually Blacked Out, no red liners, no silver hardware, no billboarding on the pocket clip (if applicable) or too much on the blade. What the term implies, all Black. Then it gets placed on a list that is currently topped by The Bradford Guardian 3.2 (Magnacut/Micarta), The Compliance Edge Henchman, The SpyderCo Bodacious (serrated), and The Jack Wolf Knives Gunslinger Jack (Arctic Storm Scales, Black everything else). Only reason no bigger fixies are on top of that list are because my last 2 were The Bradford Guardian 5 and WRK Ursus 45. As long as it took to save for them, and as awesome as both are, I am nowhere NEAR finished breaking them in.

In this order… Ergos (especially on fixed blades): If it presents hot spots and is uncomfortable or too small, then I can’t use it and won’t use it and so it’s a useless piece of metal. Blade Shape and Geometry: Some blade shapes don’t make sense for how I use my knives (like tantos). I need my blades to slice and cut more than chop or stab. Aesthetics - Of course I like my girls to be sexy! Price: I’m ballin on a budget bro! Sometimes I splurge but a lot of knife prices have gone off the rails. I’m also way beyond “needing” any knives. Now it’s just a “want”. I carry 2 to 3 knives every day. ALWAYS a fixed blade and either a slip joint or folder (but sometimes both). LOVE: Very Good Knife Co RoseCraft Blades DON’T LOVE (Borderline Hate): Benchmade

I usually carry one knife, most of the time with at least a 3 inch cutting edge with a 3.75 to 4ish handle. It has to speak to me to get it, I don't want nothing to big and heavy or bulky, my pants will be down around my ankle and I won't carry it. A comfortable handle is important and I want a thin edge that will slice, don't need no pry bar in my day to day. There's a lot of makers I like, Dusty at Duckhead forge, Lishen knives, Alec with Wachtman knives. scrawny lumber jack. I don't know if there's a knife maker or company that I just hate. I tend to lean towards smaller makers than big box brands. A full flat grind I love, oh yeah company I don't care for is Dark Timber, there's several reasons behind that one

They need to be light, versitile & comfortable to use but as far as specifics go im looking for diff things from each knife b/c i have a diff uses in mind for each one. For self defense it needs to be stiff, pointy & durable doesn't matter what it looks like cause it wont come out unless its went all bad already. For utility it needs to be thin behind the edge, tough & little flexy. As well as not being too "tacticool" looking so it doesn't upset the sheeple & so on.

I swap out my carry a fair bit, but it’s usually two knives. One that’s stout, usually a fixed blade, could take batoning or even punching out a car window in an emergency, the other is usually a slicier, thinner blade for more detailed cuts. A lot of the time for me that combo is a Winkler Blue Ridge Hunter that I put a more acute edge on, and a lil Boker d2 lockback in the pocket. I think I’m not a very brand-oriented person as I don’t love/hate any brand, but I do love/hate certain knives. The only brand I seem to gripe with lately is Benchmade, just insane prices for not a lot going on, but I do own a few older ones and they’re fine knives. I wanna get my hands on a WTG Tayal. Yeah brother I'm in the same boat if it was a matter of needing I'd have three maybe LOL. I look for some of the same things and I stay away from the same things I can't stand the Pakistani guys. I'm sure they're nice folks but Jesus

It has to be a new model. U don't like classics. It has to be the latest and greatest steel. It must have the trending handle material. It must have the best heat treat. I prefer Chinese production but at USA handmade prices.

I go for something comfortable in the hand and not too heavy. Im not keen on the belt clips i generally take them off. I used a Ka bar Dozier for a long time.

I don't know how you could keep up in the comments if it's something important I'll shoot you a message not that anything would be that important. I look for quality, well-built, aesthetics I have to like how it looks. Some of my favorite folders are Custom Knife Factory and Microtech and the ones I like the least are probably Spyderco and Benchmade. I don't hate them just not a fan. Fixed blade favorite Fiddleback and don't own anything I really dislike. I usually have 3 knives on me. I will be grabbing one of the steadfast knives looks like a winner. Peace Brother

I usually look for functionality and reliability in a pocket knife for example I have a mid guard folding knife is got a titanium frame and it’s frame lock and the blade is D2 have a fixed blade from them too and to me they do really well
