@@georgeffc1328 No problem, so my two seasons in France and Austria were as a rep working for Crystal Ski Holidays. I actually applied in October, which is quite late in the process. I applied to Crystal Ski, Inghams and I think Neilson.I had an interview with Inghams a week after my interview with Crystal, but I never went to it because Crystal offered me a job within that week.

Thanks for the video dude! Quick question, what would you say is the most easy going job on a resort? 😂I don’t mind working hard but maybe not so intense like constant customer interactions or 18 hour days. Would really appreciate your opinion!
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs Год назад
Hey mate thanks for commenting, bit of an old video this one! To be honest you're not going to find many 'easy' jobs in a ski resort. However if you're looking for something a little less intense, the most popular jobs would be either in a bar or as a liftie. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Matt, I think that having watched some of the facebook groups, a great idea would be to talk about mature saisonnieres! There is a lot of older folks looking to do a season, who are not as concerned about the current post B climate and happier to jump through the hopes. I myself have been a resort manager and am very comfortable with fulfilling pretty much most jobs in resort, but I see many posts from mature people concerned about how they may fit in. Let's face it, it can be quite a party atmosphere and certainly most vlogs display that side of things above all! I am hoping to persuade the wife to do a season or 2 once our dogs have passed (likely to be before too soon unfortunately) and would be happy that if we did, I would do a vlog about it as a maturer saisonniere. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hi Trevor thanks for commenting and for the kind feedback, In my most recent accommodation video I had another mature seasonal worker also make a similar comment. I agree this would be something worth doing as it is not just for the young. It would be handy to have someone like yourself on as a guest to pose question to and get their account of experiences, would this be something you'd be interested in? Sorry to hear about the dogs, but its great to hear your trying to persuade your wife...what are her reservations? Thanks, Matt.

@@BramskiVlogs Hi Matt and thanks for the reply. It is now 18 years since I did my last season, so not sure I am your best recruit. I would be happy to do it, but my advice would be somewhat dated. The better half doesn't do heights well! So chairlifts and gondolas are currently a no go, but I am confident that we could overcome those situations. I think she is also a tad concerned that with me having done seasons and a cabable skier, her new beginnings would be a disadvantage (though I have explained that as a saisonniere, she would soon be more than able).

Hi, thanks for posting this was super helpful- just wondering if any perks/discounts on ski gear or lift passes are typically included with being a ski rep? Thanks!
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 5 месяцев назад
Hey Emily thanks for commenting, it varies depending on the company you work for. If you are applying for jobs that's definitely a question to ask them in the interview. Generally speaking the local bars will look after reps pretty well, especially if you're in a smaller resort. For instance My second winter was in Söll Austria, one of the bars would have a 'workers bier' slightly cheaper than the rest. When I worked for crystal years ago you did get a lift pass and rentals if needed BUT it was deducted from your paycheck because the tour operator (crystal/inghams etc) still have to pay the resort even if it is discounted. It's different if you ever work directly for a ski resort because it's no cost for them to give you a pass. I hope that explains things ?

Hi thanks for all the info and congrats on 400! Got two questions - how much does the company you work for affect your social life and who you meet? Are you better off with a large company so you meet everyone else who works for them or does everyone mingle in resort anyway, regardless of company? Also how many seasonaires are in their mid-twenties/ few years post-uni?
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
Hi Isabelle thanks for the kind words and for commenting. So with a big company you meet a lot of other colleagues on the training week but then when you get to the resort I think it depends a bit on how big the place is and how many seasonnaires there are. In my second season it was easier to make friends with people outside of work because Soll was no where near the size of Val Thorens. I think regardless of the size of the company you will have a great deal of social life and meet people though because the bars really look after seasonal workers and that's usually where you tend to make friends. I would say it's a 50/50 between people coming straight out of uni and some just leaving school. I did 3 years at uni and a year working before doing my first season and never felt out of place. Hope this helps?

Hi Matt, we usually buy the lift passes in advance of going, from the benefit of the rep would we be better off buying from the them upon arrival?
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
Hi Mark, if you pre book the lift passes through the operator then as reps we tend to put them in your packs on Friday night. Depending on logistics you then get your welcome pack on the coach or on arrival in resort. Pre booking does make reps Saturday slightly easier, Im sure you've seen them running around like headless chickens at times but it usually because your trying to sell some lift passes in one accommodation and then a guests says they're not happy with their room in another place. In future seasons I think you will find less reps in resort with more incentives and options to buy the items you need online or on an app. Hope this helps? Thanks for commenting.

Hi George thanks for the comment. Typically companies will start posting late June/July time. This is a bit of an old video now and its worth pointing out that there aren't as many rep jobs as a few years ago for many reasons.Still I'd recommend looking on the main tour operator sites like Crystal, Inghams, Skiworld etc

@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
Hi Sandy thanks for commenting and for the kind words. Are there any particular jobs you are interested in? I've only worked as a rep and concierge but have worked closely with chalet hosts, drivers/maintenance, bar staff, ski instructors.For example, If you are an instructor then the slopes are your office so you're likely to ski every day. As a ski rep I was able to ski 5-6 days a week, and that included on work days (except Saturdays as that is airport day). As for 'partying' that's really up to you and your judgement, What I will say is if you wanted you could go out and have a drink every night then you could...but you have to show up to work the next day. Working a ski season is of course about being in the mountains, getting to ski loads, meeting new people...but unless you are professional, turn up and work hard you'll be out of there in no time. I've seen plenty be sacked. The usual time when they start posting jobs is June until October. Give the Finding Ski Jobs vid a watch, that'll help you a bit with where to apply. Hope this helps.

Yes that helps loads. I’m not sure hat job I would like to do yet as I’m only 15. But I might as well plan as it doesn’t look like I’ll be skiing this year😭
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
@@sandygreenhorn3388 Sadly not this year, but yes plenty of time to plan and have a think. When you do go on ski holidays next time, watch what the staff are doing as that will give you an indication. By the time you get to finishing school you'll have a good idea. I'd also say that between now and then things might change slightly so you might find there are new jobs/roles in the industry. If you have any questions at all at any point feel free to let me know.

Hi mate thanks for commenting, great to hear you are interested in doing a ski season. Normally ski job recruitment starts from June and runs until October. As for where there's a few seasonaire job sites, you could go direct to the company. I'd recommend watching my finding ski jobs vid to help you out a bit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_OTQCV0k2h4.html so the big places for seasonnaires in 3 Vallees is Meribel and Val Thorens. I was based out of les menuires in my first season which was a little less chaotic but just as fun. Dyou know what you want to do?

@@BramskiVlogs I was watching some of your videos and and really enjoying the content! I am looking more at Val Thorens. As for jobs I really don’t know as I don’t have any qualifications such as cooking courses etc for a chalet host. As a proportion How many people would you say are going on a seasons after a levels in between uni as an 18 year old And would this affect employability with little experience would it be hard to find a job in particular as a host ?
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
Hi Ben during my first season practically all the chalet hosts I worked with had come straight from school. Its a really common thing to do and honestly working a ski season is not the type of thing where employers look if you have a degree or not. If you haven't had many jobs yet or life experience one thing that will also make you stand out is your passion for skiing/ambition to work in the mountain - you want to be confident and enthusiastic when you are infront of employers.
@Ben-fk1yy
@Ben-fk1yy 3 года назад
@@BramskiVlogs ah okay thanks for the reply Did you hear of any particular companies that other people have had a good experience of working with as a host ?
@BramskiVlogs
@BramskiVlogs 3 года назад
@@Ben-fk1yy I can't think of any bad ones. What I would say though is that tour operators aren't operating Chalets in the same volume they used to. I would recommend looking into Chalet specific companies (offering catered and self catered) as they will specialise in that kind of work and will be looking for hosts, chefs, drivers, concierge.
