If you are clueless of where to start and what to do when applying for clerkships, then you've landed on the right video! 💯
Applications for clerkships can be extremely overwhelming. Mainly because there is an exhaustive list of documents that have to prepared in order to send out your application packet. And all this needs to be done 6-9months prior to the start date of your rotation! 🥼
As IMGs we are often confused on what documents we need, how to obtain them and what each of them contains. In this video I talk about this list of documents you will need in order to apply for clinical experience in the US as an IMG. 📑

Hi Divya, thanks for the video! I am a medical student at Gandhi medical college Hyderabad, India. My college unfortunately is not subscribed to VSLO Home Institution List. Also, my school does not have other affiliations with US schools. How can I find US schools/hospitals that accept IMGs for USCE? Most of them from what I saw require my college on VSLO list. I did not do USMLE Step 1 yet, I just finished my 4th year exams and would like finish Clinical Electives first. I have the US tourist visa already.

Hi Divya, your video is very informative. Thanks for doing such a nice job and service to other aspiring IMGs! There is some confusion in terms of what is considered USCE. There are so many names - Externships, Clerkships, Clinical rotations, Observerships/Shadowing etc. Can you please advise on what we should look for while applying? Regards.
@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal
@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal Год назад
Hey! Thank you for your kind words:) Externship - Clinical hands on rotation that you do after you graduate. Clinical rotations/ Clerkships - Hands on rotation as a student. Observerships/ Shadowing - Rotations which are not hands on, done as a student or graduate. Clerkship > Externship > Observership.

@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal
@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal Год назад
You can apply without visa to few places, but if you are accepted you need a visa. So its best you first get a visa appointment at least and then apply otherwise you might waste your money in application and not be able to attend the clerkship.

Internship extension- can be done for a period of 1 year from the start date of CCRI. You will have to apply to your medical board and get it accepted. It helps you to extend your graduation date. Highly recommend extending it if you anticipate taking time for your usmle exams and USCE.
